If we make the playoffs is there a point?

Giving up 400+ yards to every decent passer they've faced doesn't bode well in the playoffs.

Anything can happen in the playoffs, man. Anything.

Eli Manning winning two rings would've shown you that.

Home game against 49ers and we lose. I am usually positive but this is probably best case scenario unless more major injuries like cutler happen around the league. We are good enough to beat the bad teams but cannot come through against playoff caliber teams.

I rather lose out on the division title and have a new beginning. I don't want to get in the playoffs and lose the first game only to have the old stuff going on with this team.

You can't play in heartbreaking losses if they aren't close. Maybe we get lucky and catch a bounce or two, so yes.

This team has been losing heartbreaking games for years. How many years is it going to take to finally say that we have arrived?

I agree, I said that was likely best case scenario. Getting to the playoffs and losing is not a moral victory for the season, it is still losing.

Say we back into the division title. Is there even a point. Our DB's can do jack and our Offense can't capitalize on the turnovers we do get.

Don't worry about this.

I'm betting they don't win more then 2 more all season.

This is the beginning of the end of the Jason Garrett era.

They would need to be like 10-6 to get that and really don't see us winning 6 out of 8.

The end is coming fast for Garrett and many of these players who are constantly injured and not playing.

House cleaning coming soon.

I'd rather make it than not since we haven't been in 4 years but I get your point. We will be lucky to win a game at home.

Getting to the playoffs means only one thing, Jerry has a reason to keep Garrett.

Yes, because this team has an offense that can score points in bunches and the defense can cause turn overs. Plus single elimination playoffs are, by their nature, crap shoots.

I know we **** on the D, but I feel your point a defense that cause turnover can really mess thing up for the opposition.

I swear... Do you make the most money where you work? If not, is there a point? If so, do you make the most money in your state? If not, is there a point? If so, do you make the most money in the nation? If not, is there a point? If so, do you make the most money in the world? If not, is there a point? If so, will you keep it after you die? If not, is there a point? Will everyone agree with your original post? If not, was there a point?

To be serious though, you DO know that as soon as one team wins the Super Bowl all the teams go right back to work on the next season... right? So what was really the point? Duane Thomas said one time of the Super Bowl, "If it is the ultimate game, why are they playing it again next year?"

In other words, there IS a point. There is even a point for the teams that won't make the playoffs. Enjoy the season for what it is. Competition and entertainment. I'll take making the playoffs anytime.

One of the most amazing things in Cowboys History was Tom Landry's 20 straight winning seasons from 1966 to 1985. By this mentality, those don't matter. Every year you win your divisions, it matters. Every year you make the playoffs, it matters. Even if you get knocked out in the first game there, it matters. Does it matter as much as a Super Bowl win? No.

But if the only thing that can make you happy and satisfied is a Super Bowl win then why have a favorite team? Why not simply enjoy the entire game and root for the front runners every single year? Be a fan of everyone and just enjoy the game. If that is all that matters what do you have to lose?

I'd rather be invested in something that I genuinely care about, good or bad, and have that investment matter to me. I want to have a better winning % than any NFL team. Right now we are 2nd to the Bears. I want to have more post season wins than any other team. Right now we're tied with the Steelers who do not look like they are getting in. Even one win will matter to me. I want the Cowboys to own more divisions crowns than any other NFL team. Right now we do, and I don't mind stretching the lead.

I want to be proud of every winning season like the 20 year stretch of Tom Landry. 9-7 matters to me. Not as much as 13-3, but it matters. We are trying to return to that consistent winning ways. Hell yes it matters.

To anyone it doesn't, how utterly sad. You're missing out on so much that is great about this team if it doesn't.

I feel sorry for fans who don't have enough sense to enjoy whatever success their favorite team has. Hoping the team tanks so the coach gets fired, rooting for losses, appreciating the success of others but not applying that same logic to the team you love is ********. I want the Cowboys to win every game. That's why I'm a fan. The likelihood of the winning is irrelevant. I am on the Cowboys side (even when they're not favored) and proud of it. Championships have to start somewhere. We can't predict the future, but we do know that in order to win it all, it has to start with making the playoffs. Sometimes you have to make the playoffs for consecutive years before you get over the proverbial hump. It can't happen if you don't make the postseason. Any fan who is unhappy about the Cowboys making the playoffs needs to find something else to do besides investing time and emotion in this team.

Of course there's a point! Our offense can compete and our Dline is flying under the radar.
