Oh whats even more boggling is taking out Dez on those short yardage situations. Giving the defense a big hint were going to run the ball.
I absolutely do not understand this at all.

If you put Dez on the field, that automatically means 2 defenders are committing to the pass. Even if he's just a distraction, he's more valuable than another blocker.

It's embarrassing. I was watching with a couple buddies who are Packers fans, and they thought I was brilliant because I called the plays that they would run in the first quarter drive that ended with the INT. But no, I was easily guessing what plays they were going to run (and fail at) since it's the same thing they've always done. I'm sure any competent defensive coordinator knew this also.

I happened to turn on the Sunday Nighter as the Pats were lining up for a 1st and goal at the 2. They had four receivers out wide, and then they ran it in, with two of the closer receivers going into the middle of the field to help block the safety's. Seeing that made me realize how far behind we are in the coaching and game planning department. Our own idiotic coaches can't even realize how awful we are on one (very important) down and distance and try to change things up

But let's not forget GB's McCarthy took the play calling away from his OC this game. So.... other teams have issues too.

I also saw on a 3rd and 1 that our RB ran into the pile instead of to the day light.....Some of it is just execution.

Yes, you're right. We should be totally cool with 4-9

Because being OK with losing and being routinely embarrassed makes you a true fan

our 4-9 standing has more to do with the front office then the play calling.

yet everyone wants the front office to fire the head coach and play caller.

Garret's whole philosophy is beating the man across from you. Like it was for Jimmy. Problem is Jimmy made it happen.
What player wanted to fail and face Jimmy or Parcells for that matter? Who's afraid to get off the field and face clapper?

I dot have any stas to back this up, but dez bryant must play less snaps than any other WR1 in football on a per game basis- guy is on the sideline for like 30 percent of our
Offensive plays.

Agreed. I kept looking and seeing him standing on the sideline while Whitehead or Street were out there. The 2nd possession that started on the one had me shaking my head because I knew it meant a jumbo package. Sure enough it was damn near a safety. The 2nd down play Dez was in and got his 9 yards. That would have been a great first down play. Of course at 3rd and one they take Dez out again, trot out a jumbo package and as usual fail miserably.

It is his design. Linehan just works here. It doesn't matter what plays he calls if the design is weak to begin with.

It would be shocking if we all knew the real truth about how much Romo's improvisation and tweaking mattered.

Of course, nobody will ever say that, but when you have two separate and distinct QBs have the same results, it is not them. Nor the playcalling either.

The only problem I have with the playcalling is we have so many tendencies and we stick to them series after series and game after game.

He has garbage to pick from but he doesn't have to be so predictable.

This has been an issue with Garret's offense back to 2008. It's not new.

He got fired as a playcaller because he had no clue how to bring balance but his scheme still remains.

IMO they stuck with the scheme because they were worried about Dez learning something new.

The Pats and every other team spread it out and run the ball. And when they don't you don't have to look any further then Green Bay today. They lined up in Jumbo and sent the tightends out and had a wide open touchdown. Yet Garrett insists on lining up in Jumbo and running left.

specially with our OL. spreading it out, would give our OL the advantage.

Add to the 3rd and 1 ineptitude, consistantly running routes a yard short on 3rd and longs.

that one is bad coaching. on a come back route yesterday, Williams ran 10 yards, came back 2 and caught the ball. a yard short of first down. he should run 12, 13 and come back to the ball and get a first down. that's on HC, WR Coach, OC.

Great. Now Dez is the Fall Guy for the Offensive Scheme. Just blame Jerry for everything so it is not so complicated in my mind. I grew up with the HC being the blame for the Game Day Product on the field. Now everybody is accountable but the HC. I should have been a HC in the NFL.

The problem that I have with Garrett's approach is that it's predicated on having the best talent and that talent winning their matchup. He doesn't do anything schematically to put that talent at an advantage (like running out of a 4 wide set) on a 3rd and 1. Last year was successful because we were relatively injury free and even though the defense wasn't stellar the offense controlled the ball and the team, as a whole, played well. The problem with Garrett is if anything is out of whack, (injury to key players, a shutdown cb that doesn't need help to cover Dez) he has no plan B. It's time for him to go, matter of fact, hye never should have been hired in the first place.

Honestly the only time I felt like Garret and co. had a game plan was in the Seattle game last year. They bottled up Wilson, making him use his arm rather than his feet, and the zone and man schemes confused him. Beyond that, exactly what you said. Beat your man.... if not, keep trying...because I have no other counter

The coaches act as if the players are good enough to just go out there and win matchups and the opponent cant do anything about it.

Falls in line with the idea that this staff cant get anything more out of a team than what it actually is.

Garrett isn't going anywhere. Jerry wont hire a real coach that would demand certain things. Not gonna happen.

Lucky Whitehead taking the field on most running plays is absolutely mind boggling

even better....bringing LW in motion back towards the line, also bringing the defender for that middle run...just awesome play design!!

My biggest concern in losing Murray was exactly this. No one to pick up tough yardage on 3rd down

If they lined up in jumbo, and ran that misdirection pitch to the outside again, it would probably be a walk in TD. It's worked every time they have used it, so they never use it.
