Just to play devil's advocate... Everybody is comparing Romo to Rodgers since the Packers went from one of the best teams in the NFL to one of the worst with Rodgers out. They're also using past seasons such as the Broncos with Tebow and Patriots with Cassell to discredit the amount of "value" Peyton and Brady have. Well, remember a few years ago when the Cowboys started 1-7 with Romo and finished 5-3 with Kitna? Where does that information fit into your argument?

It fits the argument that football is a team game with 11 men on the field at one time and a roster of 53 players with 45 suited up game day.

Good point. But then that disproves the argument people are making about Aaron Rodgers being so vital to his team. People are saying the Packers can't win a game without Rodgers, while the Broncos and Patriots won a lot (but not as many) without Manning and Brady. Well, the Cowboys won more without Romo. I'm not bashing Romo. I'm just saying that the whole "well, the Broncos went 9-7 with Tebow" argument is pointless, unless you want to admit Kitna is better than Romo.

I would have rolled my eyes. :)

I saw essentially the same interview on TV today.

He admitted Romo has a history or blowing his chances and even given that..he was sayin Romo got his nod.

I too was surprised. Said his last two games were very good and he has the experience to elevate the team.

It was timely for Romo to get some love from ESPN. for sure.

Let'see if it goes to Romo's head and he dumps a bad game like New Orleans.

That's his normal thing at this point in the season.

All of a sudden we can't score more than 14-17 points a game and everything just unravels..including Romo.

If its going to happen..

this coaching staff is going to have to open up the offense

and let Romo come out firing from the first snap.

Fat chance.

Most people will acknowledge it's very difficult to win big without a good QB. It happens without one at times but not much. You need a QB, a good offense and a good pass defense and decent run defense. You need some STs plays and turnovers, breaks, good bounces, big plays and luck to win a SB. It's a team game but you need all the ingredients to bake a good cake.

All I heard about Manning after that loss to the Patriots was that he has a noodle arm these days.

That noodle arm is going to break the NFL record for TD passes barring some freak happening.

Don't confuse on-pace with likely-to-break. Brady also had 41 TDs with 4 games to go in 2007 as well. A little bad weather and some wind can go a long way.

He's always had a NFL arm but I said multiple times, right or wrong, he was impressive and he threw some ugly ones at times. I could be wrong but it looks like he's throwing the ball better this year and his mechanics look better. Unless he's injured he'll get the record.

Good point. Let's put it this way, I think he will break it with a week to spare.

It'll take a lot to convince the Romo naysayers to do an about face. They've been pounding him verbally for so long now that they'd be forced to admit they may have been seriously mistaken about Romo. Most would prefer to fail to acknowledge what they're seeing at present rather than do that. Like any other QB, poor protection has been a key element in downgrading his fortunes. It's infinitely easier to blame one guy than a handful.

Guys, haven't you figured out Romo's MO already? It's been the same for the past 8 years.

Great stats, will win a ton of games ... but with the most important game on the line, and the most crucial moment ... he will falter. Same old same old.

For Romo to be considered him and his team need to run the table.

Mind you, if Herm discounted Romo's play like he and others have done in the past he'd be a idiot who only watches the bad plays and has no idea of Romo's real value.

That said, Tony is having a great dink and dunk season, and will put up great stats. However, if you really want to see a stat look at Tony passes traveling in the air more than 20 yds and you'll see why defenses don't have to defend the deep area and can be aggressive against the run. But hey, lets enjoy the moment.
