I'd love Parcells as a head coach and Wade as DC...

as long as there is a creative offensive mind calling the plays

It's hard to argue against Parcell's early success, but I'd be hard pressed to take him over Phillips after seeing what happened to our defense's performance late in the last few seasons. Phillips succes at the DC position isn't something to scoff at either. So yeah, I'm not going to answer. :D

If we are talking strictly DC I take Wade. We all witnessed BP's defenses fade down the stretch. We've seen enough. I take Wade for DC.

HC is a tough one to call. A previous poster said that he would like BP as HC and WP as DC. It would be a total waste of WP's talents. BP would dictate what type of calls fit into his philosophy and Wade would be running a shell of the defense that he's made successful.

I agree it is hard to argue BP's early success, but I too will go with WP with the personnel we have on Dfense. But for entertainment with the media, BP wins hands down.

this post says exactly what would be.... BP would make a good HC as long as he let his assistants do their job with little to no interference by Bill. That would never happen with Bill, and seeing how Bill let this defense fall apart with his passive 3-4 defense... I would have to say it would have to be Wade Phillips.

besides, do not forget, we do have a DC in James Stewart.

Wade phillips has been in the league a long time. His teams have never done anything, lose in the playoffs.

Now obviously I know that this entire board hates Parcells and thinks he is a spare like dave campo, well whatever. His teams have won and made the playoffs.

Oh and he was loved as a defensive coordinator. Teams and players went all out for him. Go look up his stay in Texas Tech, he was hated and then loved by all. And check his one year stop at air force where the school used the program he put in place for about 20 years.

anyway, I will get flamed for this but I would pick parcells over phillips for any coaching position on my team every day of the week, he has always created a winning aura, and helped unite teams together.

It didnt work out in Dallas, what are u going to do no one is perfect. It has never worked out for wade phillips. I really hope that changes, but all this love he is getting has made me very nervous. He doesnt have a secret potion. He has lost with a lot of great players on his team.

k go ahead and tell me I am stupid or whatever but like I said parcells everyday of the week over phillips.

aint if funny how Parcells conservative offense with "statue" bledsoe and "slow as molasses" Keyshawn and an average line had no problem beating wade phillips incredible 8th wonder of the world defense on the road, no less? And he owned him when bill was with the jets and wade the bills, I remember attending one of those. Dedric ward 99 yards on third and 10 from their own 1. Phillips defense, aggressive, but gave up big plays like that one to lose a game at home in december in which the bills lost the division, to parcells and his horrible coaching.

edit: Found an article on that game. I remember driving 3 hours in the snow with my friends to the game. I swear I remember that pass to ward as 98 or 99 yards, I guess they were at the 19 when they made that play, either way the defense gave up a huge play late in the game to lose the game and division title, then the bills lost to miami on the road in the wild card round.

they will both be great I like them better than barry switzer but I would probally take Wade. Parcells was a great coach of all he has done and he got a 5-11 horriblle team to 10-6 good playoff team but his luck started to wear of and the team started to not like him(JJ).

by the way good question

There really shouldn't be any question at all. We know Parcells' version of the 3-4 doesn't work in the NFL.

sounds good. You need to convince your dad to go on a trip to san antonio so the three of us can catch some camp time!

I think Parcells offered a lot as a HC. But as a DC. Clearly Wade has the better more recent history. This became evident after former pupil Sean Payton whooped Bill's behind. Not just a simple beating. It was a whooping to remember!!

Parcells was a shell of his former self - getting a lead and then playing not to lose.

I could waste time, coming up with a long winded response....

Or I can just say, "look at theebs post."

Makes it easier for me. I'm lazy.

It depends. Can I have the Parcells of the 80's Giants teams, or am I stuck with the guy of the last 4 years? Nothing about his last 4 years impresses me. On the other hand I have been impressed by the Chargers defense the last 2 years. Am I completely satisfied by what the Chargers did? No I'm not. Just being honest.

Truth be told I probably respect Jim Johnson of Philly more than any other DC in the game right now and would prefer him to either of them.
