How did you feel when the Cards beat the Cowboys 38 to 0? Where you still high on Landry or did you think that they would never win with him as a lot of people did?
Firing Coach Landry was one of our darkest days imo history. One year to say goodbye? Not a good look for the new regime. Winning is no substitute for class. Total summertime move........ No Class

Don't like the specifics of how it was handled (typical classless Jerry)...

But Landry had 3 consecutive losing seasons, and 1988 was butt ugly. Team hadn't gone deep into the playoffs in a long time.

In the late 80's I helped plan and promote a public event to honor Tom. Great guy. But it just wasn't working on the field at the end for him.

First of all, let's not pretend there won't be those fans among us who whine about "28 years, 28 years. "

Dak dis, Dak dat.

Take one look at this roster, and the pieces we have in place.

I say ***** dat! I'm all-in on this team.

Not to sound like all the Californians moving in to Texas, but if the question is talent? Let's start anywhere on the roster.

Tight Ends

I'll go with tight end, since that seems to be the biggest question mark. NFL teams will test our TE, so they will have to respond. I just happen to think we have a versatile group who can all contribute when on the field. None really separate from each other right now.

I'm actually more surprised by Ferguson than I am by Hendershot. I do see Schoonmaker has a step or two on speed, which can be a huge difference. But I think all of these guys are savvy. That's really what you want, a savvy TE who can do it all. Then, it can make it very difficult when they're all three on the field. With that said, I want to see more 13 sets with this group.

I actually expect to see more TE sets on the field, because that's a way to help players like Deuce Vaughn, for instance

Let me ask you this. Is Hendershot's job up for grabs? What about Ferguson? Is he a sure bet to make the team? Does the staff feel differently about these two than the fans? Why free agents make you give them a roster spot, and who gets the axe to replace them?

I'm not saying it will happen. I'm saying stranger things have happened.

Running Back

Some will say we have question marks at running back. I say you have question mark at scheme. We have all the players at running back we need. I understand there could be an injury to Pollard. But I expect the Cowboys to do their due diligence evaluating and then re-evaluate the running back surplus in the free-agent market, so it's no biggie. I'll keep it short there. Fans know who those running backs are. I like what we have. I'd say I'm a tad down on Malik Davis, but I'm also not sure if he's just being the whipping boy.6

Offensive Line

I suspect some people are under estimating what the Cowboys want to do with Edoga.

I would list every position on the 53. But there's one guy who I think doesn't get enough credit. And that is the Red Rocket, Super Cooper Rush. He truly can't be denied. That's what I'm saying about this team, though. You can talk all that nonsense about Dak and whether he could do it.

You could be a fan and talk all that nonsense about how Dak "can never get someone to the NFC Championship game." That's sheer nonsense. Of course, he could. It's about your 53. Look how much the roster elevated Jalen Hurts last year.

That's why I'm all-in on the Cowboys, this year. We're so loaded, not everyone is going to make the roster. Every team has talent, but if you didn't notice a little from the guys everyone doubted last year, like Gholston towards the end, Kelvin Joseph with huge, heads-up plays, and then all the other guys who look like they could take roster spots, but probably won't, because of the 53-man limit.

I want to see a more complete team, a team where a guy like David Durden, or some dark-horse guy makes the roster and just takes it to another level.

I want to see a Jalen Tolbert bust out 1,000 yards and make the Cowboys look brilliant. I want this preseason to be a battle, no matter how many roster spots are set in the proverbial stone.

I don't care if we start 1-2, this team just needs to get in the tournament. I think they will. From there, I think anything is possible, even if some of the worst case scenarios pan out Like, an injury to Lamb, I think would be the most costly. But that's why I say, it'd be nice if a guy like Tolbert was the next Andre Reed, if Cropper was the next Stephon Diggs, if David Durden was the next Miles Austin, or Ed McCaffrey.

I don't know. It's probably my imagination; I admit. I can't wait until camp. I can't wait to see who stands out the most in preseason, and what happens on the 90-man roster, but we've got enough places in piece where I haven't seen this compiled on one team in decades
.
No serious fan can deny. To spell it out, I'm not saying I'm all-in on they're definitely going to win, but if I were a gambling man, and wanted to make an presumptuous bet on the Cowboys, early on, I'd say all-in on this team, because we are teeming with the talent. More than I've seen in a long, long time.

All-in. I hope McCarthy sees the window.
Good on you. Let’s face it, at this point, before the season even starts, people sho are crapping on the team at every opportunity aren’t really fans.

