I'm guessing Tony is not going on IR

When you think about this logically, it becomes even more idiotic.

Lets say we somehow manage to win 5 consecutive games with Cassel (I can barely type this without laughing hysterically:laugh:) but just for the sake of argument he does. Garrett would then sit Cassel who is riding high and has the hot hand for a QB coming off back to back clavicle breaks and has played only 2 complete games all season, only 1 complete game in the last 12 weeks?

That is who we are putting in the lineup for our playoff game?

I knew Garrett wasn't the brightest bulb in the package, but dam..........this takes it to a whole new level:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

Me and my wife were just talking about this. If this happened, and I was Matt cassel I would be mad as hell. Like seriously I get y'all 5 straight wins and get us to the playoffs and you bench me for our rusty qb? Not to mention they are disregarding Tony's health. A ring is not worth breaking this man in half. I would rather they just play the playoffs with cassel and let Romo rest and try again next year.

No, Matt Cassel is a lifetime backup. He'd be really happy as he would likely have earned himself a nice contact for the next few seasons (likely here in Dallas). He's been down this road before and would love to ride it for another decent contract.

I think this may have more to do with the IR rules than the possibility of him playing in the playoffs. If he goes on IR doesn't he have to stay away from all team activities? Isn't the only thing he can do is workout and meet with the trainers? They probably want Romo around acting as another coach and being involved on a daily basis. I don't think he can do that if he goes no IR. I don't think he can travel with the team or go to meetings if on IR.

I think you might be on to something here. When you go to IR, there is very little that you are allowed to do.

You have not heard about the 21 point FG?

The 21-point field goal is where it hits one upright and then bounces to hit the other upright, then the other, doing a total of 7 bounces back and forth at three points each before it finally goes through. I thought all fans knew about this rule.

Hey, don't go and ruin everyone's fun with that kind of stuff!

I haven't seen anything that says Romo isn't going on IR. They probably won't make the move until Friday or something like that. They have to make room to sign Kellen Moore off the practice squad- Matt Cassel is the only healthy QB on the active 53 man roster.

Plus, I've seen Orlando Scandrick in street clothes on the Cowboys sideline this year. I think players on IR can stay around the team.

Have they officially said this?

All I have seen today is both Keith Smith and Trey Williams being taken to the woodshed for their misdeeds.

One of those guys is making room for Chaz Green. Smart move. Most reports say he's been practicing well. Even if he's inactive the extra weeks of practice will put some seasoning on him.

And the other for Kellen Moore probably.....so maybe they are keeping Romo active just for morale support.

No, it becomes idiotic when people start jumping to conclusions and judging the HC for things he never even said. But that's the norm around here.

How about this scenario: Somehow we win 5 straight and make the playoffs. Cassel gets injured in the playoff game. Who do you want playing in the 2nd half? Moore or a healthy Romo?

Very well put. The NFC East is so bad anything's possible. More than anything, I like the positive thinking. But Romo won't be ready even if the Cowboys make the playoffs. I read on Fox Sports he'll be re-evaluated in five weeks to determine if surgery is needed. The more times the same bone is broken, the longer it takes to heal. Romo's next time stepping onto a football field will be spring OTA's.

This might work out well.

Just think about it for a second.

Romo "could come back".

Beat the Commanders. Hope arises with four wins.

Giants lose, Eagles lose. More hope.

Before the Packers game. Alright, Matt. Just play it conservative like you have been told to do all along.

After loss: Okay, we are still in this. Stack some practices on top of another. Just keep it alive for Tony. {clap clap}

Rinse and repeat for the next couple of weeks.

There is a way to lose out. This might be it.

Scandrick is on the sideline for every game, Lee did the same next year. There is not a good reason to not put him on IR and use up his roster slot.

And not that different from Jimmy Johnson in '91.

We were 6-5. Troy goes out with an injury. Steve Beuerlein comes in and wins. We go undefeated thru remaining games to end the regular season. Made the playoffs for the first time in years. Beuerlein starts that first playoff game even though Aikman is ready. Mediocre but we win. Six straight wins now. Next playoff game, Jimmy still starts Beuerlein and he struggles. Jimmy switches to Aikman mid-game. Also struggles. We get run out of town by Detroit and forever question what would have happened had Jimmy gone back to Aikman when he was ready. It's a no-win decision (unless the team wins it all).

As much as I want this nightmare of a season to end, the rest of the NFC East just. will. not. let it happen.
