If you could only pick one movie

For me, it's a tie between "Patton", and "Gone With The Wind".

The first movie to ever blow me away was Star Wars (1977). I think I saw it 6 times in the theaters during the original release.

The next movie to capture my attention was Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981). This came out at a time when I was fascinated by anthropology and archaeology. This inspired me towards my first major when I got to college.

The next most influential movie for me was Jaws. I lived on the Florida coast when I was growing up, and it hit close to home. Not really a favorite, as it scared the mess out of me. But still, a very powerful film experience.

Honorable mention: Rocky and The Princess Bride.

I love movies - I even built a theater in my basement. I have a lot of recent movies that I have thoroughly enjoyed that have better acting, effects, cinematography, etc. However, nothing has influenced/inspired/amazed/entertained me like those movies from my youth.

True Romance

Hey! Get some beer and some cleaning products!

For the longest time I would have said My Cousin Vinny. That movie always cracks me up, but even that movie gets tired after the 1000x times of watching it. I still love it and will watch it, but now I don't always stop and watch it if it's on TV.

Besides, watching movies on regular TV blows goats. I hate commercials and I hate silencing of words. (and missing scenes they had to remove to make room for commercials)

"Shawshank" if I had to pick one.

Others in consideration...

"The Good, The Bad And The Ugly"
"Dawn Of The Dead" (original)
"The Shining"
"Jaws"
"Emperor Of The North"
"Aliens"
"Godzilla" (1954)
"Young Frankenstein"

Aliens would definitely be my second choice.
Young Frankenstein is another good one.

LOTR if I can have the trilogy as someone else said :)

If not, hmm. Maybe Armageddon.

STAR WARS

Saw it when I was a kid and it changed everything.

A new favorite has trumped my old one... Inglourious Basterds trumps Reservoir Dogs.

Jean de Florette.

Other possibilities:
Brazil
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
