Looking at our remaining schedule and factoring in the way we've played lately, I don't see the play-offs in our future. We get beat out by one game again.
Say we back into the division title. Is there even a point. Our DB's can do jack and our Offense can't capitalize on the turnovers we do get.
We won't win the division. The Commanders will. They're beating the Broncos 14-7 in the 3rd quarter. If they will, they'll be 1/2 game behind us.
One of the most amazing things in Cowboys History was Tom Landry's 20 straight winning seasons from 1966 to 1985. By this mentality, those don't matter. Every year you win your divisions, it matters. Every year you make the playoffs, it matters. Even if you get knocked out in the first game there, it matters. Does it matter as much as a Super Bowl win? No.
But if the only thing that can make you happy and satisfied is a Super Bowl win then why have a favorite team? Why not simply enjoy the entire game and root for the front runners every single year? Be a fan of everyone and just enjoy the game. If that is all that matters what do you have to lose?
I'd rather be invested in something that I genuinely care about, good or bad, and have that investment matter to me. I want to have a better winning % than any NFL team. Right now we are 2nd to the Bears. I want to have more post season wins than any other team. Right now we're tied with the Steelers who do not look like they are getting in. Even one win will matter to me. I want the Cowboys to own more divisions crowns than any other NFL team. Right now we do, and I don't mind stretching the lead.
I want to be proud of every winning season like the 20 year stretch of Tom Landry. 9-7 matters to me. Not as much as 13-3, but it matters. We are trying to return to that consistent winning ways. Hell yes it matters.
To anyone it doesn't, how utterly sad. You're missing out on so much that is great about this team if it doesn't.

Great post and point TH. Get this team healthy for the stretch run.The team that gets hot late in the season is usually the most dangerous. Records don't mean anything once the playoffs start, but at least one home game helps.
Maybe I'm an optimist, but what if this team starts putting it together in December instead of petering out after a hot start in September and October like years past?
I think having experience with this no name d line will be huge in December. And if the rest of our d gets healthy than all the better. I am convinced this offense always gives us a chance, even if we don't run the ball.

Yes there's a point. The team IS talented enough to win against anyone when they're firing on all cylinders. That doesn't mean it will happen though.
If we make the playoffs, I get to watch my Cowboys play for at least 3 more hours. What more "point" is there to being a fan?Say we back into the division title. Is there even a point. Our DB's can do jack and our Offense can't capitalize on the turnovers we do get.
There's that "inconsistency" thing again. We beat teams with sub-.500 records extremely consistently, we lose to teams with >.500 records extremely consistently, and we consistently end up around .500. What could be more consistent than that? Football Outsiders has us as the 8th most consistent team in the league. Why do people think the Cowboys are inconsistent? The only thing this team is good at is being inconsistent.
