I'm convinced that Coach Prime is the best, last and only move for Head Coach under Jerry

< ~considers starting a new calendar for members believing Jerry Jones will hire anyone with ten times the personality he possesses~

Anyway, Deion Sanders is most likely using the attention to browbeat Colorado into a more lucrative contract extension, with Jones' blessing.

I would have LMAO @ this idea not too long ago but the more I watch and read, the more I’m convinced this is the ONLY last move for Jethro.
  • Jerry is in awe of Deion like he was with Parcells.
  • All of Deion’s colleagues report that he is the Alpha in all operations he runs. This may be the last man that can control the ship Jerry built. AND he can out hype the hype master. He would know how to give Jerry what he wants and still be looked at by the players as the final authority.
  • He’s a former player. A lot of new HC from Detroit to Houston who prove the value of Ex-Player Head Coaches who can relate better with the players.
  • For those saying he doesn’t watch enough film or X and O, NFL HCs are more the CEO than a coach in the NFL these days. Something that McCarthy was not good at. Jimmy knew how to push the buttons and so does Deion.
  • Zimmer is Deion’s boy and would come back and be loyal to Deion. He worked with Prime at Jackson State and Colorado, and has a close relationship going back to Deion’s playing days. No more Garrett forced on Wade, or Kellen Moore forced on McCarthy. Deion would actually want Zimm as his DC.
  • Deion is no nonsense despite what you might think from his commercial days. Anyone who watched him at Colorado knows he is a hard*** who will bring a tight grip and not be afraid to call out players who aren’t cutting it. His first day at Colorado he told half his players they wouldn’t cut it.
  • Who knows, we may very well get some shenanigans with the draft and Hunter and Shadeur not playing for anyone but their lifelong Coach.
  • Stephen can’t recruit in free agency worth a darn. With Deion we now have someone who can convince players to sign AND convince Jethro to spend the cash in free agency.
  • Deion is ready. NFL player for several franchises. HS to small college to big time college. This is not like Witten or some of the crazy out there choices. Deion has proven at every level he can turn ships around.
  • Go watch last year’s Sounds From the Sidelines when Deion and Shadeur met with Jerry in the pre-game. There is a tight bond there. They even muted the camera while they talked. These guys were already talking business. They have a bond that no coach has had with Jerry since his former college roommate Jimmy was here.
  • Deion is fresh off the college circuit and has a team of scouts and analysts who are probably more knowledgeable of recent college players than our current crew.
  • Deion has proven he can handle the spotlight that the Dallas HC position receives. He will pushback and manipulate the media just like Parcells and Jimmy did.
It could crash and burn, but I don’t really see any other option at this point until Jethro croaks. The franchise is what it is and needs someone who can outshine, outhype and out-alpha Jethro. Coach Prime is your man.

I dont think Deion is a good coach, he has good players who want to play for him because of his past. Its no different than Witten winning state highschool championships because parents send their kids to play for him and they get the best of the bunch. Doesnt make him a good coach.

The problem Jerry is going to have with hiring coach prime is Jerry is going to have to pay big money for his coordinators and assistant coaches on top of the money he will spend on Deion to get him here. It will get the Cowboys much attention, more fans, and plenty of prime time games so it will be worth it. I just don’t see Jerry giving up the spotlight for too long.

Jerry was never 'in awe' of Parcells. He went on record in a drunken rant that provided the real reason why he hired Parcells. He wanted to get the fans off his nuts because he needed fan support to get Jerry world built.

Do you really think Jerry is going to relinquish any control to Deion? Not a chance in hell. Hiring Deion accomplishes one thing and one thing only - it keeps the circus rolling. Jerry thrives on media attention, and a stupid hire like Deion will certainly keep that ball rolling as well. Deion's rah rah BS isn't going to work in the NFL any more than it did for Chip Kelly or Urban Meyer.
Respected. Looked up to. Liked being seen with so he could be the ‘football guy.’ Whatever you want to call it, there was definitely a different dynamic than his other walk overs. Same would happen with Deion.

I agree about the celebs, but does it matter if you are winning? I mean this is one of Jimmy's issues with Jerry but he was winning. Deion is a national icon in the same mode as Ali, Michel Jordan, Tiger Woods, the Lakers, the Celtics and the Cowboys. In other words, it's rare you will meet someone who has never of Deion or the Cowboys. Now imagine two mega icons teaming up to try and win a Super Bowl. We thought the Cowboys were popular.........try X10 if Deion is the head coach.
I guess everyone has already forgotten the celebs Jerry would bring down when Jimmy ran it. The difference is it pissed off Jimmy while Deion would welcome it. Telling you, these two are a match made in heaven.

