I'll go ahead and say it: Winston > Mariota

Neither is worthy of a first round pick imo. But I like Mariota better.

Well, I'm perceived biased, so no one will take this post seriously. But I'll give it a shot anyway.

Winston is the best QB prospect to come out since Luck. And it's not that close IMO. He reads defenses well, he anticipates WRs breaking open and he THROWS them open. He fits the ball into tight windows and he's lethal with a large WR because his ball placement, but FSU lacked that type of WR this year.

Jimbo says he gets texts from Winston, often late while Winston is studying film. He pulls young WRs aside for extra work in summer drills and leads off season workouts. He's also an ACC academic all American.

FSU has one experienced WR this year and a SR TE. The majority of Winston's picks resulted rom the young WRs running the wrong route.

He's immature, but he will grow up.

That isn't a stretch. There aren't that many good QBs that have come out in the two seasons since Luck was drafted.

Maybe he will grow up, maybe he won't. It is possible he does mature, but not quickly enough to help the team that drafts him. He could be one of those guys that matures after he gets cut from a team and then lands on a new squad.

I am going to go ahead and say it: I'm glad I'm not picking top 5 in this daddy needing a QB

Complete crap shoot IMO

Both could turn out to be stars or both could flame out in 3 years for different reasons

Those of you saying these are two bad choices based on skill are off base.
If you have other reasons, that's a different story.

The guy who said that Winston is the best since Luck (so three drafts) could easily be right.
I think Mariota is better than some of the scouts think as well. I'm sure a couple fo teams will fall in love with him, so he's probably going very early.

No tour the only one.

BY was dumb off the field and couldn't throw the ball. Winston. Can't throw either. Look at his passer rating. Look at his completion percentage. The guy wins because the team he is on.

That and the off field issues is why I said he is another VY. Winston is an idiot and um glad he will not be a cowboy

24 tds with 17 ints. That's not good football

Winston isn't anything like VY.
That's a terrible analogy.

Did somone really compare Winston to Vince Young? Look, we've all got different opinions, I get that. But Winston isn't nearly the runner VY was. Not even close. JW is a pocket passer with the ability to scramble and move around the pocket when needed. His game resembles Big Ben. In all seriousness, Vince Young is about the worst analogy one could use.

Guess we'll all see. I live in Tampa and the Bucs have the first pick. I fully expect them to draft Winston unless their private investators tell them to run for the hills.

Nope they are alot alike.

VY had everything given to him. Didn't work for anything. Protected and could do no wrong on campus. Was dumb on the field and turned the ball over. Niether had an nfl arm.

Sorry but they are alot more alike then you think. Winston will fold in the nfl.

Not talking about they way they played in the game in college. Talking about personality and they way they are both taken care of. I just see them acting the same. Winston. Reminds me alot of VY final years in The NFL.

Look at VY last 2 years in the nfl and Winston play. VY stopped running. Made bad decisions and bad passes.

Well, if you are assuming he's guilty of rape and everyone covered up sexual assault in Tallahassee, then that's your point of view. If you think a one game suspension in FSU's most important game of the year (Clemson) for screaming FHRITP in public was insufficient punishment, then that's your perspective. Fine. If you think stealing crab legs was anything other than a hook up gone bad then you are just plain naive.

I really don't know VY's background well enough to make a comparison, so I'll just stick with what I know of Winston. The kid works hard and is very advanced for his age at desecting defensive schemes. I've already covered some of the "bad decisions" on the field, but suffice it say the Noles had a very young WR corp that had to grow up fast playing with a VERY advanced QB this year. His anticipation is the reason Winston will be successful in the NFL.

As for arm strength, I don't know what game you are watching. You think he's entitled? fine. You think he makes bad decisions on the field? OK. We don't have to agree. But I have no idea how you deduct Winston lacks above average NFL arm strength. He throws hash to hash. Throws the deep out. Throws the deep seem. All on a line. Often in the face of pressure. Oh, and don't forget he can throw a fastball 90MPH+ on the diamond. Lack of arm strength? Nope.

Well you think yours and I will think mine. I just see alot of comparisons. I live in nashville and watched him play with the titans. Winston reminds me alot of the last 2 years of young. Also it's not just the rape or screaming. What about the shop lifting.
VY isn't a smart person. Scored a 6 on the wonderlic. Have you listen to Winston talk or the in game decisions he makes. Winston doesn't seem to bright to me. I want to see what he makes on the wonderlic.

But you think one way about the 2 and I will think the other way.

Fair enough. Winston is young and not a polished public speaker, not even close as a matter of fact. He'll need to work on that as the face of any franchise. But just FYI, he's an ACC Academic All American and carries a 3.4 GPA at FSU.

Winston has a good enough arm for the NFL. So did Vince Young despite his unorthodox throwing motion. Arm strength did not stop Young at the NFL level. It was his attitude, his lack of mental progress and his poor footwork.

I disagree, but that's fine.
I think you're on record saying Winston will bust.
So we can check back in and see who's right
It's all hot air right now.

I don't think either of them have what it takes to be a top 10 QB at any point in their careers. Not interested.

Bridgewater does not have good size. He has good height, but he has a slight build. His arm is average, but a QB can be successful with an average arm. I think he is a bright guy. I didn't like him in the first round, but he could have been a decent pick up after that round.

Brady was a toothpick coming out of college. Teddy will fill out. I think he'll be a very good QB in this league. We've seen the nothingness that entire draft classes have produces (2010, 2013). You can't expect reliable QBs every year. Some teams in desperate need of help are just unlucky when they're forced to rely on EJ Manuel to turn them around. That being said, I think after seeing this year's draft class, teams that drafted in this past year are going to be very happy that they did. I can see a large number of starting QBs a few years from now coming from this past draft: Bortles, Carr, Teddy, Mettenberger and more.

You guys are cracking me up. Winston is infinitely better than all the QBs from last years class.

The VY/Winston debate was good reading. The Winston camp mopped the floor with the Anti Winston camp.

Agree to disagree??? How about, "oh Ok I guess I was wrong, i didn't know he doesn't scramble and has a cannon for an arm! "
Don't double down on stupid.

Lol this was funny
