If you had to fire one of these two today, and only one, who would you choose?

Wade. Garret knows that Wade has no authority. And even if he did, he wouldn't use it.

If Garret were coaching under someone like Shanahan, or Cowher, or even Parcells, you can bet that he would be forced to listen, and to change some of the things he does.

I know hindsight is 20/20, but damn, I wish we could have kept Sean Payton.

I don't think Sean Peyton would have done the things in Dallas that he is doing in New Orleans.

He would suffer from the same dysfunctional management structure that most other Head Coaches that have come through here have.

Garrett is awful.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Garrett get no job interviews after the season.

Then again, maybe Al Davis is stupid enough to hire Garrett.

I'd fire Garrett because I already know Wade is gone at years end. That way we could be assured of getting rid of both of them.

Sounds good to me.

Wade.

Garrett stays. If Romo gets his accuracy back and we have MORE catches and not drops - he looks like a genius.

Personally, I want to see this "Garrett" thing through.

Yea, fire the guy who has guided the #1 offense in the league, with his 2 top running backs injured, his QB slow out of the gate, and a team adjusting to some new receivers. I repeat, #1 in the league and you are talking about firing him? Man we have an intelligent fan base don't we? lol

Fire Wade. Do it yesterday.

This is well possible. I feel like Peyton is a bit more personable than Parcells, which is key with todays players. But you have to believe he would smack some of the players around a little bit. Wade never seems to get upset at anyone. And I think the players don't worry about making a mistake. I think Peyton would have been a fine balance between Parcells and the up tight attitude that was around here, and the loose attitude Wade has brought.

But I have to agree with what you are saying. I think the early years of Bill Parcells was the only time since Jimmy Johnson was here that Jerry really took a back seat to the head coach. That's probably why we didn't see any Galloway like trades. The Roy Williams deal (I don't think it was that smart) is a classic Jerry move. Do you think Parcells makes that deal?

Have not read the thread yet but I bet its 15-1 Wade.

Im with the Wade crowd. The when Wade is gone from here I will feel bad for him, he always seems so sad and he does get really happy when this team does good...sigh...bittersweet. Mostly sweet.

Garrett the offense continually makes stupid mistakes and the play calling and game plan is questionable at best.

I'd say Garrett. The defense can only do so much. The offense can't build leads by scoring TDs once they get into the redzone. That puts more pressure on a defense that we knew had a weak 2ndary and little depth on the Dline & LB corp going into the season. Guys get tired.

They're not being overwhelmed. They're giving up single score (or less) leads. The offense, IMO, isn't doing enough to help the defense.

Wade.

We need a coach that's gonna fire up the team on the sideline. Not mumble to himself when something goes wrong. Nice guy. But not the leader we need IMHO. I want a motivator. Someone who's vocal and gets the team pumped up. A guy who has that killer instinct and runs on emotion.

I would fire StayPuff.

offense is #1 in yardage and #7 in scoring while the defense is #21 in yardage and are tied with two teams (Pitt and SF) at #17 in pts allowed. It's week 5 in a "it's not how you start it's how you finish" league. We all know that this team has yet to play it's best ball but yet we want to blow it all up.

Patience young grasshoppers....We don't need to fire anyone!

Wade. Smart, disciplined football has to come from the top. If we have a good HC, then he'll indentify the weak areas and fix it.

I agree with this. The things that are consistent about our team are penalties and mistakes. The team looks unready to play and Wade Phillips looks like the wrong guy. I recognize there are other things wrong with the team but Wade has to be crawling in these guys heads to make them better. I just don't see it happening and as the injuries have mounted the problems have gotten worse. As backup players are forced onto the field due to injuries you have to emphasize mistake free football to help overcome the matchup problems. When the veterans make penalties at the same time the backups fight through their limitations you get ugly football and the HC has to step up and set the tone. Wade does not do that!

Unlike others here, I would not fire Garrett. We are moving the football and we are doing it with a suspect LT. I think he stays.

1) Wade Phillips
2) Jason Garrett

I'd choose 1, (although I think they both need to go, NOW) but the failure of "Mr Fix It's" defense to stop team after team from driving the length of the field for game winning/tying drives, coupled w/ his obvious disconnect from the OC, make it an easy choice for me.

On a side note, could someone explain to me why Norv Turner was such a bad choice again?

  1. Fire Wade yesterday not today...
  2. Give Garrett the "interim" tag to do your due diligence and give him the rest of the season as an on the job interview.
  3. Evaluate at the end of the season. If Garrett turned this boat around and got us deep into the playoffs then perhaps there's something there. If not, Hire Gruden, Shanny, or Cowher post haste. (and accept a diminished role in the spotlight as an owner for the good of the team so the coach can coach)
