...and get good value, without implications to the salary cap. Who would you trade and what would you want to trade them for? Draft pick(s)? Player(s)?

What would be the draft picks? Who would you want?

I would like to see what others are thinking about this roster.

Jason Witten..

Yup I said it. We're better off moving on now before it's too late. With that said we won't get any value for Witten and his leadership " is" valuable now. So there you have it.

Doug Free...for a bag of Cheetos and a six pack of Shiner (or a decent RT).

I know this is going to be controversial, bit Romo. He really is the only player of value who could fetch a first-round pick and maybe a third.
If you doubt he can lead this team to a championship within the next two years, you trade him now. If this team is built right and coached right, you should be able to get a Ryan Fitzpatrick and get to a NFC Championship with a power-running game and a bus driver under center.

Nobody is giving away a 1 for romo...let alone a 1&3..secondly, this team isn't built right, so RF can't lead us anywhere

I don't know if you would get that much for Romo currently. If he has a good year anything is possible. For me this is just dialogue. You shouldn't even worry about controversy That's going to happen with passionate fans. On this board we would argue that water is wet, the sky is blue, etc...LOL

At 36 and coming off three straight seasons with injuries only Denver prior to the draft might have given up a #1 for Romo. I seriously doubt they would have packaged it with a #3. The best you could hope for with him right now would be a #2.

Doubt we could even get a 2

Dez Bryant... and I probably wouldn't even trade him. If he truly is poised for a comeback after last years fiasco, I want the Cowboys to be the ones that benefit from him but if all he has is what he gave last season while in the game then trade him. Get it done before everyone else figures out what he is now.

Romo is more valuable to the Cowboys than any draft pick they could get for him. When you look at our backup QB situation the Cowboys are a 2-5 win team at best without him. We're 1-13 the past three seasons without Romo.

Without question....the chump change a team would offer us wouldn't even be worth considering

But if you could trade him for a tidy sum...would you? What if you thought it would bring you a Super Bowl title or two...do you reconsider? Or do you only worry about the here and now? Just asking, because I generally agree with you for the now part.

Just playing this game here:

I would try to trade Zack Martin for a top safety or corner. I think we could still have a dominant Oline with Leary and Collins at Guard.

The tidy sum would have to include another franchise QB to replace him with. If you trade Romo you're going to have to use some if not all of the resources you get for him to replace him and if you don't replace him with a top flight QB the trade blows up in your face. You're far from guaranteed to come up with a franchise QB with the draft picks you get for him.

There might not be a QB worth taking high in the draft with any of the picks you get for him. If you're getting the #1 overall pick for Romo and there's a highly touted QB sitting there that everyone is drooling over I would take that trade with no hesitation because Romo's clock is ticking. However if I'm not assuring myself of a QB at least equal to him then I'm not making the trade.

We still have time with Romo to get to a SB if we can fix some of the other areas of the team. I'm going to continue to build around Romo because without him we can't win. Romo is the last player I would trade on this team and all you have to do is go back to last season to see why.

If you're going to trade a player and get anything worthwhile that has a chance to make you a better team at least down the road it has to be a younger player. Dez is about the only player we could trade that could bring us anything of real value. With him coming off an injury plagued season not sure you could get a whole lot for him right now.

Realistically, getting a 3rd for Leary would be a win in my book.

I'm not interested in trading any core players at this point, and outside of the offensive line, there really isn't much talent waiting in the wings to take over.
