I mean, he's a solid player, it's a need position for us, and he could probably start from Day 1 (assuming RW is cut).
That's exactly what the Draft is for.

(NFL.com combine results don't even show him as a top performer at CB or safety although this site reports 4.47 which *WOULD* show up at NFL.com if true) Second, not many safeties go in the first round unless they are very good. (that I think he could make it) The biggest issue I see is him making it all the way down to 51st. Of course, that doesn't mean the Cowboys can move up a few spots to grab him.

Doomsday101;2653122 said:If Chung in on the board at our pick I would be more than happy to take him.
BlueStar II;2653166 said:I agree, if Chung was still there when we pick, I would take him as well.
Woods;2653164 said:I'm actually o.k. with going with Safety, DL, LB (outside or inside) at 51.
I'd be stunned if we went QB, RB, TE, or WR at 51.
As for OL, I'd prefer not to take an OG at 51, unless a guy REALLY slipped who we thought was Round 1/very early Round 2 value. On the other hand, if a top OT slipped to us, we should pounce. I don't think Flo has too much left, and I'm not sure regarding Free.

"This kid is just a nasty SOB. Absolutely lights people up. Check the clip linked below; on an INT return he takes 2 Michigan offensive lineman off their feet as a blocker. Although he's a big hitter he's also a reliable tackler, which you don't often see. Versatile and has played CB in a pinch. Also, a return specialist. Has faced elite competition in the Pac 10 and has produced consistently. Chung looks to be a 2nd round pick, but Drew Boylhart, who I think is one of the best scouts who isn't working for an NFL team, states emphatically that Chung is a first round talent and even says he reminds him of Ronnie Lott."

So...sounds like you want to wang chung tonight. :
nyc;2653213 said:I think he is going to have coverage issues in the NFL. For a safety today, that is a no-no. I would rather look at a bigger CB or a different safety all together. I do like Chung playing in the box.
My biggest issue? We have Roy Williams, why draft a Roy Williams clone?
SLATEmosphere;2653169 said:Say NOOOOO to Mr.Chung. I'd take Delmas and Johnson before him.
What about the problems on the OL? Or the DL? It's not as though safety is the only weakness on this team.Alexander;2653045 said:What cheap safety? If we do that, we will be right back next year, complaining about the problem. Fix it. Save the band aids.
Chung would be good enough as I think his value would be right about where we pick. Delmas is as good as gone. Johnson as well. He's got nice speed, is underrated in coverage and is a very good special teams player.
Chris in SoCal;2653270 said:I read some good stuff about Chung so I made sure to tune in and watch an Oregon game this season to specifically watch him. This is, I promise, exactly what the announcer said at the beginning of the game...
"All-American candidate Patrick Chung is a force against the run. He does struggle in coverage though. He is very similar to Roy Williams of the Dallas Cowboys."
Scouting session over.
