Imagine now had these fools not extended Dak

The few Dak over Dallas people getting old very quick. I was never a fan of him from the start but thought he could develop into someone who could drive the bus and said we could win a superbowl with him but that has been long gone since his ankle injury.

Dak is not the quarterback for the Cowboys. He has already shown his limits both good/bad and is now is a massive hinderous moving forward especially with his contract. Product of the talent around him and has been atrocious in the post season bar the bucs game. Has been gifted top OLs, multiple number 1 recievers, good TE's, premier run game, good to above average defenses(except our Achilles heel in stopping the run) in getting turnovers. Sometimes a combination of these things all in the same year.

Most quarterbacks never get this much talent around them ever. His contract will go down as one of the worst Cowboys contracts ever imo and or possibly Watson level of fail in the quarterback realm.

But yes it's fun to debate this but we all know Jerry and the front office is the real problem.

Not getting into the Dak debate about his value or worth or ability or whatever. But I DO want to clear up something about the cap and his extension.

The Cowboys would have been in worse cap shape if they did not extend Dak. For starters they would have been paying $25 million to him in 2025 to NOT be on the roster. They can now "kick the can down the road" with his deal, spreading the money out through 2028, and have even MORE flexibility than they would had they let him walk. Remember, his old 2021 contract included two "ghost" seasons at the end of the deal in which they would have still been obligated to have him count against the cap.

By varying estimates the Cowboys increased their available cap space next year to anywhere from $60 to $83 million of space thanks to the Dak (and Lamb) extensions. The key now is to operate in this three to four year window with Dak (for better or for worse) before he is gone and the full rebuild begins.

Because no matter what Jerry Jones says, I still think they intended 2024 to be a "soft" rebuild season. That's why there was no urgency to get the Dak and Lamb deals done early. Because they had no intention to spend this season anyway in preparation for a better cap situation starting next year. It's just that they would never admit punting on a season because, well, that doesn't sell tickets.

We have drastically different opinions on the supporting cast that has been given to Dak.

Multiple number 1 receivers is highly subjective- and people are number one receivers based on their QB. If Ceedee is a number 1 then Dak gets credit for making him a number one. Amari Cooper was close to a one, and he had his best years with Dak- I don't know how Dak doesn't get credit for making him better. We have never had a Tyreek Hill/Jamar Chase type player. Ceedee doesn't strike fear or is not nearly as dynamic as they are. It isn't even close honestly. From my perspective, the WRs we have given Dak have been, generally speaking slow, small, and old.

The O-line, i'm not sure. Recently it doesnt seem to have been great but I may be wrong. O-line play seems average especially lately. I'd agree it was much better in the past.

Good tight ends is a result of the scheme. It's not the players. I don't think anyone believes that Schultz/Jarwin/Ferguson were anything special. Schultz is very average in Houston.

I'll give you the defense but they have completely crapped the bed in the playoffs year in and year out.

I really disagee with your statement that "most quarterbacks never get this much talent around them ever." I think most teams have much better/comparable talent and I don't really think that your comment is true at all.

How come nobody is talking about Daks 89 million dollar cap hit in 2025?
I did. You have to go back and read every post from beginning to end. Just kidding. But I did. It's here somewhere.

They don't spend in FA. They're not trading for a high priced player either. Since they have a lot of cap space, they're taking this opportunity to get rid of a large portion of his contract against the cap. It's just bookkeeping. We're not winning anything with a QB taking up 1/3 of the cap.

Has a player or more specifically a starting QB come back from this injury to play at the same level before? My hope is that the staff recognizes Dak is nowhere near able to compete at a high level after rehab and that he retires, if that helps our cap space situation (I am completely ignorant of the cap rules.)
The level he was playing at pre injury wasn’t good enough.

Signing Dak was worse than Taco over watt, joey Galloway, shante carver, Roy Williams and firing Jimmy combined.
Yeah. It’s sure looking like it. I was not for the signing at the numbers he signed for. I would have let him walk before that.

There’s NO CHANCE that I pay Dak a record contract and give him a no trade clause.

You had 12 hours to stew on my comment, and this is your comeback??

Don't strain any harder, your hamstring might separate from the bone.
I slept like a baby....but it seems like you are sitting in front of your computer or phone wide awake, looking for my responses...since it seems like you are keeping a clock and track of when I post something

interesting turn of events. this response makes you look even dumber and I didn't think that was possible.

and emoji's coming out....do you feel like you are losing the battle and resorting to emojis?

???

It's basic math. I saw the last post I put in here and your reply was approximately 12 hours later

Do you think it's surprising that people can tell time?
certainly for you its challenging, but very interesting you keeping track of when I posted and like a dummy concluded it took me 12 hours to respond...like I said, unlike you I don't stay awake continuously watching for people to respond so I can respond back to them within a minute...

you need to get a life. revolving your existence around Dak and your anger towards him is not healthy, neither physically nor mentally....

seek help. find other interests. this is only football. its entertainment. consuming yourself like that with something that unimportant and making it a big deal in your life....not good.

good luck...again, my advice. seek help...seriously

The timing of it hours before the Cleveland game? Like what?! Now we’re strapped to him and this is also with what is a 6-8 injury. He can’t even ride a bike for the next two months at minimum. The hamstring tore completely off the pelvic muscle!
The timing of it spelled "desperation". Lance has just tossed 5 picks to grocery workers. As for injuries.....it's football. Players get hurt. You'll never change that part. (See Romo). You've seen this, don't think an NFL player shouldn't/can't get hurt.

QB's salaries are only going up from here. GM's can and will build better teams around their qb than Jerry ever has. Other GM's have ran circles around Jerry for 30 years.

Every team works with the same cap, so its short sighted to blame everything on a qb contract. Every team will eventually have to deal with big contracts.

Another thing... that whole "Dak over Cowboys" saying is silly, we are all Cowboys fans.
