It’s an amazing what happens when you’re without 3 starting offensive linemen and your best cornerback. Not to mention all the terrible penalties. A lot because of those lineman playing.

Ughhhhh
this is true, but we need to have backups who can do a decent job without causing penalties... hopefully this is a fluke, but I am not sure what the defenses excuse is.

I know it's just a game. I didn't expect us to go undefeated. However, I'm finding myself taking this loss harder than usual. I know I shouldn't, but this loss hurt. I'm always going to be a Cowboys fan. I enjoy this forum. I will never be a fan of an NFL team other than the Cowboys. I want to make that crystal clear, and that's not changing with this loss. Let me just explain what's on my psyche. If nothing else, this is a chance for me to just write my thoughts as it's better at times to write out my frustrations than keep them inside of me. So, please, do not take this as me quitting or anything. I'm simply putting my thoughts to paper, if you will. I'll be watching the game against the Patriots next week, and the following game and so on. I'm just struggling with this defeat.

To start with, I'm 30. I haven't seen the success many of you have. So, when I saw our defence playing like it did in the first two weeks, I got a bit more excited than usual. Of course, I know the Cowboys will likely blow it at some point. Only one team can win the SB, after all. Plus, I've never seen us even make the NFCC. So, all I know is us blowing it at some point in the season, and the wheels falling off. But, I couldn't help but think that this might be a special year. It still might be. It's only one game. That said, this looked like a better team than I'm used to seeing from the Cowboys.

Then, the injuries started popping up this week. I understand. It's the NFL. It's hard to go against another NFL team when you're down as many players as we were today. It's just, why is it every time something looks to be going our way for once, something disastrous always seems to happen? At first, I saw reports we'd be down a few linemen. That's okay, I thought, we have a great offense. What I didn't expect was that we'd practically be down everyone on that unit but Steele and I think Tyler Smith. Then came the worst of it. The Diggs injury. I was posting in hope that maybe we could mitigate that. And maybe we still will, but it certainly took some wind out of my sails for this week.

Then there's the fact that we were playing the Cardinals. I've been a fan since either 1999 or 2000 (not really sure which year). Very rarely have I seen us beat the Cardinals. Especially in Arizona. I don't understand it. Why is it that we so rarely seem to beat Arizona? This might be the one win they get this year, and it's always us, it seems, that gets embarrassed by teams like the Cardinals.

Finally, the refs were horrible! Absolutely disgraceful. We did no favours by committing the penalties we did, but it was so unevenly officiated. There were at least 3 PIs in the end zone that the refs never called. Those were at least 3 possible TDs taken off the board. Then the hold in the end zone that they said was at the 1. The amount of times Micah was getting held. All in all, I felt the refs were horrible.

All in all, I'm absolutely reeling from this defeat ATM. I know I shouldn't be. I know it's only a game, and I've seen plenty of losses from the Cowboys. It's just more difficult this game because I thought we were a much better team than we seem to be today. Hopefully, everyone will be healthier next game. I know Diggs is out, but hopefully, we can have a full compliment of oline players next game. Hopefully, we can actually score a touchdown in the Red zone. Hopefully, we can beat the Patriots.
I'm about twice your age and your about my sons age. So I will tell you this, first I feel the same way after this loss but a bit more tempered. This is a marathon not a sprint and unfortunately the Diggs injury along with all the others do affect a team. But remember they were down a starting'QB a Pro Bowl S along with a few other players as well. It seemed Micah and the rest of the Def ( except Lawrence) had poor games, especially Hooker and Kearse from what I saw.
We got abused in the running game an area we thought we fixed. The defense as a whole played better in second half but to little to late. On Offense You would think we had enough film to know what to throw at them. On the bright side the 2 OL rookies plyed well so did Edgoa but he had a few rough snaps early.
With our talent at WR we should of been able to throw something else at them where we could get open, way to many plays where we were blanketed. That Dak pick was just horrendous. I dont want this to be Dak thread becaus I do like him but he is just a good player not an Elite guy or anything close to it. Watching this game as long as I have plus playing and coaching the real great one's dont have these moments consistently like he does. He will bounce back and have some good games but coaches have to put him in the best place to succeed.
So I feel your pain but be patient and let the season play out. Do not get to high or low after a game becaus you set yourself up for disappointment. There were a few penalties that did not go our way especially at the end in the end zone. But we should't have to depend on refs.
Good luck and hang in there

