Imagine now had these fools not extended Dak

I have no problem with Dallas taking a QB in the 2025 draft. Of course we'd have to cross our fingers that it is the right guy. So many first round QB turn out not to be the right guys. Look at Trevor Lawrence. He was probably one of the most talked about, highly rated prospects coming out of college in recent years and his teams looks to be heading for the first pick in the draft.

But We are not going to get rid of Dak anytime soon because his CAP hit is huge, and his salary is guaranteed.

We talk about what Jerry did not do in the offseason, but we should be talking about the things he did do. Signing Dak's $60 million contract was worse than signing nobody in free agency and letting all his players leave. I would argue signing CeeDee was a big mistake too. But if you are unwilling to sign free agents you are forced to sign your own players for whatever they want.

My main issue isn’t signing Dak

The main issue is that it could cause a coaching opportunity to be less desirable here because you have the QB in place.

Does somebody like Johnson or Slowik want to risk their chances on a guy like Dak? Or do you go somewhere like Las Vegas and get to draft your guy?

I always said, it’s going to be a guy like Mike Vrabel. This is a good thing. Vrabel is a defensive minded coach and we need help on that side. He can come in, say let’s get you an upgrade at RB, WR and some OL help and know Dak, Lamb, Fergs, Tyler Smith will all be good players.
I think Ben Johnson is a mad scientist who is a genius at what he does. Having said that Detroit is loaded on offense. Top tier WR, TE, and two top backs, plus the Oline. I don’t know his personality however and I just can’t see a young guy being able to work with these two old fools and have them at each and every meeting. It would be weird and uncomfortable. Unless he has moxie like McVay.

there would be hope, there would be options. whether they would have made good use of the fresh start is a fair question but as a fan at least we would have fresh beginning to look forward to.
Right. And don’t forget the mega comp pick he would have brought back after he signed with someone else….

While I hate losing, as I love my favorite sports team to be on the winning side and love football. What would be the boards feelings at this point knowing we would have all these high draft picks and possibly a new franchise QB?

Would your outlook on the future be the same? Would you be enjoying this season more?

Talk amongst yourselves…
I can imagine that scenario....

Casual Dak Haters would sell us fake news that Cooper Rush or Trey Lance.

Casual Dak Haters will tell us how the next 'Trevor Lawrence' is a generational talent :lmao:

The outlook would be hope.

A QB is the only position that can turn your franchise from trash to treasure overnight.

Look no further than Washington.

Jerry is getting what he deserves, sucks Cowboys fans have to be collateral.

The timing of it hours before the Cleveland game? Like what?! Now we’re strapped to him and this is also with what is a 6-8 injury. He can’t even ride a bike for the next two months at minimum. The hamstring tore completely off the pelvic muscle!
What's the problem beside the actual late and last second signing of Dak, that could have reduced market value payout? As for injuries......Tony Romo got injured some more after his contract. Where you going with this?

The new HC won’t even get to play with his toy until TC. Only mental reps until late a July. And that’s without any set backs.

speaking of Detroit, people criticized their pick of Gibbs so high, their LB's, etc..
Is anyone going to give them credit for sticking to their plans of how to build a team & player evaluation?
They have a dual headed monster at RB who can pick up the dirty yards & house it from anywhere plus being dangerous receivers.
Their OL gives their running game & passing game what they need to be successful.
They are in position where just another player or two upgraded could very well make them the next perennial contender.

He did Sunday night. Others could as well. It's pretty common in NFL QB's for most franchises.

I would feel 10x better.

There was zero reason to extend Dak at the last second like that. It was totally stupid.

I would still draft a QB.

Dak can be cut in 2 more seasons.

Draft a QB. Cut Dak as soon as you can.

Move on with life.

But Dak Haters will stand on the table for the next "Can't Miss Prospect"....like Joe Burrow, whose defense has more 4th QTR TDs in the playoffs....

Yep, that is why NO franchise has given Cooper Rush a chance to compete for Starting Job .....it's pretty common....oops Uninamous for ALL 32 franchises

Actually, I see a completely difunctional organization that Dak has carried as best one man can. Football is a team sport more than most. He is not in his prime but not the problem.
So when Dak had Cooper, Lamb, a healthy Gallup as his starting WRs, Zeke and Pollard rushing over 5 YPC, a top ranked TO and scoring defense, Zach Martin in his prime, Tyron Smith and Tyler Smith on one side, how exactly was Dak carrying them? It was the other way around…
