You do know diseases can be spread through spit. I would not say it is harmless. I think people who do that or anything to someones food are idiots. If you have a problem, then address it. It isn't funny even though you are unlikely to get caught.

Well all I can say is since moving to California for college and staying here after, I've eaten my fair share of In N Out burgers and they have never once screwed up my order. I always order it with no tomatoes and grilled onions and they've gotten it right every single time (and this is...HUNDREDS of times)...so yeah, In N Out rocks if you ask me.

Explain this.

Keep in mind, I'm not allowed to tell my guests I'm mad at them, or speak negatively to them at all. I'm not even allowed to let them know I think they are rude, and I'm to give them everything they demand.

So.. WAT DO!?

And actually, it's hilarious to think someone is eating the stuff that is between tiles on the floor. Spit.. not so funny.

The reason I "lost my crap" is because I drove 35 minutes there, and waited another 30 minutes in line. Dumb? Yes, but I shouldn't be rewarded with a burger I can't eat. Just saying.

...and yes. I will now have the NEXT SIX meals for free, because of onions. I've never been one to complain, but I've even gotten $100 off a meal I already ate at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant too. haha.

No offense, but you sound like "one of THOSE people" that managers can't stand. You claim your not the type to complain, but then say you complained to the customer service, to the manager and then to the district manager at one food chain. Then follow it up that you complained at another restaurant as well.

Maybe your just too picky to eat at fast food places. You get what you pay for.

And why would you drive 35 minutes to a FAST FOOD restaurant? You could have driven to an actual restaurant and been served by the same time you got your order. If that weren't enough, you drove back again lol.

I've recently had In-n-Out in SD, and the food is decent, above average, but there are tons of burger joints in Nashville that blow it out of the water.

I even enjoy 5 guys more.

5 Guys is great.

Being someone who has worked in hospitality and service industry for a long time now, I just want to let you know something. I can tell from the OP what kind of "guest" you are. I just want to let you know how many unmentionable things you've eaten in your food, unawares. 'Cause we go to great lengths to assure *******s like you get only the best :)

Spit, old food scrapings, you name it, you've eaten it.

Anyone who ever goes some place and actually uses the words "Unacceptable" needs to just go hang them selves from a bridge.

You mean to tell me the minimum wage teenagers who handle thousands of burgers with all kinds of different variations on toppings every day got yours wrong? how F'ing dare them. Don't they know who you are?

Go shoot yourself please.

Sorry if I seem harsh, like you I just had a bad night, except i was on the other end. I was the person dealing with the ******* guests who find it UNACCEPTABLE that their food was not correct. So I felt like venting, and saying some of the things that would get me fired at work :)

Yup, no spit burger for me. I've heard too many of these stories. I take my botched order and don't go back.

I may say something like don't spend it all in one place and leave some dirt bag waiter .5 cents.

I went to a restaurant in Round Rock a few months back. This waiter comes to me and starts moaning about how his last table stiffed him. Off the bat, I was like "I'm gonna do the same thing."...mostly because I didn't go there to hear his problems. I went there to relax and have some tex-mex.

I didn't say anything, but I'm not dumb enough to act like a jerk until I leave either. Stiffing is how I do it, but that's difficult at a FF joint.

I worked in the restaurant industry for about a decade, in various restaurants and bars and in various capacities. I have to say that i have never seen anyone do that to a somebody's order (I'm not saying it doesn't happen). And I have to say I'm glad i never had to witness that. If i had seen one of my fellow waiters or bartenders do that, i would have walked up to the customer and told them not to eat or drink their order and informed the manager. If it had happened under my watch when i was a manager, i would have fired the staff person on the spot and reported them to the police, although i don't know what type of legal action that could be taken. There is just no ****ing excuse IMO for someone to do that. There are many ways you can deal with the troublesome customers. But maybe those avenues are not as satisfying to some as spiting in someone's food or adding whatever else disgusting staff that is handy. BTW, it also doesn't resolve the issue or let the customer know that their behavior can not be tolerated. The customer IS NOT always right, especially if they are acting like a *******.

