This was par for the course. Once again Romo has to save Garretts butt. Garrett basically has 3 major tasks as coach of this team:

1. Pat fannies and cheer lead. (Incredible job yesterday with this. One of his best days patting fannies and clapping)
2. Throw the red flag. (Garrett had already screwed this up big time half way through the first quarter)
3. Get the team motivated to play. (Talk about coming out flat and not in the mindset to play)

A horribly undermanned team came into Dallas yesterday and should have gotten blown out. Clearly Dallas wasnt ready to play. Of course it was Romo again saving the day for Garrett as he did many times since he took over as head coach.

I'm not sure this is a serious take, but generally speaking, if you really think the issue last night was the coaching and not the turnovers for easy scores on defense, I can't imagine what to tell you.

Not because I'd want to convince a person with such an ill-conceived interpretation that they were wrong, because that would be impossible. But because I don't know how I could possibly got such a response inside the posting guidelines.

Wins in the NFL are hard to come by - you never throw back a win.

They didn't play well, or really look inspired for most of the evening. But, when they had to make a play offensively, they did. And, as has been the case for the past three seasons, the Cowboys have been the mentally tougher team than the Giants. Eli made a rookie mistake at the goal line. Romo was smart enough on the last drive to not give the Giants time to circle the wagons by clocking the ball.

Romo was Cool Hand Luke last night when his team needed it the most.

True and for whatever reason some of the weirdest games Dallas tends to have are vs NY Giants. I don't make excuses for the Cowboys they did a lot of good things but seemed to shoot themselves in the foot constantly early on. I loved how this group of guys kept it together and got it done in the end.

It's never perfect. Lots of mistakes, But we got the job done. We sent them home with their tails between their legs. I'd be fired up and yelling my *** off if I were a coach. And I'd be working them hard in practice. We need to correct our mistakes.

The turnovers were the main factor in how the game went down, there is no denying that. However, the Cowboys looked like they were making things as difficult for themselves as possible. They had success moving the ball, because they are the much better team. They didn't move the ball with ease though. They had to scratch for most everything they did, and much of that was because of their strategy. They aimed to dink and dunk and take 3 downs to get a first it appeared. They weren't opening up the field, and it showed, and almost cost them.

You, my friend, are always a pleasure to read. We admit fault, and we admit the capability of our team to overcome diversity when the chips are down.

To me that is the great part of this game. 1st we won and 2nd enough ammo for the coaches to get after the players on a sloppy performance. 2 trips in the redzone and settled for FG and 3 turnovers. I will say Special teams which I was concerned about coming into this game did an excellent job especially Kyle Wilber who had a nasty looking hit on Harris on a return.

this is getting boring. There is no "we" Tony saved Garrett. Why is it when this team does something good, we abandon it, yet, when we could have used it, we save the no huddle to bail us out? Where was that drive on the first series? Why did we have to wait to do what we do well? If TOny abuses defenses with the no huddle, why are we not using it more? We have strenghts to this team and Garrett doesnt use them. We seem to be the only team to look at our strenghts and say "hey lets make this harder on us"

Escobar came to play and we dont use him enough. We didnt use Dez enough, YET we believe street was good enough to play a down. WHAT? Jones on OBJ? I think i read someone said he was lined up on him. The game was to important for this team to look that bad on offense, YET its on Tony to save Garrett, yet again. Its not We, there is no WE, Tony does that.

Come on Bro.. It's a team effort. You know that. Yes Tony saved us. But it's a team effort. Tony's nothing without the team and the team is nothing without Tony. Let's drop the negativism. We're 1 - 0. Nobody's saying we didn't shoot ourselves in the foot. But we got the job done. We hit it against all odds and that says something for this TEAM. The Giants have to be curling in the fetal position when they woke up this morning. I woke up this morning and smiled.

If not for the 17 points on the turnovers, this game was a blowout. Even before you take possible Cowboys points on those three drives into account.

This game was what minus three TO differential is not supposed to look like. Be happy with an extremely improbable win instead of trying to manufacture other reasons we nearly lost. The very good reasons we have now are sufficient explanation.

This was a one-in-one-hundred gift we got last night because our QB is exceptional. I'm gonna just enjoy it.

