If we go 9-8 to end the season with Rush, should there be a QB controversy?

No, you guys don't watch games. The defense was horrible in the first half of games. Mac didn't figure out his rb til now and the oline was bad. I bet if dak was here for the games against Philly and Houston he would have won those games with how the oline improved and the fact the defense kept them in the game.

If this team ends up finishing 9-8 to end the regular season, should there be a QB controversy? It would be something to behold to see Cooper Rush bringing us to a 9-8 record after a dismal 3-5 start. You almost have to consider benching Dak at that point. What say you Cowboys?!
Right now, despite the wins coming against flawed teams with flawed defenses, the offense is scoring less than 2 TD's per game, rushing and passing combined. Rush has 5 TD passes in 4.5 games. There has been only 1 rushing TD by the offense. That's 6 offensive TD's in 4.5 games. Barely beating bad teams when special teams and defense score and get turnovers is not likely to lead to a QB controversy.

Cooper Rush is okay as a backup QB because he knows the offense and protects the ball, though he's had several dropped Ints. But he has no future in the NFL as a starter. Frankly, we should be developing a young, athletic QB as the backup.

Zero chance they wouldn't start Dak in any game if he's 100% healthy. He's playing unless he's hurt.

He's already had all that, why would it be different a second time?
Maybe it won't be, but no QB is going to win against good teams with this offense. Quinn's defenses couldn't hold up against good, physical teams and never could stop the run in the playoffs. Now we are on the right track defensively, but we still need players on that side of the field. Dak is not Mahomes or Favre or Rodgers or Brady. But, like Romo, give him weapons on offense, a decent running game for balance, and a competent defense that can stop the run, and he has a chance to take us where we want to go.

Unfortunately, Jerry and son always seem to neglect 1 critical part of a championship team. Sometimes it's the OL, sometimes it's the WRs, most of the time it's the defense, and this year we've added the RB position. You don't need stars at every position, but on offense you need 2-3 weapons, a run game for balance, and none of it matters if you don't have a competent defense. QB is the least of my worries until those things improve.

Houston....maybe but I doubt it. Philly no chance. For the record unless the Cowboys have a better alternative than Rush I'm not advocating for any sort of QB change or even competition, however I wouldn't just completely downplay the effect Rush has had on the team. Rush doesnt have half the physical talent Dak does, but I do continue to be impressed with Rush's ability to run the offense pre snap and I think you're seeing some of that benefit the other 10 guys on the field.

Oh my...the Imma better, more knowledgeable fan than ALL of you routine.

Suddenly with Coop...mac figured out the run game and the O line is better and the defense is better. What a coincidence.

I don't hate rush but he's not balling out. If he starts to average close to 300 yards a game with 3 td's a game then maybe things could be different. But anyone who watches the game and is honest about what they see knows Dak is better than rush (even though Dak isn't worth the new contract he received).

I don't think Rush is capable to be a full time starter with is lack of arm strength and lack of running ability.
Just having some fun, hence the laughing thing.

But in all reality he has been, is, and will be the starter. And everything you mentioned would help HIM too. Right?

You know at face value this is a laughable comment, but seriously Jerry probably does consider this stuff when building a team.

" how many jerseys can I sell with this player?" No wonder this team is such a mess thanks to our wonderful GM

I know its stupid, but that's how jerry thinks. why else would he want to draft Johnny Manziel!!! to be back up to Romo...only to bring notorioty to cowboys, keep them in the news and can you imagine how many Manziel jerseys he would sell.

Cooper is good at what he does. He’s not a full time starter in this league though. Jerruh and Spaulding committed 240m to Dak he’s not sitting. The reality is Dak will be the starter here barring injury a minimum 2 years, and Dallas will have to decide if they’re going to draft someone to take over in the coming drafts. It would be nice if they didn’t waste capital on projects like Lance.

I’ll be there to discuss when this happens.

I do have a feeling that regardless of the final record it will be a popular off season topic. Especially if Rush is resigned.

I think the Cowboys could have gone 9-8 the last three seasons with Rush, not this season. If the goal is only to make the playoffs, why are they paying someone 60M a year? We can make the playoffs for much less. But that option is now off the table. Now that they paid him, they're going to play him. He'd have to turn into Russel Wilson with the Broncos to be benched.

This is how I feel about Dak, as well. I think he’s overpaid big time and would have let him walk before shelling out $60 million for him, especially at his age. However, I’ve always felt that Jerry and the front office let this team, and by extension Dak, down big time by not aggressively seeking to fill obvious holes that created fatal flaws for a franchise supposedly wanting to win a SB. I think Dak is good enough to win a SB. However, the FO always went with the strategy that they hoped the flaws and obvious holes could be overcome by “being around the rim and getting a lucky bounce” and Dak isn’t good enough to win anything with that mindset. He needs fully fleshed out teams with as much talent as can be attained. Dallas went with the minimalist approach, instead.

Loser mentality…

It certainly puts money in their pockets, though.
