I'm still optimistic

- OL looks great. Murray had running room all game and they kept Romo fairly clean.
- D looks like it might be "average" instead of "worst ever". Pass rush wasn't bad at all. McClain was very active and looks like a very nice pickup so far.

The only real negative from this game was Romo. He was horrible and easily the #1 reason we lost. No getting around that. But I don't expect him to just go into the tank and have a bad Eli-like year. This is a guy who's put up a 90+ QB rating every year of his career. I expect him to get it going next week, and I think it was good for his psyche to get that last garbage-time TD. He finally looked like himself on that drive.

Sucks to be 0-1. But if Romo Is our biggest worry moving forward, well... let's just say I trust him to right the ship more than I'd trust the D to right the ship if they were the ones who sucked today. Shake this one off and get ready for the Titans.

I would be pretty optimistic, even after an embarrassing loss. Except I don't see how we can not be concerned about Romo's play today until we see him back to his old self. He was really bad, and, while that happens pretty rarely with him, coming after the surgery it's something I think you have to be looking at pretty closely until he definitively proves otherwise.

The defense looked pretty good, though, all things considered. Relative to expectations. And the rest of the offense looked pretty tough. Good blocking, nice running lanes. Hated to see Demarco put that ball on the ground early, and that's a concern, but he played well after that.

I hope you are right Nav. It was just two years ago he led the NFL in interceptions.

I'm hoping this game can be chalked up to his lack of reps in training camp and preseason and by next week he looks like the Romo of last year.

Tony looked tentative at times but his problems appeared to be more mental than physical. That's why I'm not too worried. A few passes fluttered but that happens to him from time to time. Horrible decisions on all 3 INTs, although I'd have liked to see Dez fight for that last one to at least cause an incompletion.

Oh, another negative I forgot about... Dwayne Harris. Was that 3 balls he dropped today!?! We needed a boost from special teams and Harris didn't get it done today.

He was wildly inaccurate, along with making poor decisions. He was missing dump off passes by 5 yards at times.

The D Line wasn't as OMG bad as I thought they'd be but that secondary is just flat out terrible.

His problems did look to be more mental than physical. But then he did have a couple grimmaces in close up shots that i have to admit I didn't really like the looks of. It's also possible that physical discomfort is getting in the way of his decision making, because it can be pretty distracting to be hurting badly and playing through it.

I don't want to make a big deal about it, but I am watching him closely here the next few games if he's not playing a lot better.

More S miscues, yeah, and playing soft in zone coverage. I hate it. Carr was caught trailing the WR again on critical downs.

Looking forward to getting Scandrick back and seeing us play more press-man.

There's no zip on Romos balls. Coming off back surgery it's not like it can just reappear.

My vote as one who is a HUGE Romo fan is that we are about to enter the 99-2000 years of Aikman. Perhaps even worse.

I am somewhat optimistic. We lost the game by Murray's fumble and Romo's 3 INT's for sure. 21 points of turnovers. I do not expect this trend to continue. This was not a physical thing for Romo, all 3 were very bad decisions. Just too much to come back from against the 49ers. Game set match right there.
The other issue is are secondary can not play zone. That is a problem. PLAY MAN DAMN IT.

But here is what I am optimistic about. Outside the zone coverage this D played well. Not average but well. We looked just as physical on both the Dline and Oline as the 49ers if not looked better.
Our front 7 looked good, physical, aggressive, I loved it based on the expectations especially. We still have Spencer, Dlaw and Scandrick coming back. We still don't have guys like Edwards and Toomer ready to go.

The oline looked great in the running game. They were flat out opening holes and moving the whiners off the LOS. I am a HUGE believer that nothing lends to winning more than a dominant O-line.

There was things I really liked in this game for the season going forward. In the end we lost and we are 0-1.

The front 7 looked surprisingly good, especially McClain. But the defensive back field is brutal. Wilcox wouldn't be on anyone elses practice squad, Church is bottom 10 safety, and the corner backs couldn't cover me. For about the 7th year in a row, they have ignored the safety position. Scandrick will make a difference, but not much.

Claiborne is pathetically bad.....

I'm optimistic because the Cowboys can run the football with pretty good success and the front 7 did pretty well.

Romo just need to calm down and let his playmakers do all the work instead of forcing plays.

I saw a lot I liked. Saw some I didn't like, but overall, it looks like this OL is the real deal and Dallas will run the ball on anyone. Assuming Romo gets back to normal, that will make a big difference.

Rolando McClain was strong in the middle. Really strong. He is the most physical MLB I remember Dallas having. He stands blockers up at the point of attack like a beast.

I really liked the physical nature of the team. Look more physical than they have in years.

I am not even remotely optimistic about anything.

It is literally more of the same. Get enough yards to give ppl hope. Can't score. Stupid mistakes. Turnovers. None of our own. No guts. Come back and lose. Make the score close after 3.5 quarters of domination. Bad game plan. Bad preparation. We've seen this for 4 years now. Not a single thing has changed except Romo is finally over the hill and all of our other weaknesses (particularly the head coach) are more apparent than ever.

Sure, our defense played above expectations today, but what about week 8 and 9 when these 'first team' players (in reality, second team guys) are banged up and we're down to our 3rd string? What happens when teams see more and more about our true weaknesses and start to exploit them? The offense was the only glimmer of hope we had this season and they looked dreadful, as usual
