But Flutie sucked the whole season that year, and if you look at Flutie's stats for the regular season they really weren't that much better than what Johnson ended up giving them. Not to mention that regardless of what happened, Johnson did play well enough for them to win, or to win in spite of him, if not for a fluky special teams play. Don't get me wrong, it was a weird decision for the Bills to make, but it wasn't why they lost.Yeah, Rob Johnson was a sitting duck in that game in the pocket. Flutie was the better choice for an over pursuing defense that featured Jevon Kearse, but yeah it all came down to one play.