Stopped at #1. Jerry was not in awe of Parcells. All of YOU were in awe of Parcells and that's what Jerry was counting on to get his stadium built. Once again, Jerry fools all of you...
Another reason to hire Deion. Fanbase has given up. People are ready for anything different. No new stadium needed this time. But needs something to make the Cowboys relevant again. He hires Kellen or another puppet, team continues to dwindle.

I can only hope, sure I could speculate but I have no inside track or wealth of knowledge when it comes to who the next Cowboys head coach should be. I'll tell your one thing though, I'm desperate. I'm trying to get @RustyBourneHorse to replace rowdy, no stone unturned ;)

If Jerry hires Deion to be the HC, I can only imagine we trade up to draft Shedeur (and what that would cost). We would have an immediate QB controversy with a $60 million QB we cannot trade or waive because of his bloated contract.

Maybe Shedeur sits for a year behind Dak, but I have to believe it would divide the team. Maybe I am wrong.

Then their would be the battle of egos between Deion and Jerry. If the Cowboys win and Deion gets the credit for turning the team around, Jerry will throw a tantrum and the circus would start.

To me, there are just too many risks with Deion coming in as head coach.

I think it is going to be Kellen Moore anyway. He is the weak personality Jerry can control.
After nearly 3 decades of mediocrity, maybe it's time for a big risk. Go big or go home.

All Deion does is add to the circus atmosphere. We need a real football coach that instills fundamentals. We need someone from a real coaching tree. I don't want someone from Jason Garrett's coaching tree and I don't want someone who has not put in his time coaching and just relies on flash and buzzwords.

I agree but there is a catch.

I think Deion would know how to handle Jerry, because he doesn't give a ****. if he is not coaching here tomorrow, he would get a college job in a snap and he can go back to the booth in a heart beat.
Deion also has a big personality, which stands up to Jerry and he tends to speak without filters and openly and he is honest.
he also gets the players respect, because he is direct and honest with them and they respect that.

however, he would be jumping from college to NFL. its a different game. he is smart. he will figure it out, but there is a learning curve. that's how NFL is. there is lots of smart, big personalities in NFL, just like Deion so he is not going to awe anybody else. there is lots of smart good coaches. and there is always always always a learning curve. I think his will be much shorter, so we need to be ready to have a down year or two, until he kind of rebuilds the team in his vision. that would mean, it would be end of Dak's contract before this team is competitive. and then this Dak contract is moot. we know jerry doesn't like to let a player go, and keeps them to the end of contract, so here comes the rub, which is keeping dak to the end of his contract and what that would mean to Deion, who really wants his son here.....which also means for us to trade up a bunch and move up to get him in the top 5.

all this would mean, Deion is a long term process/solution.

As much as I hate to say it, with Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn apparently either not interested or not an option from Dumb and Dumers' point of view I might have to agree.

I like him better than some retread that Jerry would be "comfortable" with.
IE : Zimmer...

The same people that want Deion in Dallas are the same people that would be dogging the Eagles, Giants, or Commanders for having interest in Deion.

You only like it because the Cowboys are doing it and you feel like you are required to support anything and everything the Cowboys do or you’re not a real fan.
That is not true, almost all the posters liking this idea have made post talking about how laughable the other candidates are, like KM or Witten.

Calling KM and Witten the next Garrett 2.0 does not sound like blanket support, in fact it’s quite the opposite.

What young hot HC candidate would want to come to this clown show ?
Seriously !
What would be their chances of success with such poor GM'ing behind him ?
Not to mention the entitled culture issue.

Watch those posters when/if Witten or Moore gets the job.

They’ll fall in line accordingly.

Exactly…..fans are starting to not care anymore.

Even me, this season is the first time in over a decade or so that I did not watch every game. I’m sure I am not the only one.

Even training camp looked like a ghost town and attendance at ATT was lower than previous years.

Jerry needs to do something to change this don’t care no more attitude among the fan base and freaking Opie ain’t it, Deion is.

I think it would be more accurate to say that Parcells was one of only two head coaches in the Jones era that could neither be intimidated nor steamrolled by Jerry. Deion would be the third.

Jerry learned long ago that the way to most lucratively capitalize upon NFL ownership is not necessarily to win championships - it's to sell tickets, merchandise, and hype. Among the names of credible HC candidates being bandied about & speculated upon, Deion's stands alone as a figure dynamic enough to advance that goal singlehandedly.
