If we lost because of 4 missed kicks. Then yeah I am.blaming himAny kicker can miss a kick that costs you a game.
Any receiver can drop a pass. Any RBs can fumble or slip. Any defender can miss a tackle or blow an assignment. Any holder can bobble the snap that costs you a playoff win .
It happens. I’m not blaming Maher for a loss on a missed kick unless he just melts down again and misses several.
But that could happen to any kicker. That’s why in that situation we are sitting on the edge of our seats with our fingers crossed and holding our breath instead of popping champagne when the FG team lines up.If he lines up for a 46 yard game winner and shanks it................that would be brutal, go ask Ohio State how they feel.
HAHA I'm literally dying laughing. But, yea for sure. If he misses a 45 yard FG, down by 2, with 5 seconds left, let's get the candles, dark hooded robes and a concrete table with straps. If he costs us next week the Cowboys should have their own 'ritual' and that should be a literal human sacrifice of you know who.
I like the way this post addresses the OP’s premise regarding the kicking game. There are many reasons why I would really like for this team to win it all this year. First is the joy of adding another trophy to the trophy case, and knowing Dallas, most likely, had to beat the eagles a second time to get there and succeed.
And I admit, bragging rights have something to do with it.
But a huge reason is the fandom of this team, that denigrates everything that falls short of the Cowboys beating each opponent by 20 points or more, and owning all of the stats.
It just seems like people don't enjoy the successes. And in the final analysis, if Dallas were to close the deal, how many here would look back and realize they spent a championship season whining and not enjoying the ride.
Risen… somebody who actually gets it.Can we all agree that he completely broke down mentally last night? Like it was one of the worst performances by a kicker in league history.
That's the guy you want making a pressure kick against the 49ers? Because you don't "know" the street free agent like you know this choke artist?
First of all, these specialist kickers are pretty much regularly working out and plying their trade. At least the good ones - in hopes of receiving THAT CALL. Jeez! It’s almost like the idea of a replacement kicker being called up is some kinda freaking alien concept. You shut-in kids need to kinda put down the remote and game controller and actually open your eyes to all the life/career struggles taking place around you. Be present and aware. It will help you be prescient. After what we saw last night not really, but we’re pretty stuck having gone this far with him. He only missed 2 FG’s all season. I still trust him more than some kicker that’s been sitting on the street the entire season.
My god heads are always rolling around here. You guys do not need an excuse to go after McCarthy or Jerry. Maher has been over 90% before the current misses. There are not kickers out there you could bring in and expect much from. Had this been early in the season Cowboys could bring in kickers to try and resolve it but at this stage not much you can do you got to ride MaherHeads should rightly roll, but who gets the blame (besides Maher)? McCarthy or Jerry?
Uh…. HELLOOOOOOOOO!?!Any kicker can miss a kick that costs you a game.

Agree. I didnt like it. Leaves less margin of error due to the angle. And adds an extra complexity to the kick. He also appeared line up weird for the first one.Do they have to kick from that hash? I can’t remember the rule.
These kickers that are sitting around without a team aren’t applying their trade in games. The good ones aren’t sitting around without a team in January. Maher had one bad game and it would be a real knee-jerk to replace him for a divisional round playoff game with a kicker who’s been sitting around all season waiting for their phone to ring. Teams don’t call up kickers for the playoffs. You need to put down your remote and game controller and open your eyes. The only chance Maher gets replaced this week is if he’s continuing to struggle with PAT’s in practice and also is missing chip shot FGs. He’s going to have to look pretty hopeless for the Cowboys to make a change four days before a divisional round playoff game.First of all, these specialist kickers are pretty much regularly working out and plying their trade. *** kinda gobbley-goop is THIS attempt at a post and word salad. So you’re saying that the only viable NFL placekickers are already on the extant 32 teams - and that all other placekickers have gone into hibernation or have retired?!?These kickers that are sitting around without a team aren’t applying their trade in games.
