If we are 14-1, do we start Romo against Eagles?

I think if we lock things up Romo will get some action, however, I would definitely sit Zeke...we need him ready if we expect to go deep in the playoffs...

No. Starters play a series or two until they score a TD and then Sanchez leads a group of mostly backups the rest of the way. You can't risk Injury to Romo, both for the playoffs and his trade value. Romo only plays if Dak gets hurt.
That would mean you have 3 active qb

Nossir. You don't disrespect 9 like that. If we've clinched everything, you start Sanchez sir.

yea, this

edit: To be honest, I'd still start Dak and have him prepare like he's going 4 quarters, then surprise pull him after 1 quarter of so. Maybe let Romo get a few snaps with the 1s in the second before going with Sanchez in the second half

Wrapping things up and allowing Romo to play could increase his trade value. If he were to play well, it could get a team interested. Joe Montana got to play a game after a long period off when Steve Young took over and played great luring the Chiefs into trading a #1 for him. No one will part with a high pick for Romo because he's so brittle but at least he could be showcased in a meaningless game prior to the playoffs. He hasn't played in a full year and to get anything in a trade for him he has to show he still can play and get through a game healthy.

The Chiefs are the optimal landing spot for Romo. However, no way they give up a first rounder for him. 2nd or 3rd maybe.

Garrett will still play the starters.. He's done it everytime in this scenario.
I think it would be slightly disrespectful to Romo to play him in that game. If you are going to rest starters, play Sanchez.

The best would be a third and maybe a conditional pick depending on how many games he's able to play.

Came here to post this.
It never worked out for IND when they started worrying about rest for guys

I believe in the Belichick method......the season is 16 games 60 minute games.....you play your healthy players

Plus the last thing Dak wants is Tony coming in and lighting up the scoreboard and igniting a new controversy

Well, then play Dak the full game. I'm arguing against having him sit.

I do this.....if we win the top seed after week 15, I give Dak the 1st half of the next game. Then, I give Romo the remainder of the game. I repeat against the Eagles. This allows Dak to stay game ready, while allowing Romo some real game time to shake off the rust, before heading into the post season.

We win the next 3 games and Seattle loses 1 in that span, and we win the top seed.

It's hard for me to believe that Romo would be embarrassed or otherwise offended by being told to play once HFA is locked up. Leaving aside that he's a total pro who understands how this game works, it's an opportunity to do what he loves to do and does better than all but a handful of people on the planet. You never know what such an opportunity could lead to. Just ask Dak.

Yeah, I am not sure why playing him in these circumstances would be embarrassing to him. He hasn't played in over a year, get him some reps. He probably wants them....

I guess another risk of playing him is if he looks really good and Dak struggles a bit, you tempt Jerry into pulling a Buffalo owner and ordering Garrett to start Romo over Dak in the playoffs--like Wade was ordered to start Rob Johnson over Flutie and lost because of it.......

If you think that is why they lost then you are forgetting one of the most unforgettable plays in NFL history...

Yeah, Rob Johnson was a sitting duck in that game in the pocket. Flutie was the better choice for an over pursuing defense that featured Jevon Kearse, but yeah it all came down to one play.

The Music City Miracle was the dagger. But I think a lot of people who followed that Buffalo team would argue that Flutie would never have had the Bills in a position to lose on a memorable trick/fluke play. Of course, it's all conjecture. But it's the sort of stuff that's tempting to believe given the way Flutie had the Bills playing heading into the playoffs.
