Leary. he is the better physical player.

He is one of the guys. They are better with him.
Yeah. If I had to choose it would be Leary. Right now, Collins scares me in pass pro. He's a beast when he just has to fire out and block for the bell cow but you also have to protect the QB. Leary does it all well.

Here's to hoping Collins works on that pass pro this offseason and comes back COMPLETE.

Leary was not Leary in his 1st or 2nd year. Leary in his 2nd year made a lot of mistakes

I think we keep Collins but if Leary is currently the better fit what about a trade
and redrafting a guard. I know you dont trade away talent but this is a little different
circumstances. We might could get a first for Collins and then have some real power in the draft
to move around and still acquire a high pick for a replacement guard. Say a second for the guard.
I CAN SEE THE ROCKS ALREADY BEING THROWN.
Just for discussion,for gosh sake.

lol yeah I know. It's a hypothetical. If I had to choose between the two right now, I would take Leary. Collins is most definitely the future.

Maybe if we had a detached GM, we don't. Biggest fault and the biggest reason I like Jerry is his attachment to his players.

I think he's a UFA. He only signed a 3 year deal. Since he was FA, it was allowed and also let him get to a possible big contract sooner.
All players with less than 4 years service time are RFAs....they don't get UFA any sooner than drafted players........as UDFAs they do get to sign extensions after year 2 instead of year 3 like drafted players

I think we keep Collins younger and woulda been top 5 pick if nothing happened with his ex. Collins will learn more of offense and get better and better w oline overall.

Only Leary's contract is due. Since Leary has played at a Pro Bowl level all season, & Collins has yet to prove he's even as good, let alone better, it's a moot point. I would give Collins half the reps at RT next TC & see if he can unseat Free. Gotta sign Leary...period.

Teams have restricted rights until a player accrues 4 years of service time. He would be a RFA.

Successful cap/roster management is a lot like running a successful offense,,, it's best to stay ahead of the sticks <insert Patriots reference here>

Having said that, successful roster management means having viable depth too,,, I wonder what the Cowboys plans are for replenishing the OL depth while also trying to rebuild the defense.

They need to draft OL in rounds 3 and later. A third round G/C type suits me fine.

Right now the answer is neither. Collins hasn't done enough to get paid yet and Leary is likely to get paid more then he's worth on the open market.
yep, I favor leary, he is proven , collins is still a maybe.
Best to keep both.

Collins, because he is younger and will still be relatively cheap over the next 2 years. No doubt that Leary is the better starter in 2016, but Leary is going to get paid this offseason, as he should. Just be happy that he might fetch Dallas a 5th round conditional draft pick with what kind of money some team will throw at him.

Lol. I thought this was a "if you could keep one now" fun hypothetical...

If we are answering seriously based upon what we suspect after the season, my pick is Collins no doubt. He will become an all-around monster and Leary is gonzo at the end of the season. Leary has played himself into a big payday that we won't be able to accommodate.

This is a tough one. Before this season, i would've said Collins hands down, for obvious reasons. But Leary has really tightened up his game since 2014, not that he was suspect at all but he has improved. He brings that reliable mauling nasty attitude to the OL. And for an OG, it's not unrealistic to expect him to perform the same from age 28-32 over a 4 year contract. I'd lean towards Leary….the scouts and OL coaches would have to sell me on Collins' tremendous upside to become a potential All-Pro...

Leary, hands down. He's the better player and has developed great chemistry with the rest of the line.

Leary is only 27 so it's not as if he's in the twilight of his career...he has a lot of football ahead of him.
