If you are Leary do you demand a trade?

you make it sound like offensive lineman cant adjust and play other positions on the line. if youre talented enough, which Collins is, then you can adjust and be good even great at another position. Remember Tyron was a right tackle in college, Martin was a left tackle, Larry Allen played just about every position on the line expect center. i think collins could play left tackle, right tackle and guard at a very high level. i wouldnt pidgeon hole him into a single spot. play him where he is most valuable. play the best 5

There are countless offensive lineman in the league that have experience playing other line positions, doesn't mean they are a fit there in the NFL and coaches certainly aren't in a rush to put them there. Collins is "versatile", cool, but that doesn't mean he's the ideal player for the RT position. His skill set fits guard far more than tackle.

so youre telling me that a guy who was considered a top 15 1st round talent at left tackle suddenly has the best skill set for guard? i give you that he has shorter arms then you would want at left tackle but man i think your underselling this guy. he could start day 1 at right tackle if they start him there first day of training camp and be really really good. He's played both guard and tackle in college so I will just let the coaches and personnel people decide where he fits best.

He is in a contract year, and he basically just found out he will almost for sure be a backup this year, do you do what you can to get out of Dallas or are you content with being a backup knowing that with this line you will likely see some action. I don't see the Cowboys wanting to trade him (Berdy is basically the only backup interior lineman we have right now) but I don't see Leary wanting to stay here either.

Ron Leary is a darn good offensive lineman who played very well last season. I feel bad for him as he will be more than likely replaced.

I say let Leary and Collins battle it out for that guard position; let Bernardeau be the backup center; and have the two draftee OT battle it out to backup the tackles.

I just would not kick Ron Leary to the curb or trade him.

Most scouts said he CAN'T play LT, this isn't just my opinion. There was also debate as to whether he was best fit at RT or Guard in the NFL. He has FAR MORE negatives about him when it comes to RT, like footwork and balance. He has everything you want in a guard.

No one is underselling him. Martin played LT in college, should we have put him at RT? Obviously, he's fit at guard. Same with Collins.

I don't feel bad for Leary at all, he'll get a big payday when he walks after this season. He's going to be just fine.

I know Leary was an Exclusive Rights Free Agent this past offseason.

Is he a RFA or UFA this offseason?

LEARY would be giving up 2-3-4 Super Bowl rings - If I am Ron Leary, I accept my backup role and be OLman #6 and collect rings.......He will be given his opportunity next year as a FA, but probably a RFA and Jerry will again cash in on another COMP pick

Don't feel sorry for Leary....I think 90% of the poster are missing the plan.....Cowboys are hoping for Collin's to replace Free in the next 12-18months.......Leary is a cheap against the cap, young, a good guard that has a future on the Cowboys OL....Free is older...injuries are a concern and cost much more.....Don't care what the poster say....Leary is the starting LG...Love Free but with his age, injuries and cap hit, Free is the biggest liability on the Cowboys OL.

just done put the cart before the horse, Collins has proved NOTHIN at the NFL level....great prospect, but this aint LSU....

I'd love for Collins to replace Free next season, but just from a financial aspect, it makes more sense to draft a guard in the 2nd or 3rd round to replace Leary. If that rookie isn't ready to start, then keep Free one more season with La'el at LG for 2 years.
