Cmon, at least be fair with your evaluation. We all know that Bill wasn't on his last leg when he started Bledsoe. Parcells knows that he can start rookies at other positions and it doesn't drag a team down like it does to play a rookie at QB. Even when you win with a rookie (or 2nd or 3rd year) player at QB it is a difficult task with lots of ups and downs.
I happen to think that Chris Simms is talented, but even in his 3rd year Gruden is playing it very close to the vest with Simms under center.
All this talk about what Henson can or can't do is what is silly. The guy WAS blue chip prospect out of high school, AND while he was in College. That isn't the opinion of a few fans with "man love" or whatever you call it, that was the opinion of pro football scouts. HOW IN THE WORLD DO YOU GET A 3RD ROUND PICK FOR A GUY OUT OF FOOTBALL FOR 4 YEARS IF HE WASN'T A BLUE CHIP PROSPECT?????
And don't say Jerry Jones because Jones wasn't alone in the bidding department.
Ron Wolf, for one, thought very highly of Henson.
We aren't dreaming this up. And I don't care what anyone on this board says, Drew Henson was never given the kind of chance that a lot of these young guys are given. Even right now I'm watching the lowly Brooks Bolinger playing for the Jets. He is no blue chip prospect, but even HE looks better the more he plays.
So we can have this discussion all day, but what it comes down to is a lot of you are into being competitive, and respectable. I want us to take the approach that we are going to build with our own guys and aim for long term success.
I still think Henson can play. I don't care if I'm in the minority on that or not.
Where I'll agree is this. The longer he sits the less chance there is that he will amount to anything because the age clock is ticking.
