I'm still optimistic

without the gifts from romo and his bad game the 49ers offense exploded for all of 14 pts. I'll take that each week from the defense. Romo and co will get it poppin soon enough.

Maybe, but I am not talking about the defense really, just that the rust should have been taken off earlier rather than in a real game.

It's only week one. I recall starting 1-0 the last two seasons just to go out and lose in week 2. Hopefully we go out and win the next two. I still can't wait until we see Lawrence and McClain in the mix. Aside from those two our boys put up a good fight on the line.

Just asking here. If you're going to say that Romo will be okay, because he's been better in recent years, don;t you also have to say that the defense probably will go back to their pitiful form because thats what they've shown in recent years? I don't think you can cherry pick.

Well that's what's going to happen next week. Old "good" Romo will be back next week and our defense will suck. That's how it's been like past few years. That's why we've been 8-8 under JG last 3 years. Rarely, we've been good in all 3 phases at the same time.

I want to see a few more weeks of Romo before I declare him gone. I want to see a few more weeks of this defense before I remove it from bad range. Right now I'd say the defense is bad, but not terrible like it was last year.

Agreed but to be fair they are trying to make sure he can make it through the season. If Garrett was on top of his game he would've recognized it early and pulled him but he would never do that for fear of having to explain why. The only coach in the league that I think would have the stones to pull a move like that is Pete Carrol.

I still think we're ok. It's one game.

It was alarming in that those 3 Romo ints, were entirely his fault, and Romo looked like a rookie qb out there, making bad reads.

And his HC looked just as clueless and lost as a rookie HC. Or should I say more lost and clueless than a rookie HC?

Romo is who he is. He sucked today but I don't think it was a physical issue with him, so I'm not worried. If he's awful again next week I'll begin to worry.

The D is comprised of a ton of new players and Marinelli is in his 2nd year with the team. We'll see what happens with them... in the last few years, the injuries kept piling up until they were no longer competitive. If they stay healthy for a change, maybe we can reverse that trend.

Remember: many people expected the 49ers OL to absolutely dominate and rack up 250+ rush yards. I liked what I saw from the front 7 today, and McClain looked as good as anyone could've possibly hoped.

Wow, you just got destroyed in your home opener, your QB is 35 coming off 2 back operations, and they D is pathedic, yea go ahead and get your heart broke again and again.

Who is "you" and where do you come from?
I am not in the mood.

Totally agree on the Romo comment. He was playing jittery tonight.
I'm so glad I'm on vacation the next 2 days so I can mourn in private. (bring back the crying emotioncon)

I am not even remotely optimistic about anything.

It is literally more of the same. Get enough yards to give ppl hope. Can't score. Stupid mistakes. Turnovers. None of our own. No guts. Come back and lose. Make the score close after 3.5 quarters of domination. Bad game plan. Bad preparation. We've seen this for 4 years now. Not a single thing has changed except Romo is finally over the hill and all of our other weaknesses (particularly the head coach) are more apparent than ever.

Sure, our defense played above expectations today, but what about week 8 and 9 when these 'first team' players (in reality, second team guys) are banged up and we're down to our 3rd string? What happens when teams see more and more about our true weaknesses and start to exploit them? The offense was the only glimmer of hope we had this season and they looked dreadful, as usual

I think it's reasonable for the optimism to ebb and rise
I dont know that it was a bad game plan as we need better quality players

Nothing wrong with a fan finding a reason to be optimistic. I doubt anyone was thinking Super Bowl coming into this season anyway. Reality is very few teams are in a position to assume any real level of success. This is the modern day NFL. Everyone is flawed. OP has some legit points. Doesn't mean his heart will be any more or less broken because of them.

The Cowboys have been stuck in the same vicious cycle of beating themselves and/or having the most ridiculous, can't believe my eyes, turn of events taking place and it's been going on for years. It happened with Parcels, Wade and now Red. Before Parcels, in the Campo era, they just plane ole sucked. I believe this franchise is just cursed. Parcels knew it and is why I think he bolted. Being a fan for a long time and seeing this ongoing fiasco, game after game and season after season, I am convinced
