If we are 14-1, do we start Romo against Eagles?

Yeah, Rob Johnson was a sitting duck in that game in the pocket. Flutie was the better choice for an over pursuing defense that featured Jevon Kearse, but yeah it all came down to one play.
But Flutie sucked the whole season that year, and if you look at Flutie's stats for the regular season they really weren't that much better than what Johnson ended up giving them. Not to mention that regardless of what happened, Johnson did play well enough for them to win, or to win in spite of him, if not for a fluky special teams play. Don't get me wrong, it was a weird decision for the Bills to make, but it wasn't why they lost.

I don't think tony would be embarrassed in that situation. I'm thinking his pride has already been worked over pretty good and he would relish ANY opportunity to remind people what he can do.

Dak is a rookie and is still learning. He's not a seasoned vet that needs to be rested at the end of the year. You stay with him. That would essentially be a 3 week layoff for him in this scenario. From Week 16 to the divisional round of the playoffs. No way you do that.

Denver went back to Peyton last year over Osweiler

Right, and I remember screaming at the TV during the Super Bowl that if they wanted to win, they needed more points and they should switch back to Osweiler. Good thing for them they didn't listen to me, I guess.

Yeah, murky causality and counter-factual conjecture, I get it. Point is, I am not sure we want to tempt Jerry; who knows with him.

I don't know what will happen but I have my opinion. Romo needs to play AMAP if he's going to be the backup in the playoffs.

It would be funny to see Jerry squirm if Dak followed up his rotten, 20 incompletion September effort against the Giants with a rotten December outing against them, then Romo lights up Philly in Week 17, and then lo and behold the Giants win in the WC round and come into town for the divisional round...

I'm pretty sure the Pats always play their starters in that scenario and Welker tore his knee up in a meaningless game because of it too.

No you let Sanchez get killed. He's only on the roster for that game, little does he know what's in store for him.

Garrett will still play the starters.. He's done it everytime in this scenario.
When has Garrett had HFA? Garrett has never had the chance to rest his players even during our 12-4 season, which we did not have a bye.

No. Rookies need reps. Dak is good but you have to make 1000s of reads to become elite. The more he plays the less like we'll see him miss guys streaking free in the future
By this logic of 1000s of reads means by Dak's 5th year he should be elite. I mean 400+ reads a year, therefore by Dak's 5th year he should have roughly 2000+ reads which qualifies him to be elite by your acct even if he has 2 or 3 rings before reaching 2000 reads. I love how fans fall for the media of elite.

10-1, playing at an elite level already, if we are 14-1, Dak plays 2 or 3 series if that many the final game of the year. Philly would really try to hurt Dak just so he wouldn't be healthy come playoff time.

When you have been inactive for this long, veteran or not, you need live game reps. If they have nothing to play for, then get Tony some action after Dak has played a series or two...
Seems logical to me though I would worry about the oline, but reps for your backup is never a bad idea

i dont see how that is an embarrassment when he is the backup.
i think he would want to play.
i am sure he himself wants to see if he still has it in a real game.
I don't see the issue either
The backup place if the starter comes out. That's the job and there is no disrespect to getting him playing time. I bet he would love the chance to play. He loves football and I don't think he has the ego many seem to think he does

Start him? No. Let him play in the game? Yes. Never know what could happen in the playoffs & he could be needed.
I start Dak and the oline then after the first drive of second half I get them out and get Tony some reps. I don't even dress zeke or any play dinged up a bit

If Romo is going to be backup wouldn't he need to have some reps? Or are we assuming he will be 2014 Romo if called upon.

Hopefully we are in that situation though to make that decision.

I said it before. I think you give Romo his choice to play. If he wants to play 2nd half or even start then he can, assuming our plan is to rest Dak.

That's correct.
