We blocked and ran just fine even with Witten off the field a lot last season.

The blocking talk is overrated. This offensive line is so good that as long as he can put his hands on someone for a few seconds, Zeke or whoever can get loose in the secondary.
General talk that ignores the subtleties.

After Swaim went out and we had Escobar in there, the run game was not quite as strong.

The OL is very good, but it is not a road grading unit that just makes defenses cower.

You can say this OL is not perfect all the time and not insult them.

The key is which TE that McFadden can run behind. That is more of a concern for me.

He is the one who has problems reading blocks and having proper field vision.

Good point. But Bennette didn't factor in much because of Witten and the coaches not finding ways to use Benette. However, the Cowboys front office knows that Witten won't be here forever. Who knows, this might be his last season. If thats the case who will be his replacement?

I think that weighs in a lot with the coaches and they will eventually want someone that can fill in for Witten's shoes when he's gone.

If we are going to blame Witt and the coaches we also have to blame Bennett. Besides blocking he had some drive killing drops. If dude would have concentrated on football instead of social media early on maybe the coaches and other players would have taken him more seriously.

Oh wait a minute. I'm not blaming Witten or anyone. All Im saying is that the coaches were comfortable with Witten and knows already knows the offense.

Eventually they are going to have to replace Witten. They can't keep using him forever. I've stated nothing about blaming Witten. So hold your horses there.

Or maybe if he did not have Garrett's annoying brother huff puffing in his ear, he might have been able to make it.

I am sorry, John Garrett takes the worst of his father and his brother and combines into one annoying mess that only a small percentage of the population can relate to.

If you think what he was demonstrating here was an example of good coaching that any player could relate to, then I believe you are a pod person.

I don't agree... like Gathers he's also 6'6" and he's got good speed and we busted him several times right up the seam and he made good plays. He did benefit from some good throws but you have to pull them down.
Now LAST year against the Browns he might have caught the easiest TD pass in the history of the NFL.
I think Hanna and Swaim could've caught those same footballs. I actually didn't think Escobar was that bad....I thought he was a product of not getting enough touches due to him having so many people in front of him....and I think in this offense most will suffer the same fate. I think Dez and Witten are the only ones who will get consistent catches and touches.

I'm a huge Witten guy.....but I think he's been a progression stopper for tight ends here. I don't blame him for that....I blame the coaches and this offense.

Yes I agree. I don't think Witten is to blame either. Its the coaches. This time around they don't have reason to not use Rico who I feel can replace Witten in the very near future.

Maybe it is his posture, but he just does not appear to be the tallest and longest player out there. I am sure he probably is, but it just does not look that way.

Most of the time his not snagging passes with long length and wingspan. He seems to be just boxing out and rebounding.

I agree. I think this offense is going to be so much more dynamic with a faster tight end out there.

I see that too. I've heard 6'7 290.....he doesn't look or play like it at all.

I could give two squats if Rico can block right now. Put this dude in the slot and let's freaking roll!!! Who the hell can cover him?? Marcus Peters is the only player, outside of Peterson IMO.

The translation for "Calling it Early" is "Look at Me", especially when it's done as it's own thread.

Any type of guarantee on a message board is silly because there's no downside.

It's like when they allowed people to bet real money on the online poker sites. The method that people would play when it was free was completely different than when there was real money on it. When it was free, people would constantly go all-in. When you moved to the games that were for real money, that nonsense ceased.

I think Rico looks to have terrific upside, but creating a tread just to make some guarantee is just comical to me, especially when there is NO details in the thread about what he does well.
Especially when mickey spagnola already went out on a limb and called rico "Kellen Winslow" two months ago lol, was all over twitter so this chest beater is a day late, a dollar short and repeating what others have already stated. Bravo!

I think he'll be what we hoped we had in Bennett. The relationship that he and Witten have is what is key. Rico isn't a AAA prick like Bennett so it has a chance to work out.

Bennett was mental, no doubt. But he was a very good blocker and had more pure speed than Rico.

Rico has amazing balance. That guy can stay on his feet like a cat. Then you combine that with his strength... I'd hate to be in a situation trying to bring him down.

Rico's biggest challenge now is with the mental part of the game...and in keeping his composure.

He really is impressing me. I consider Kellen Winslow Sr. who is in the HOF the best TE I have ever seen. Gathers has that type of ability. Gathers can be great if used right
What happened to KW junior?

By the way Rico's two TD catches are the two deepest throws I can recall thrown to a Cowboys TE in almost a decade. I don't recall us ever throwing a pass over 20 yards to any tightend ever. Certainly not to Witten.

Just a thought.
