If we sign a solid FA offensive lineman, will you be satsified with this offseason?

It will help, but the lack of attention to the defensive side of the trenches is bothering. It's no secret that the integral cog in Monte's scheme is a penetrating 3 technique DT. I don't see that guy on the roster. That's scary. But, these guys know a hell of a lot more about it than I do so, at this point, I'll just have to concede that they see something I don't that they can work with.

Me, I would want one more solid OL and one more solid DL and then I would be happy..

Preferably a RT and a solid guy who can flex on Dline.

Would have liked to get two interior linemen and a tackle, but it'll be a major upgrade if only two of the positions get replaced.

Theoretically we may still be able to have Costa at C/G and T-Fed at the other C/G position. That would be the same as getting two new interior OL and a tackle.

Thoughts?

no

i like frederick and hope that he will our long-term starting OC but

we had the oportunity in a draft deep at OL, DL, safety to get value starters at every single one of those positions and make those areas the strengths of our team for a long time but did a poor job of doing so

as usual we fell in love with TE, WR, CB to the detriment of the trenches and picked up a project at safety when there were clear starters on the board

the draft was OK but could have been much better

RT is the key spot needed right now; after that, it's all about depth.

No. In a draft rich with linemen, we came away with a total of 1 player while using 2 picks in the secondary.

That's bad for next year but even worse for the future as "the real strength of this team" the DL declines into the OL debacle status.

It was another offseason of not prioritizing the line of scrimmage in a real way. No Band-Aid FA is going to change that.

this. one more above average OL and one above average DL and i think we've had a successful offseason

We also need a DL, anyone who thinks what we have will hold up an entire season and be good is delusional

I'd like an OL and a DL still, but that's probably optimistic given our cap situation.

I do like this team again, though. And I have no regrets about not loading up on a bunch of developmental OLs that we don't really have room for.

Just like this time last year it's clear as day that we would need to draft OL early in the 2013 draft.

Well we still need that and it looks like DL will be our first pick next year.

That pretty much sums up the way I felt about the draft as well. In a draft deep in our most urgent needs, we didn't do enough to shore up those positions. The TE, WR and the CB we did draft look like solid players but weren't immediate needs. We needed stronger picks in the trenches and at safety. Only one OL pick and another project safety, we already have one of those, was disheartening. Could have been better.

I don't even think it's worth it at this point. Might as well roll with what we have and track to attack the next draft for linemen. Scraping the bottom of the barrel landed us with Livings and Bernadeau, I'm not in a hurry to repeat that.

I don't want any aging castaway stopping us from taking OL next year as well.

It's a weird draft because I truly like every player in it but as a whole it doesn't fix what ails this team. Frederick is a big piece but we needed more. To completely ignore the DL is unacceptable. To have the GM tell us it's a position of strength on this team is scary.

Then I look at the UDFA class and not a single lineman is in sight. It'd be nice to at least get some developmental prospects in the pipeline.

When we line up next fall are we that much different of a team? I don't think we are. It's going to be up to Romo again to overcome. When he's running for his life after this "Romo friendly" draft, somebody needs to remind him that at least Witten and Dez have better backups this year.

If it's Winston or Moore, I will feel better about our chances. If Free is one of our five starters - same goes for Phil Costa unless the Raven game wasn't a fluke - I see Tony running for his life on many plays, just less compared to last year thanks to the Frederick pick. But still a major problem.

I'd be screaming bloody murder if you switched the roster and FOs of our teams. You managed to not fill holes AND not draft BPA except at a few places. And there were interior line projects to take. And better safeties than Wilcox (Always be leery of guys who rise after the games stop being played). And Escobar could be a decent player especially if Witten declines soon, but didn't you have a project TE? And shoehorning the 2 TE set doesn't really work that often.

You're right, it was a strange draft and not just where the Cowboys are concerned, but strange overall. Same here, I liked the players we did draft with the exception of Wilcox. We took a step in the right direction, but we didn't take enough steps. We just didn't do enough to control the LOS on either side of the ball.