Can we see failure before we predict the apocalypse?

Hell, can we wait to see if the team makes the playoffs before we throw dirt on their graves?

I just don’t understand why so many “fans” want to identify with failure before the season even starts.

Well, that’s one way to look at it.

If we had new ownership tomorrow, do you think anyone on the staff would be safe?

Would you be advocating for “one year to say goodbye”.

I kinda dougt it and rightfully so.

The Boys had six years of awfulness at the end of Landry/Tex.

All good things come to an end and, honestly, there wasn’t any good way to do it.

What if we are playing the 49ers in the playoffs, and the Oline plays good enough to win, and the defense plays good enough to win?

What does the season come down to at that point?
I think it comes down to are we able to run the ball and stay balanced.

I think it's important to be able to run the ball and keep Dak in his comfort zone where we are not continually asking him to pull the rabbit out of the hat.

I think using that draft pick on another tight end instead of a running back is going to come back and haunt us

I can’t wait to see this defense. If Smith can be who we think he is!!!! Along with Hankins…..if those two do what we think Micah , Dlaw, Williams and the others are gonna cause some major problems for offenses

When has any team been this stacked?
It’s a good point but we have to ask 2 questions

1. Have we TRULY overcome the talent level of the Niners and Eagles?
2. Is this the year that our QB TRULY plays like an MVP in the playoffs?

Hurts was the best quarterback in the NFC and Mahomes was the best in the AFC and they LED their respective teams to Super Bowls…….and that’s why we have to address the Qb question

I know that we over-debate the Qb position but it’s the most important position in all sports and it’s usually 100% tied to a teams success in the playoffs

I sincerely don’t know the answer to the 2 questions I posted…..but as usual, I’m all in too

Im hoping that Brandin cooks provides the necessary spark to the offense along with Tony to the offense. Im not worried about the loss of shultz at all i think his role can be filled by any of the TE on the roster. I do have issues or concerns when it comes to the OL and depth but well see what happens

those 2 teams are and were the most complete TEAMS that plays an huge role. I surely hope no one expects #4 to be like Mahomes but he can certainly play better than he did. It has been debated at nauseum why the picks took place. some were his fault some werent but in the end hes the QB and it falls on him.

Im hoping the subtraction og Moore and his stubborness helps out the offense even though with dak in the lineup they were a #1 offense. I just think at times he got cute and situationally wasnt always on point. a perfect example is that 1st pick dak threw in san fran game was 2nd and 2 i believe at that didnt call for that play.

well I appreciate your enthusiasm and positivity we don't get that a lot here and I'm also all in every year I mean I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan right 0-0 or going into training camp back-to-back 12 win seasons, made some good moves in the offseason... so yeah we're right there it's how you finish though can we be healthy can we have our full complement of superstars going into the playoffs playing their best football,

that's what I'm hoping, the regular season I'm pretty sure we got that covered, at minimum we're going to get in at a wild card, at maximum we're going to beat the wheels off Philly this year and win the division get first round bye and host 9ers and beat them to finally get to a NFCCG :))...shooo monkey shoo

But again, it's how we get into the playoffs I mean lately we haven't had the offensive line the run game things have not clicking when we make the playoffs mainly due to injury shuffling and yes you mentioned it the scheme and the play calling which things were adjusted this offseason so now we get to sit back and see if it works...

Depends on the game. Probably would come down to a few plays here or there. Coaching, run game, big plays, penalties, pick, fumble, missed kick, clutch kick. Plenty of things.

I know you want to lay all the blame on the QB always, but it rarely works like that.

Why cant the Defense win the game? Why can the Oline and run game win the game like they did for the Eagles against the Niners? Special teams? Coaching?

So in no scenario, should winning the game come down to the $45 million franchise QB who touches the ball every play?

You are saying that the franchise player should not be asked to step up and carry the team? Somebody else should always be the ones to do that and make the game changing play?

Rarely does it ever come down to one player winning or losing a game all by himself. That is correct.

Often you can blame the defense, or the offense, or coaching as a whole.

But you can definitely decide whether a player has played great or poorly in a game. Thats an easy one.

Now if a player continues to play poorly in lots of different situations or clutch situations then you can say that he simply doesnt have it.

Dak overall has played well in the playoffs. The last two times against the #1 D in the NFL he has struggled as the rest of the offense has struggled. Not a big deal playing poorly against the #1 D. Thats why they are number 1.
