He finished with the one right down the middle. I don’t care what he did before that. It’s how you finish. So many overreactions.

My god heads are always rolling around here. You guys do not need an excuse to go after McCarthy or Jerry. Maher has been over 90% before the current misses. There are not kickers out there you could bring in and expect much from. Had this been early in the season Cowboys could bring in kickers to try and resolve it but at this stage not much you can do you got to ride Maher
This is is nuts. You can't find a kicker who didn't just shank 5 XPs in a row?

*** kinda gobbley-goop is THIS attempt at a post and word salad. So you’re saying that the only viable NFL placekickers are already on the extant 32 teams - and that all other placekickers have gone into hibernation or have retired?!?

Hate to break up your antisceptic/cartoonish worldview - but this life with nigh 9 billion human inhabitants is almost entirely based on the concept of competition - and there’s some qualified applicant likely looking over YOUR shoulder hoping for a crack at YOUR JOB. But please remain oblivious to the concept of competition.
You call that gibberish a post? We’re talking about a placekicker and you’re coming off like some hung over English professor trying to make yourself look smart. Lol Take that word salad you just put together and go waste someone else’s time.

First of all, these specialist kickers are pretty much regularly working out and plying their trade. At least the good ones - in hopes of receiving THAT CALL. Jeez! It’s almost like the idea of a replacement kicker being called up is some kinda freaking alien concept. You shut-in kids need to kinda put down the remote and game controller and actually open your eyes to all the life/career struggles taking place around you. Be present and aware. It will help you be prescient.
And yet, like all athletes, there are differing levels of skill. The fan sees players as something you can go to Walmart and replace with no problems.

Maher had a bad night. Regardless of the arm chair coaches on this site, that happens. And he has been money all year.

Much ado about nothing. Frankly, from my armchair, I might go for two and bring in the WR's and spread out the defense. But then I understand I don't know ish from Shinola.

Now back to my off topic replies to this thread.

Heads should rightly roll, but who gets the blame (besides Maher)? McCarthy or Jerry?
You’re thinking too small. Way too small. Missing a field goal isn’t the reason you lose games. There’s much more going on previously. I swear the panic on this forum over one player is crazy. It’s like you guys lost Dak to fight about so now you turn your pitchforks to Maher. LOL.

Maher has been called "Money Maher" by just about everyone on the team. That he goes off the rails in the first playoff game is something NO ONE could foresee, not even with a crystal ball. He gave little indication prior to the Bucs game that it wasn't business as usual. Can't blame anybody but the kicker on that one.

I might go for 2 on the first td. If they make it, I would kick on the 2nd td and see how it goes from there.

It really would suck, but it seems every year a team advances on some lucky break...or doesnt on some bad break

the Giants won a Super Bowl when the Patriots kicker missed a fairly easy kick. So Parcells got a ring due to Pats kicker missing 40 yarder
the Giants advanced in the 2007 playoffs when Crayton didn't complete his route....nothing they did, just dumb luck
then the Giants had the totally lucky helmet catch after Manning threw it up for grabs in the 2007 Super Bowl

Cowboys lost 3 playoff games on weird events
2006....unbroken in K ball and starting QB playing special teams
2007....easy TD for the win, but WR stopped his route
2014....Dez catch overturned, though maybe they still dont win. we'll never know.

Good point. (no pun intended)
This should not be overlooked.
He made the last kick he attempted.
Because it's physiological, that made all the difference in his head.

With that being said, I'll be holding my breath on every attempt
against SF.

More than terrified. He looked like he needed a welfare check that evening. He was absolutely broken.
He looked like someone said to him,
"Dak's really pissed at you. I haven't seen him this mad since Amari called him
a black Kirk Cousins"... lol

Vegas lost to SFO only by a FG!! Most championship games are that close! You've got to have a dependable kicker. :banghead:

2006....unbroken in K ball and starting QB playing special teams- also that Witten play should have been first and goal and no FG needed.

2007....easy TD for the win, but WR stopped his route- Crayton also dropped a 1st down..

"2014....Dez catch overturned, though maybe they still dont win. we'll never know." Dan Baily also missed 2 fgs and Murray fumbled in this same game. this might have been our best team Romo was part of and mistakes cost us the game.

Id like game without something weird happening even last week Mahers yips made it more of story then it should have lol.now we have to think about it every time he walks on the field..
