Man...there's something wrong with you dude. You think you are THAT big and important you get to decide who is a fan? Because they don't do it as you command. Wow.

We have loved this team longer than you have been alive. The TEAM...JERRY...has made it so we don't like what is happening NOW. We have been through these things before...but briefer and less insanity.

Your holier-than-thou act is incredibly immature... and frankly... well never mind.

Imagine posters so miserable that they can't spot a joke if it bit them in their black heart. Sad individual....
Please, just give it a rest. Calling people black hearted, sad individuals over something as stupid as a discussion about an NFL team is insanely melodramatic.

I'm not. I only say it for long rambling posts like OP, which are just a confession that you don't actually like the team lol

I'm not, I don't like the Jones family.

I'm not. You are not a fan, because you do not like anything about the team.
I accept your opinion, even though I do not understand it. Myself and 80% of the posters on this site are not fans because Mac says so.

Its funny seeing these guys who joined a year ago preach to people who have been here for 20 years.

I'm not reading it but I'm saying if you're gonna use the same narrative that you hate the last 28 years and you bring up the same narrative and you basically go copy and paste the same thing in every thread it's the same response from a few people in here maybe 10 or 15 it's nothing but nothing but negativity they hate everything about the team from top to bottom why wouldn't some of our responses go find another team it shouldn't be the response to every negative thing said but there are some people in here that I feel like I'm dealing with Philadelphia eagle fans or I'm dealing with New York giant fans I'm dealing with the enemy the fans from other teams and yet we're supposed to be a group and be a fan of the Dallas Cowboys if you hate everything about them and you have for 20 years then you should no longer be a fan that's my point it's not about saying something negative or saying something that's true it's saying the same damn thing every time that you hate everything about the team you hate everyone's contract you hate everyone's players you hate the front office and ownership from top to bottom you even hate the people that report everybody hate everything about the team why are you a fan yes the question will be raised and I will occasionally say that you should find another team if that's everything about the team 24/7 365 and every damn response is all negative if you're 100% negative you're not a fan if you're 100% against the Cowboys you're not a fan

do you understand now some of us who are real fans can say negative things occasionally we say real things that are broke or wrong with this team but we don't constantly in every thread post the same thing there are people that post the exact same response about the 28 year narrative or about Jerry Jones and the circus they say the same comments in every thread every time yes those people please find another team delete your account and move on your life will be better for it and so will mine

do you understand now?lol
First four words invalidates your response.

Also, just so you know, it’s hard to tell when you’re joking because you have such an attitude on here most of the time.

So, only you can call people out? You're must be special! Comical!

Not sure what part of this thread is a “call out”. It is a much needed response to an argument that has been thrown around A LOT the last few weeks.

This thread is getting nasty now though and it wasn’t the original intention.

Long story short, everyone is still a fan of this team, whether they’re mad at how things are going under Jerry Jones or not.

Proof's very sincere open reply should embarrass mac. I know that wasn't Proof's intent...but the perspective is brutal.
No. If the organization evolves into something difference, then it does not have the same connection.

You all cry that "the Cowboys aren't what they once were," so then that association is gone. When my dad inevitably passes away, I will miss watching games with him - but not rooting for them anymore because I hate how they're run doesn't undo any of the connection with my father. I like OP, but the "I'm a fan even though this is not anything I like" doesn't resonate.

The team evolving and rooting for someone else doesn't change the past lol. I mean how many thousands of posts on this site am I supposed to read "I no longer feel the passion I did" blah blah blah?

Serious question...I wonder if some if some of our fans go into a bar and hear Cowboy haters talking crap about the Cowboys and they join in? Or, do they defend their team? I'd never thought about that. That's why I stopped watching games at bars back in the 80s. It would piss me off. Now, I just come in here or Facebook to get pissed off! Lol
I mean read this board lol. I have never heard more people say Dak sucks than Cowboys fans.

"Man the DLine is bad." "Dak sucks."
"The OL can't run block." "Dak sucks."
"Jerry is a bad GM." "Dak sucks."

The only bad part about being a Cowboys fan is being associated with other Cowboys fans. Worst fan base in sports.

No, it's a perfectly apt metaphor. Sorry you don't like it.

I didn't say you can't criticize. You are saying you can't abandon a team that a) doesn't reflect the one you initially rooted for b) you like nothing about c) you have no optimism for. The team you rooted for is already gone. Compared to the 1970 Cowboys, rooting for the 2024 Cowboys is no different than rooting for another organization.
this makes logical sense, but fan is short for fanatic. we are not rational people, or the majority of us would’ve abandoned long ago. for better or worse we’re stuck together. get comfy

I mean I guess that's fair lol.

But what I can't stand is stuff like this: "What they have become and how this organization is managed is nothing we can be proud to associate with." If being a fan means being proud of the team, and you are no longer proud of the team, you are no longer a fan. The memories and nostalgia don't disappear

i used to get in literal bar fights behind it. as a hot headed youngster. now i don’t join in, but i’ll tacitly / begrudgingly agree with valid points. the most adversarial i’ll get is “who’s your team” which typically leads to a lot of stammering and back pedaling and i’ll just let that marinate.

a lot of times i’ll get “see at least you’re a reasonable cowboys fan, i can respect that”

and i’ll say “do you typically meet unreasonable cowboys fans when you’re mocking them and parroting talking head hot takes?”

but mostly i just sulk lol

If you answer no, you’re just as bad as the rest of us.

agreed. i can somewhat understand the older generation really taking pride in being a model organization, full of larger than life figures abd setting the standard. but if after 30 years you’re still here then you know what you’re getting.

I don't watch a lot of games at bars - just big ones usually - but I think the last 5 over the last two years were

Cowboys at 49ers last September (L 42-10)
Cowboys at Eagles last November (L 28-23)
Cowboys at Bills last December (L 31-10)
Packers at Cowboys in playoffs (L48-32)
Lions at Cowboys this October (L 47-9)

Brutal run lol

this is a point that’s really overlooked. i argue faaaaaaaar more and much more bitterly with cowboy fans than anyone else. sad state of affairs. it used to be fun. more of a sheepdog and coyote clocking in at this point. at least i don’t have to stomach a certain west virginian these days and finally started utilizing the block button as i’ve found myself becoming more mean spirited

I don't think anyone should be proud of a team they root for, ever, so I can't relate to that - if Dallas wins the trophy, your name isn't going on it. I don't think the GM is good but most of the hooplah people complain about I don't think matters.

I don't sit here and defend my fandom or say I can't leave though. So no, even if my answer was no, I'm not the same.

I'm in Bills country - they know what it is like to go through miserable stretches and have much different perspective. It is fun to argue with them because they actually appreciate good teams. None of them ever say Dak sucks because they know what crappy quarterbacks actually are lol.

yeah that’s tough lol. and i think that’s my biggest issue. from a social perspective any games worth taking apart of “outside” tend to be the biggest humiliations. and boyyyy do people love to kick sand in our faces. i don’t think i’ve been to an actual game in close to 10 years. and it’s a shame because i used to really enjoy it

I'll maybe go see Dallas again when they're in Buffalo but I'll probably never go to a game again unless I have a kid who wants to. The in-game experience anywhere isn't worth the price.

I can understand that, even if I don’t agree.

I’m not “proud of the team” in the sense that I feel a sense of accomplishment when they win, we as fans do absolutely nothing, it’s more that I would prefer the organization operate professionally in a way that people can respect. I would much prefer that over what we’ve got now with Jerry, but I don’t have $9 billion dollars to buy the team so it’s a moot point lol.
