It took me awhile to get on Dez's side, but he's won me over. 6 catches for 86 yards in 2 playoff games is more because of coverage like I saw yesterday. Dez in the slot, jammed by a LB at the snap, Corner carries him to the middle where safety joins in on the coverage. 3 guys assigned to this Beast.

The thing that pisses me off is we need more underneath routes, Romo has taken a lot of sacks lately b/c we have every route pretty much running 15 yards down the field with their back to Romo and then the pocket starts to close around him & he has to run around like a chicken with his head cut off .. I wish we had Dunbar in the Seahawks game just able to dump it off & get 5-6 yards or maybe breaking one off.

He was targeted 4 times yesterday, what more do you want him to do.

You can't just look at it like that with that simplistic of a view. I think Dez is a hell of a player but there are quite a few games where you forget he is even on the team. It's been like that quite a bit in his career.

One of the main knocks on him is how with his size he has, he lets defenders consistently take him out of the play as they come to press him and someone his size should not have to fight that hard to get into his route.

Maybe he wasn't targeted because he was not getting open?

And yes, Garrett's schemes are bad. I know Linehan is now calling the plays but it's still Garrett's playbook. We are the most unimaginative offense out there when it comes to moving guys around. Dez is always out wide. Bring him in the slot sometimes. Put him in motion. Too many long developing routes from this team.

get separation from 2 defenders, one under and one over, in the 3.5 seconds a QB gets to throw the ball.......how dare him,

I'm talking constantly... the only time he is thrown the ball is 1on1... but that's another story

You do realize every single top WR gets the treatment, right? This is nothing new. If you are telling me it's that easy to shut Dez down at all times by just doing that and he can't figure out a way to beat it consistently, then what is the point of breaking the bank?

Dez does need to show up more... sometimes he takes over games, sometime u forget he is even there...
I mean we threw the ball 19 times! Yesterday alone...Luck threw the ball 24 times in the 1st half. Manning threw it 18 times in the first half. We should be glad Dez does not blow a gasket with how little effort we make to get him the ball. Theoretically we LIKE that Dez gets doubled...it should allow us to run the ball all day. But we have no speed at all on this offense...so the RB, TEs and WRs that should be galloping through defenses...kind of plod along. I like WItten, and Beasley and Murray etc...but if we are going to allow teams to completely take Dez out of the game...this offense should be more explosive. But again...that is not our style. We tend to gameplan to protect the defense! And like I said...they have convinced Dez that this approach is the best way for THIS team to win!

I was at the game, so you probably couldn't tell from the telecast, but GB had a safety (Haha Dix) over the top of him on every single play. The first time they left Dez in one on one was the 4th and 2 play. Other than a WR screen, I didn't see many opportunities to get him the ball.

This is all coaching. And that's been a huge issue in the Garrett era. We never adjust. We just keep running the same stuff over and over. If they have that coverage, then adjust your routes accordingly.

This goes back years and years of teams just easily taking away our stars and letting them dictate the action.

I think "because he was not getting open" is also a simplistic view. There's too many variables. Is the play called for Dez. Is he getting open and the line isn't holding up their blocks. Is he beating the corner off the ball but a safety or LB is lurking causing Romo to throw elsewhere.

I don't want my QB throwing to any player who is doubled.
I prefer Williams, Witten, Beasley ect in single coverage over ANY player who is being doubled.

That said the scheme could get Dez the ball more in the slot or other formations.....

Catches every ball thrown his way. Don't ask me why the scheme is content with keeping Dez as a decoy. There is a difference bw forcing the ball and "forcing the issue" schematically. SMH...we could have rode Dez to the SB. Guess we will have to hope that Romo's back will get better as he ages.

You can't throw 19 passes and expect big stats from every player. Our offense doesn't force targets to a single receiver the way it used to with Terrell Owens. It's a big reason why Witten's numbers sometimes go down, where Terrance Williams disappears for weeks, why Cole Beasley isn't a factor sometimes, etc.

We don't force feed the ball to Dez the way you see, say, the Falcons do it with Julio Jones. Should we? You can have that debate, but I don't pin that on Dez "not showing up."

In the 90s, we ran a very simplistic offense. We rarely changed what we did and we didn't do anything real complicated. Execution is what it's about in JGs Offense.

We played well enough to win. Sometimes the ball bounces funny and that's what happened yesterday IMO.

GB leading WR Jordy Nelson had 2 catches, he was covered so Rodgers went to others that is what smart QB do.

The sillyness of members on this forum after a loss , real or trolling, would be a great case study.

Just when you read a thread and wonder if someone is trolling or really being serious, along comes one of two more to agree.

Mind melting... Maybe the movie idiocracy was prophetic.
