I'll go ahead and say it: Winston > Mariota

Winston> Mariota

I've been pretty accurate on qb 's. I never liked ej manuel, geno smith, Jake locker, ponder, RG3, even cam newton. Never understood why these guys were taken so high. In fairness the only qb that has justified his draft pick in recent years is Andrew luck. The qb I wanted last year was Mettenberger. Big arm, measurables, and came from a pro style offense in the SEC. He looks pretty good this year as a starter. I liked bortles and Bridgewater as 1st rounders. Wasn't sure on Carr but he looks good for a rook. I don't think mariota will be a bust like the guys I listed above.

Winston is the better prospect inside the pocket. He can read defenses and makes accurate throws from the pocket better than mariota. He also plays in a pro offense while mariota does not. I believe Marcus will be decent. But Winston is better. People say Winston is dumb. You guys don't know what you're talking about. He was accepted into stanford. His maturity will come with age. He's got the tools and is ahead of mariota in his development.

Mcshay thinks if not for Winston's off field stuff, he would be the first pick in the draft.

Mariota is a real quiet guy. I like quarterbacks that are outspoken leaders. I think Winston can become a guy like that. His teammates naturally listen to him. See his speech last year prior to Clemson game.

I agree, I think Winston is the better QB. but neither will fall to us, infact i dont think either makes it out of the top ten.

i am not considering his off the field stuff but his winding throwing motion concerns me,it feels like he is tipping his passes.

You'd be crazy not to have questions about a QB who threw to a wide open 1st read like 75% of the time in college. From pretty much all accounts he seems to be a pretty smart kid and a hard worker so he may be able to make a smooth transition to an NFL offense, but I would definitely have a hard time taking him in the top 5. Same with Winston too. Gotta love the arm, but not sure what's upstairs.

I honestly really like Hundley's value if he does indeed go in the late 1st/2nd. I don't think any of them will be good year 1, so if you're going to gamble on a talented project might as well do it later. Hundley's skill set really isn't that far from Winston and Mariota either.

Boy, I have some serious doubts about each guy. I know Mariota walks on water lately, but I see a much better athlete than a QB when I've watched him. In the right situation, he stands a chance at being groomed, but I think there are very few places where that can happen. Winston has potential, but if he can't grow up and commit himself to being the best pro he can be, he's going to be another bust in a long line of busts.

I've heard many talking heads say that Mariotta will struggle in the NFL. He makes his plays off of running. Just like RG3 did in college. You can't do that in the NFL.

He basically just throws it up, and his talented WR's do the dirty work.

His physical build is slim. Won't be able to take a pounding at this level.

These are not my point, just one's i've heard. But I do agree.

Both have high upsides, both have major question marks.

When it comes to drafting these guys, do you want the one with question marks on the field or off it.

Here's that stat line that flies directly in the fact of the OP about how great Winston is at reading defenses:
Winston = 17x Ints. SEVENTEEN. Many games FSU miraculously won DESPITE Winston's numerous INTs. And having watched a lot of his games, his INT #s should be quite higher were it not for defensive bungling. Those windows for fitting the ball in are drastically smaller in the NFL…how many INTs is Winston going to throw in the NFL if he throws 17 against what isn't even top tier NCAA defensive talent (based on FSU's schedule this year)? Would Winston REALLY throw LESS INTs in the NFL against better talent than he did at FSU? Just doesn't seem likely. Wonder if that's ever happened for any QB, ever.

I'm not 100% that Mariota is going to an NFL superstar but here's his stat lines:2013: 31x TDs, 4x INTs
2014: 38x TDs, 2x INTs
Those are ridiculous stats. Add in the fact that Mariota is 6'4" and has 4.4 speed….he has a lot of positives going for him. So to look at those stats (INTs) and say Winston is the better reader of defenses, when Mariota throws in the ball park of 2x as many TDs and about 1/8th of the INTs, seems silly to me. In fact, my greatest fear is Philly trading up to grab him since Chip will run the offense Mariota could kill with.

I would not draft any QB in the first rd this year, the risk is off the charts and i pity the teams which need a QB desperately.this may be one of the worst QB draft classes in a while.

If they can't be Cowboys then I'd be happy if Mariota, Winston, Hundley, and Petty are not in the NFC East. I do not want to see any of those Qbs twice a year.

I'm not sure why you included Cam with any of those guys. You then compound the mistake by saying Cam is a bust? That's embarrassing.

Having said all that...I itoo think Jameis is the better pro prospect.

I disagree. I think they play alot alike and there is nothing intelligent about winston. Just has alot of great players around him.

Do you watch football?

VY ran for 3127 yards in his college career. Jameis has 301 yards rushing in his.

They play nothing alike. I can only assume you think they play "alot alike" because they're both black. Which is just....wow.

And everyone who has interacted with him in a football capacity says he has incredible football intelligence.

You're literally making things up.

No tour the only one.

BY was dumb off the field and couldn't throw the ball. Winston. Can't throw either. Look at his passer rating. Look at his completion percentage. The guy wins because the team he is on.

That and the off field issues is why I said he is another VY. Winston is an idiot and um glad he will not be a cowboy

24 tds with 17 ints. That's not good football

How again do they play alike? Please answer the question. You can think he will bust. But saying he plays like VY literally disqualifies your opinion as worthwhile.

I just did l. I said the way he throws the ball. When he plays good teams he is terrible. Look at the florida game. 50% completion. Throws almost as many picks as TD. I'm comparing him to VY in the pros not at texas.
Also his off the field stupidity is another way hhe is like VY.

You obviously like him and have a mman crush on the guy. I don't like him as a player or a person
