Personally, I think this is a great idea.

High performing teams are constantly looking for an edge, a nuanced activity or skill to differentiate themselves from there competition. It is not unusual to look for inspiration from other industries.

The petrochemical sector (in which I worked) looked extensively at the airline industry and the US nuclear navy for insights on their remarkable safety and efficiency records (yes, you can joke about the airline industry but overall, it is one of the safest large-scale, risky industries in the world).

A key to success, though is how do you translate that "feel good" session with the Navy SEALs into long-term sustained performance.

I applaud Dak and the team for doing this.

I’m not satisfied with Dak’s level. Stated it many times. However, the anti-Dak and “everything he does sucks” schtick is past tired. So old. Micah got into boxing, meditation, and pickleball to improve. There’s probably many other examples of players trying to get better. Im guessing the other examples wouldn’t be met with skepticism.

The guy is trying to improve the team’s mental readiness, and I’m guessing, camaraderie. I can’t even imagine what he could do in prep for the season that wouldn’t generate the tired schtick.

I think those jumping to defend Dak incessantly and starting pro-Dak troll threads are fragile, but so are the critics doing the same. It’s tired. It’s impossible to avoid it too, because it’s brought into non-Dak threads as well. No doubt you will continue to be allowed to water down these football threads, but if you are punished for it, it would be well-deserved.

Anything they can do to help be better is always good. Injuries, weather, coaching, officiating, and even sickness like the flu will influence the outcome of every game, good or bad. But putting in the work to stay positive and to come out on top is believing and trusting each other.

They aren't going to go 20 and 0 this season but 1st getting to the playoffs is key and being as healthy as possible then is imperative.

Unfortunately we have a lot of fans that seem to be only interested in the negative of anything of the Cowboys from Jones to Dak to most players to salary cap issues to who they draft. You can disagree or have criticism about a player or front office but never being the least bit positive, well then you really aren't a fan.

Dak and his “marketing agent”…. So basically it’s a PR thing, that’s useless in the context of football.

Also, the Seals go through rigorous training for years to make them handle high-pressure situations that they encounter regularly in their operations. If you put a Navy Seal out on the football field, he’d probably “panic” himself as he wouldn’t know what to do against the an NFL scheme.

Exactly... Why would you need your marketing guy at the meeting? Notice how Gallup in the article sells it as "this is what they got after 1 meeting with Dak?", as if the Seals came to be motivated by Dak and not the other way around. This is ultimately about developing "brand image" and being sold as a leader. Gallup should learn a lesson from the Cooper stint here, as no amount pf practing football Dak's backyard could compensate for the "the black Kirk Cousins". They started blaming Cooper for not living up to his money.

So we've now moved on to Dak's having his WRs bond in his backyard. They went from practicing and run routes, not only proving how much more of a leader he is than Romo, to calling on former Navy Seals for help. I sure miss the says when they used to talk about how he went to QB camp to work on his faulty mechanics. Might as well try something other than football. Maybe next season, thetre will be an article of how Dak and his marketing guy will be consulting oracles to improve on reading defenses.

Interesting how whether it's this stunt or when Dak was 'training' with players in his backyard field there always seems to be a reporter around to take photos for documentation.

I think it's both to be honest. It's part PR and they think it would actually help. The problem with this approach is people that want to be Navy Seals are also weeded out. Not everybody can become a Navy Seal. Dak has peaked and no amount of gimmicks like this can improve his processing speed and ability to read defenses at year 8, otherwise he would have already shown these talents for stretches. These types of qualities are genetically there from the beginning.

Good read.

That was a good read and sort of brought my mind back to my Army Ranger days of training. I remember a drill where we had to scale a 15 foot wooden fence, over and over and over and over until it got nerve racking, but it drove a point home to me and others that even if you are successful, do it over and over and over again...then run 8 miles until chow.

I don't know how this will have an effect on the team, but it's amazing what your mind can overcome in the heat of a firefight.
