If you don't like Byron Jones pull up the game tape of Dallas playing Detroit

Not me.....if you wanted a CB/FS then you shoulda taken Randall

Jones is a much better play than Randell. I wanted Randell simply for the fact that I was happy that we were finally looking at getting a true FS, but Jones is easily a better talent. Not sure he'd be a better FS but he's the better player by far.

Problem with this is that hes soft. "Big/Physical" Doesn't work out real well for guys that are afraid of contact. I am hoping he works out.. He has a ton of potential. My issue is that I like guys with the eye of the tiger on defense who have that dog in them and he doesn't. Hope he turns out to be a good player but I would have taken Gregory or Malcom Brown
I'm beginning to think of the people that say he's soft like the people that used to rag on Romo all the time. It's a pretty useful litmus test for whether someone has any idea what they're talking about.

Have you watched his tape? I have watched every single thing I could find on him on draft breakdown. Watching a guy with my own eyes avoid contact is a pretty useful litmus test to whether someone has any desire to play with toughness.

It was solid pick at 27, which in most drafts are guys that graded into the low 1st or high 2nd. There were some reaches by other teams that were reall head scratchers, Lion drafting guard after trading for a guard. Eagles drafted Maclin2.0 possibly but let the real Maclin go. The Browns were the Browns again, liked the guard not the DT at that spot he was drafted. A lot of 3-4 OLB in this draft not many 4-3 DEs so far. I have feeling if Jones is the 4th corner, he will be the FS in the nickel with wilcox moving to SS and Church being the LB with Lee/Injury fill in guy.

I keep seeing Physical thrown out there. What's so physical about his game? I think that's the wrong word.

Pull up the game tape of Dallas playing Detroit on October 27, 2013. Megatron caught 14 passes for 329 because we didn't have a CB with any size that could cover a big WR. Brandon Carr had PTSD after that game for several weeks and it visibly affected his confidence.

Dallas filled its biggest defensive need a month ago when it signed Greg Hardy. Jones may not start right away, but when he does he solves our second biggest defensive need by giving the team a big CB who can cover the big WRs in the NFL.

Lol
Talk about a poorly conceived thread

Maybe not, if they plan on putting him at safety.

If this is the case then we need to address MO. Or have him come off the bench. No matter how cheap, he's a liability on the feild of play.

I would also hope we address WR #2, as well as upgrade the d line

You missed my point completely. He was cherry picking why they were in the Super Bowl. And completely ignoring the other side of the ball. Sorry, NE did not get to the Super Bowl because of their secondary. In fact, look at the Balt playoff game. They were torched by Baltimore. They won because of Brady. They also got going in the Super Bowl because of Brady in the 2nd half.

You better have a lot more than a good secondary to get to the Super Bowl. You know, like a defensive line. Something we don't have.

Lmao.
Hardy, Lawrence, Mincey, Gardner, Crawford , MCClain, Brent and Hayden are at a minimum competent defensive line. We will add to that at some point in the next couple of days.

Claiming we don't have a defensive line is simply erroneous.

His numbers at the combine > than his stats on the field. I prefer on field production. He may turn out to be a quality player but right now he's raw and inexperienced.

I would say "grabby" is a better word than physical. He has a tendency to grab on to players, all the way down the field. He is a walking penalty in the NFL if they don't clean that up. He doesn't look too comfortable unless he has his hands on the WR.

I would love for some tape of physicality. Is it because when he intercepts the ball his hands make an impact it screams a silent boom! Or when he tackles or jams (with his hands) the opposing WR/RB feels inhuman strength that isnt viewable by the average persons eyes. Or is it because of his athleticism that says, my gawd a broad jump and vertical like that! He must tackle with authority! ...

I would love to read the supporters list of pros. Maybe I'm missing something.