I have had customers who were rude and obnoxious. When i was a waiter, and if i had done what i could to take care of the situation without success, i have walked up to the manager and told him/her that i refuse to continue serving that customer. It was then the managers responsibility to take care of it. My managers knew me well enough to know that I wouldn't refuse unless i found it impossible to wait on the customer. They then had to take care of the customer themselves or ask them to leave the premises. When i was a manager and one of my employees had the same issues, i took care of it the same way. As a bartender, I actually had the right to refuse service to any customer who was too drunk, troubling other customers or otherwise behaving badly.

IN N OUT is ahhhhh-mazing. I had the great pleasure of hitting the Frisco location back in May. Just as great as I remembered it in Cali. I'm psyched that they are in Texas. I truly never thought it would happen. Anyone know when the Arlington one is opening? The Cowboys plus IN N Out burger is one fantastic day.

So, last week I finally went to 1 of the new In-n-outs here in Dallas. Of course, I had to wait 30 min. in the drive through. I get my order and drive home. I didn't check my order because they take it TWICE before you get your food. No reason to mess it up, right? Wrong. I ordered a Double-double with ONLY CHEESE, MEAT, and ANIMAL SAUCE. When I get home, it's LOADED with onions.

I called the hotline to tell them. They are extremely apologetic, and immediately send out 3 coupons for FREE combos. Cool.

I go today to redeem a coupon. Wait in line 30 minutes, again, tell them slowly "only CHEESE, MEAT, and ANIMAL SAUCE. Ya'll messed up my order last time. Make sure it's correct."

I get to the drive through, get my food, and it's WRONG. Onions all over it. I say " I need to speak to the manager IMMEDIATELY." He comes to the window. I tell him "this is the SECOND time you messed up my order. This is completely UNACCEPTABLE. I want only CHEESE, MEAT, and ANIMAL SAUCE. NO ONIONS.

He says "ok, we'll make you a new burger and fries." He hands me the burger and fries. I drive off. There's no way this order is WRONG, right?

NOPE. ****ED IT UP AGAIN. ONIONS all over the burger. AT this point I've told them 5 times, NO ONIONS.

I got more coupons for free combos on the way, and a call from the Division Manager. I fully expect atLEAST a $50 gift card.

**** IN-N-OUT. I feel stupid for waiting that long to get the most overrated burger on the planet.

/rant.

So, you're that guy? What are you 9? Take the darn things off and eat it.

Me neither. Worst I've ever seen was, as a bartender, having a big group of people getting poured house liquor and pay for top shelf if they were obnoxious. And I was totally on board with that. :p:

if you can finish their large fries, I bow down to you. I usually get through like a third of it. it's like 2 Super Sized Fries at McDs.

We split one between us, and even that is almost too much.

Been in it for over a decade, and the only place I've never seen it happen is the one I manage now. That is in no small part that if a customer is an *******, I know about it from the get go. I have no problem whatsoever inviting a problem customer to never come back. Did it just this past week as a matter of fact.

You take your national chain restaurants, piss off the server, come back, you'll get restaurant justice, and the management staff will never see it happen if it's a closed kitchen.

The movie "Waiting" gets it exactly right.

You've got college kids or any of the 18-24 year old demographic making enough cash for parties and rent, not knowing where they're headed in life or waiting to graduate in a few semesters and you get them pissed off at you? You think they give a flying * what is sanitary or not?

Get them on a busy Friday lunch when they're hung over?

Every server with more than 6-8 months of experience has a story of something they've seen done to self-important people who decided to take out their frustrations on the server because the kitchen sent out a medium steak instead of medium-rare. Management never saw it, and cliques that servers run in are as tight as jail yard gangs. No one says anything, ever.

I wouldn't even want to start the list of things I've seen done to people's food.

There's a reason the warning "Never piss off a waiter. They're alone with your food." was put onto T-shirts.

LOL... I noticed that, too...

I see no point in being the squeaky wheel, in throwing a hissy when a restaurant gets my order wrong... of course, when going through the drive thru I always check my order first, and if the error happens at a sit-down restaurant I politely point out the mistake, at which point the restaurant fixes the problem...

Imagine that...

So, you are telling me you have absolutely no options? I know "the customer is always right", but don't you have the right to refuse service to anyone? Speak to your supervisor about the rude customer. I am sure there are procedures set in place on what to do.

The best way to deal with someone rude is to just let it go. Their life isn't going to be any better for being a jerk and your life is not any worse for being yelled at or scolded.
