I read it.......so coaches impact game results...I get it.
but somehow the Dak haters (not you perhaps), want Dak to over come coaching incompetence....

and I am not a Dak supporter. just calling out the double standard on some people...not you because you are not a dak hater
You are a Dak stan. You prove it with this ridiculous defense of Dak with bad coaching. Dak just got paid the highest contract ever. There's no more room for excuses. Dak was paid to be on the level of Mahomes. He's on the level of Cooper Rush instead. Any excuse is a stan's attempt to avoid the truth of the Dak situation.

These people are the biggest reason I'm happy Dak got signed and got the huge contract. It triggers them so bad that Dak is the QB and makes the money he does. I'm ecstatic that we get to watch them be mad about it for 4 more years! Maybe more..

So, you're happier with the Cowboys failing when Dak inevitably chokes because it pisses off other fans than you would be getting in a new QB that might actually not choke in the playoffs? That's what you're admitting to? (No, I certainly don't mean Rush. He's a good backup, but no way he gets us anywhere in the playoffs).

We have enough empirical evidence on Dak. He won't ever get it done. It's not remotely entirely his fault, but even when the Cowboys did have a shot, he helped blow it big time.

1. Cooper Rush is not good.
2. Cooper Rush is not better than Dak at anything except seeing the field.
3. Cooper Rush has a noodle arm.
4. In spite of 1-3 Cooper Rush performs about the same as Dak in the all important “wins” category.
5. Dak can’t process the field well.
6. In spite of being the highest paid player in the NFL Dak is no better than Rush in the “wins” category.
7. Dak sucks in relation to his cap hit.
8. Dak’s cap hit is pretty much going to hamstring/cripple the Cowboys salary cap for years.
9. We need to find a new, legitimate QB other than Dak or Rush.

All of the above can and most likely are all true at the same time.

And it's not a caveat.
Caveat has several different meanings. It can be a warning, it can be a law term, it can be an exception. In today's language, "caveat" is generally used as a certain condition, which is the way I used it. It replaces the phrase "here's the catch". I chose to use the last one, the general usage term.

What's up w/ locking onto one word instead of perusing the general message of the post?

Well done.

While it is definitely refreshing to have a QB who sees the whole field and spreads the ball around, Rush is strictly a backup. I actually don't care if we keep Rush or not, as he is not a legit starter.

No one cares about what Dak makes except as it pertains to the salary cap. Large contracts can really screw a team, especially if the player doesn't play commensurate w/ his salary.

I am shocked to see this post from you.

I'm admitting to laughing at morons who are triggered by Dak's mere existence .. I am admitting to finding it comical that people who couldn't hit the ocean with a football from a cruise ship question his accuracy even though the statistics show he is one of the most accurate passers in the league year in and year out. I am admitting to enjoying troll roasting the idiots who claim Rush is a more accurate passer despite a far lower completion percentage and a much lower accurate throw percentage despite throwing significantly shorter passes. I enjoy calling out people who claim that it's "not about the money" then turn around and blame the roster flaws on Dak's salary. Even though most of those same flaws existed when he was making his 4th round pick rookie deal salary. I enjoy exposing those people for who they are.

To be clear I am miserable when my team loses. Playoffs, regular season hell I don't even like watching them lose in preseason. I just take occasional solace in how mad Dak being the Cowboys QB makes some people. And how mad his salary makes them. I can be unhappy when he has bad games AND happy about other things. It's not either/or. People are obviously free to hate Dak or any other player for any reason they see fit.. and I am free to laugh at them and revel in their misery at not getting their way!!

Remember folks, RonaldT24 still thinks Zeke is an NFL starting caliber RB.

All well and good. I think we're trying too hard to fit the offense into (imo) daks limited skill set.

But my point about "dak protection" is when people break their backs bending over backwards to protect dak from any criticism, especially the money. As if he's the only poor soul to get the treatment. You read my examples I assume. Asking for that kinda bag, and getting it, without any real important accomplishments is of course controversial. It's obvious dak could not care any less...why should he?
Shouldn't we say dak's limited weapons.....beginning of the season.....1 WR, no running game, no OL pass protecting or run blocking. Where they do that at, for contenders? No contending team with an elite or decent QB that's been paid, has been left with the cupboard bare like Jerry has, but has fooled many about salary cap strapped.......not true.

As for the money......Market value dictates the money. If he didn't get it from Dallas, there were other teams that would have paid him. Maybe not 60, but high 50's ala more than Trevor Lawrence contract. It's business, based on demand. Can't understand why our board been crazy about this all year or expect players to just grant Dallas discounts.

I can show you posts by yours truly over the spring and summer this year and in 2020 where I stated unequivocally that I wished that Dak would get over whole needing to be the highest paid and set the precedent of taking less so we could build a better team. I said the same thing about CeeDee's deal, Zeke's deal, Tyron, Tank, Zack you name it. It has ALWAYS been my stance that this silly insistence on being the highest paid for 5 minutes is just plain stupid.. Always has been and always will be. I would much rather play on a great team for 40 million a year and live in the playoffs than on a bad team for 60. But that's me. Many here have posted that they wouldn't. To each his or her own. The only stars who have given the Cowboys a "hometown discount" have been Diggs and Tyron. The rest have grabbed every nickel they could.. and I have been disappointed by it every time. I wish more guys would realize that playing deep into the playoffs every year is much better for them long term than trying to break the bank .. but I don't have to feed their families, answer to their wives or pay any of their bills. So I don't spend much time thinking about it. Again I worry about the salary cap and what they do on the field. The rest is just a waste of time even in the context of wasting time.
RonnieT24......don't forget market value. No NFL player should pay for less than the market.....IMO, unless they've won enough to have been in SB or Championship games. What many miss.....did Dak make himself the highest paid or did Dallas do that? For 2024, Dak $60M, Burrows $55M, and Trevor Lawrence $55M in annual value. Dak is #8 in total contract value behind the likes of Herbert (who is lauded for potential).

At a minimum, Dak should be on par with Trevor Lawrence contract in annual value. We can argue about Joe Burrows contract, but not Trevor Lawrence money. Any reputable agent knew that. Dallas and the market value did that. Perhaps the extra $5M should be to endure the hate & vitriol from fanbase & media that always moves the goalposts when comparing Dak ("expected to win with less weapons") with the other comparable QBs. And I'd argue, no other QB has as bare a cupboard of weapons, across the board. Josh Allen, the current MVP candidate, until this year was a turnover machine in the playoffs, but get's "credit" for lost games against KC (no playoff fiascos like we've had). Josh Allen may be the next man up to break the bank, though he is under current contract.

Are you saying Dak doesn't have limitations?

I'd quite say both, if yer honest.

Funny how some people can't focus, and need others to caveat every single other issue besides DakFIRST, then maybe go to Dak. Maybe.

SteveTheCowboy......no I'm not saying anyone doesn't have limitations. How does that equate in my point, since limitations aren't exclusive to just one player.....I would say our QB is apparently expected to play Perfect & Flawless, or this board has a tendency to be borderline stroke victim while failing to view what is described on the field as a TEAM. Mahomes, the benchmark QB.....has played far below accustomed standards all year.

It will get tiresome at some point to keep looking under the rug for another angle to take. But c'mon, I'll be ready. For the sake of not going to the "Dak lover" take....let's say he is "John Doe". As I never had a problem questioning or acknowledging or commenting about Dak's on the field mistakes too, as I do with other players. I think just the mention of Dak causes all kind of trouble/hate and less logic to my point. Let's try that.

Using regular people as a barometer against NFL players doesn't make sense.