Just log in to the Cowboys online store, drop $300 on Cowboys merchandise, and say three “Hail Jerry’s.” You’ll feel nice and numb again. That and eat 20mgs of edibles

Now Rusty don't get yourself worked up in to a lather.
Yep our boys spit the bit on us today but there were earmarks that this could happen when I saw that first drive in the Giants game I knew that we still couldn't stop the run and I posted about it.
We got a lead we force teams to play to our strength and we look unstoppable because our pass rush is so good.
This snowballs things in a good way for us.
But when we get hit in the mouth with big running plays and the other team doesn't make any mistakes and we have to play from behind we are in trouble.

We flat out have struggled in the red zone for a while we don't have a closer a banger someone who can just impose their will and get the ball in the end zone when we get close.
In my opinion Dak is inconsistent in the red zone and I would like to see him run the ball himself there more I think it would change the game.

All that said buddy after following the cowboys since 1969 what I can tell you about this team is to just hold your expectations to making the playoffs and maybe winning a game and you won't be disappointed

Eventually we will get there. It might not be during the JJ era, everything has to hit at just the right time.

it's not that we don't have good players and coaches, because we do. I honestly think it is the atmosphere in the organization atm.

Do you think Stephen is going to be able to turn this around?

Y’all have to learn to expect the worst when it comes to this team. Like you’re watching a movie. It stinks but it’s the only way you’ll survive as a fan of the Cowboys. Thankfully I’m able to flush any anger within 5 minutes of a disappointing Cowboys game. But I understand your pain. I was the same many years ago.

And I had been getting better about this, but this game just hurt.

Im with you. I thought this year might be different. I, mercifully, didn't get/have to watch this game today. They had the Chiefs game on FOX in my area.
Thanks for summing up todays game for us who didn't see the game. I was following the play by play online and was just stunned that they were down by 2 scores with such little time left and just kept running the ball as if we were up by the 2 scores - WOW.
I think the problems against the Cardinals are because they have more than not been a bad team and we always seem to look past them and show up thinking its an easy W. They are playing like its the Super Bowl to them and the Cowboys act like just showing up is good enough to win.
I am most disappointed in MM - and his obviously not having his team ready to play today. It seems he failed at both OC & HC today.

I went to a pub nearby to watch it. I enjoy it because I know the owner. But, I wish I'd skipped this game .

I’ll help you with one thing. The players played hard, sometimes trying to do too much, missing their responsibilities in gaps and coverage, not to mention all the penalties. We had not had that many penalties in the first half since 1991.

But it’s also on the coaches. We all love Dan Quinn, but his defensive calls and schemes were awful in the first half. It’s his job to put guys in position to be successful. He failed, perhaps thinking more about the secondary without Diggs and pushing the pass rush too hard. In my opinion, it resulted in a poor performance by Parsons and in opening many gaps in the run defense. When your defense is so unsound that OL get to skip blocking DL and move up to the second level, your LBs and DBs get killed.

I hope Quinn steps up and says something about it. I feel the Cardinals offensive staff outcoached him in this game. Our players have shown that they can stop the run when the scheme calls for it.

Don't take it too hard. It happens.

Week 14, 1995 Washington 24, Cowboys 17. Ugly game against an awful Washington squad, failed in almost every level

Week 15, 1995 Eagles 20 Cowboys 17, the previous loss stuck with them and Switzer failed to get the team over it.

I'm not saying this team is as good as the one that won Super Bowl XXX, but it happens. Lets wait to panic after we see how the team responds to it and gets at least some of its OL back.

And now they can at least drop the Doomsday junk and stop "eating the cheese". This is why I said earlier and got reamed on this board for it. You don't get to anoint yourself Doomsday in Week 2, you EARN it by late season.

True. Hopefully, this was the humbling experience that the team needed to get themselves in gear for the rest of the season.

I appreciate that. I think DQ overthought things a bit this game.