That first drive was the epitome of moving the ball with ease. IMO. Granted, they only finished with 3 points. But considering the first string unit really had little playing time together since last year. Pretty impressive opening drive. Except for the ball protection and a couple of dropped passes. The offense was pretty impressive all night. The huge mistakes was what nearly cost them. Not the game plan.
I know a lot of people are upset at this perceived dink and dunk offense. They tried some things I've not seen them do very often. The little wide receiver screens and short passes on the opening drive. Utilizing Dunbar like they did. Etc. Maybe we should also give the Giants DB's some credit for taking away some possible plays down field.

This was the first game of the year. They just put some plays out there that opponents now have to game plan for. Which will help to open plays down the field. The season is a marathon not a sprint. Can't wait to see what they're running when Dez gets back.

This win was big for the way they came back.
It was played largely without Dez involved. It showed all the rookies what this team is made of and to not ever give up. To me this is huge.
It showed the rest of the NFC East and the NFC that they can move the ball and find ways to get down field without Murray and Dez later in the game.

And this is from a rusty offense. Now it doesn't mean they can do it every week, as teams can now game plan not having Dez. but Linehan can now game plan too. Now here is where we see what he can do scheme wise, earn his money.

Defense will need to step up now even more and without Hardy, Ro, and now Gregory.
So who steps up. They can move J. Crawford to play outside some. Russell will most likely be active now. So hope he is up to the challenge. We know Marinelli will have them ready to play each week.

You're right. We have a lot of work to do. But when the chips were down, we found a way.. And THAT is something to build on. THAT, is what fires a team up to work harder, and harder. It wasn't pretty, but they got the job done. They're gonna look at tape, make adjustments, learn from mistakes and come out a better football team next week. There's a 1 in the Win column. Big game next week. Very interested in seeing how the Eagles perform tonight. Week 2 is gonna tell a lot about this football team. We have a long way to go.

First game so Im not going to get too excited one way or the other. In mind, this was a bad game. We won, but played bad, run game was nothing special, and we lost Dez and Gegory for 4-6 weeks. Thats pretty bad.

But this team looked eerily like the 8-8 teams. Mistake prone and relying on Romo to win all the games in the end.

We can see quite clearly why passing the ball is more mistake prone than simply handing it off to Demarco Murray. Tipped balls, passes thrown behind the receivers, ball knocked out for picks and rumbles. For my money, give me the power running powerhouse every time over the pass happy finesse team.

Romo saved Garretts butt? Romo saved his WR corps butt. And his own butt for the bad pass turned in to an interception. Implying the team wasn't ready or fired up for this game is just silly. They came out dominant. They had one of the longest opening drives in the teams history. They also were heading down near the end of the half looking to go up by 10. If not for dropped passes and horrible ball protection. This game is over in the third quarter. Part of the reason this team was able to come back and win this game is because of the attitude instilled by the coaching staff. An attitude of not panicking and continuing to do the job. No matter what the adversity. For that. I'm proud of the entire damn organization for last nights win.

That was about as pathetic a win as you could possibly hope for. Not to mention two of our most important players are out now for 4-6 weeks.

You can gloss over whatever you want and buy into Garretts fanny patting speaches, but any real coach would have been hammering the team for that effort.

The main problem was the turnovers. But this team came out flat and their heads were clearly not in the game. AS the turnovers indicated. It was a pathetic win and once again Romo saved the Cowboys from utter disgrace with another miraculous comeback.

And as a guy that was clearly unfazed that the Cowboys can simply rely on Romo and the passing game more without the run game being what it was last year, let yesterdays game be a lesson to you on how relying on the passing game can be a much more risky proposition. Going back to relying on Romo and throwing 50 times a game is a step in the WRONG direction.

Amen Brother. Coming from behind is what makes or breaks your season and the Cowboys rose to the occasion. They've got fight in them. Last season is still curdling in their gut and they found a way. 15 to go. Our coaching staff is stellar and will have them prepared for the Eagles.

This was a glorious victory that came at crunch time, when the Cowboys had to do a lot of things just right, with the clock ticking, to win the game and lock down at least a tie for first place in the NFC East.

We can correct mistakes we made in the game, but there is no way to undo a loss.

Couldn't have said it better myself. If you're not optimistic about this team, then what's the point!? No Debbie Downer in you my friend. We'll take it one week at a time. I'm gonna root for this team through thick and thin. I will never succumb to fraudulent fandom. Life is short. Root hard.
