I don't think anyone should be proud of a team they root for, ever, so I can't relate to that - if Dallas wins the trophy, your name isn't going on it. I don't think the GM is good but most of the hooplah people complain about I don't think matters.

I don't sit here and defend my fandom or say I can't leave though. So no, even if my answer was no, I'm not the same.
i’m not sure it’s pride for me. but after so many years of charlie brown and the football, being so heavily invested in the romos and dez’s and wittens, and seeing their / our hopes dashed so many times in such comical predictable fashion, the rise of the steven a smiths of the world etc … at this point i just want the release :muttley:

I'll maybe go see Dallas again when they're in Buffalo but I'll probably never go to a game again unless I have a kid who wants to. The in-game experience anywhere isn't worth the price.
yeah. i wound up getting spurs season tickets. much more fun and low stress and … wemby. i’ve actively steered my kid away from becoming invested in the cowboys after seeing his reaction to losing to the 9ers in 2022. you don’t want this life, kid. lol

I’m breaking the cycle of violence too. My children will never be allowed to join me here in Cowboyland. I just can’t do it to them haha.

I'm in Bills country - they know what it is like to go through miserable stretches and have much different perspective. It is fun to argue with them because they actually appreciate good teams. None of them ever say Dak sucks because they know what crappy quarterbacks actually are lol.
semi ironically. my dad (huge cowboys fan as well) randomly sent me a picture of my mom in a bills shirt giving a thumbs up a few years ago. and a msg saying “your mother has joined the bills mafia”

it was so random and hilarious, but she’s been a devout bills fan since. and i almost envy the ability to just pack it up and try somewhere new as suggested by some here. she seems to be enjoying it just fine lol. women and their lack of irrational sports attachments are awesome

I can understand that, even if I don’t agree.

I’m not “proud of the team” in the sense that I feel a sense of accomplishment when they win, we as fans do absolutely nothing, it’s more that I would prefer the organization operate professionally in a way that people can respect. I would much prefer that over what we’ve got now with Jerry, but I don’t have $9 billion dollars to buy the team so it’s a moot point lol.
I don't know what this means. Every owner would run their team exactly like the Cowboys if they could.

The Pegulas just took $850m in public money for a stadium nobody wanted while Buffalo schools are laying off teachers. The owners are all scumbags.

Is every owner also the president and GM of their franchise? No. Not a single one.

The owners are all scumbags, but Dallas has one of the most dysfunctional management structures in professional sports.

No. If the organization evolves into something difference, then it does not have the same connection.

You all cry that "the Cowboys aren't what they once were," so then that association is gone. When my dad inevitably passes away, I will miss watching games with him - but not rooting for them anymore because I hate how they're run doesn't undo any of the connection with my father. I like OP, but the "I'm a fan even though this is not anything I like" doesn't resonate.

The team evolving and rooting for someone else doesn't change the past lol. I mean how many thousands of posts on this site am I supposed to read "I no longer feel the passion I did" blah blah blah?
You are free to read what you want or...get this...NOT read it. You'd think THAT would be a simple thing.

Its funny seeing these guys who joined a year ago preach to people who have been here for 20 years.
And I been a fan for 50+ years.

I went to check Mac's tenure...and he has marked his profile "unavailable". Kids these days.

He used to be someone else but changed his name to Mac. He won't say what he used to be.

The Governor sure set up her Husband with a sweetheart concession deal at the new Buffalo stadium.

'Ah...a coward to boot. Hmm.

I will GLADLY tell anyone my former user name. Some try to trap me with it. I tell them...YEP..that was me! I changed it (when the mods opened the window) to match another closed forum so people would know me from there.

They seem perplexed at their lack of successful troll-fare.

Over the last week, many of us here on the Zone have heard something like this a number of times: “If you don’t like how the Cowboys are run, just go to another team. It’s Jerry’s right as owner to do whatever he wants, and if you don’t like it, leave”. I would like to address this idea.

What is often overlooked in this genre of response to our frustration is that people are not fans of a team for logical reasons. We are not choosing our football team like we would if we were buying a commodity which is the same everywhere you get it. We are emotionally aligned with our team for a number of reasons.

I, and many of us here on the zone, follow the Cowboys because of what they represented in their past. At their best they are quintessentially American. For those of us from North Texas and the surrounding states, the Cowboys are also part of our culture.

My grandmother who lives in the tiny Oklahoma town where Troy Aikman was raised brought me to the Dallas Cowboys. It is quite simply a part of me. I cannot just up and leave and neither can most of us here. The Cowboys are family for many of us and preserve the memories of those long gone who also rode with the star. I’m sure many here have similar stories.

So no, we cannot just go find another team.

What they have become and how this organization is managed is nothing we can be proud to associate with. What it has come to represent in its modern form is disgusting. It is deeply painful to see the franchise we love and its storied history be cheapened and erased by decades of nothing short of a circus directed by a man who cares for nothing but himself.

Do you understand now?
I don’t think I can switch teams. So, I’m going to switch sports. I’ll still follow JMU football and also cheer for whoever plays Liberty.

Go Mavs!

I’m a Dallas Cowboys fan through and through, have been since 1964!
I’m still as proud of them as I was when I became a fan.
I roll with them through thick and thin, yeah I get frustrated, hate losing but it’s sports you win and you lose.
Teams have cycles where they win and lose, the trick is to win more than you lose, although we haven’t won the SB for a long time, we’re still winning more than we lose.
Still a great organization run by great people!
In all the years that has passed how many teams has passed us in rings, 2.
I say stop whining people and enjoy the games our time will come back around we’re too great of an organization to not get back to the very top again, contrary to popular belief we are not far off.
Stop being a prisoner of the moment and letting the media paint your picture of the team.
It’s okay to be frustrated, upset, take 5 minutes and have your pity party then get ready for the next game, or season.
I love watching the games period, I don’t like to lose but I understand that we have to at some point.

No they wouldn't. Why? Because they can and they don't.
