1992 Cowboys:
Irvin, 78 catches for 1396 yards and 7 TD

Every other Cowboys wide receiver combined: 67 catches for 921 yards and 7 TD

How was Aikman able to win in the playoffs with that lack of depth at WR??
#1 defense, and arguably the greatest OL and RB ever?

Gallup will probably be better a year removed from surgery, but we definitely shouldn't just count on that. We need to get a complement for Lamb and if Gallup returns to form then we're that much better off for it.
Agree. We need a top #2. Gallup is not a top 15 second WR. He was the classic “we like our guys and we would rather overpay a Cowboy than a free agent” signing.

Not necessarily. What's needed is more diversity in the offense. Dak has other weapons; he needs to use them. Despite the yards and points per game, this offense is very limited
The other receivers has the least separation of and playoff team in the divisional round. They simply aren’t very good.

disagree, he is at that price as a 2..
They paid him like a 2, because he’s one of our guys. But he’s a jag. I see 3 or 4 receivers on every team in the playoffs as good as Gallup. We really need some speed at WR. Or size.

The James Washington pickup was a complete disaster, he had a total of ONE target...

I didn't mind the Gallup re-signing, but I just didn't think it should come at the expense of cutting Cooper, especially with Gallup coming off ACL surgery. I thought we should restructure Cooper and use the extra to re-sign either Gallup or Wilson. You've got to have more than two competent receivers in the NFL these days and Dallas put most of its eggs in the James Washington basket to both be the No. 3 and step up as the No. 2 with Gallup out, when Washington had not proven he could do that.

They treat every draft as if every pick is going to pan out, and also be able to play immediately.

They are about due to bust a first rounder anyway, and picking for need in every round will end up biting them before long as well.

If they want to win, they will be more active in FA…..the early part. If they still think what they’ve been doing works, well that wouldn’t surprise me at all.
I can't see the Joneses thinking that they or their philosophy is the problem.

Cooper wasn’t let go for the money. But everything else is spot on.

You know, I didn't really have a problem with giving Washington a try. Some players do break through with a new team. My problem was absolutely having to count on him doing that, which is what we did. When it failed, we didn't really have a backup plan for making our receiving corps as strong as it could be. I give the team at least some credit for trying with Hilton once it figured out that Washington wasn't going to come through.

I agree.

And while I find it nice that Jerry and kid are silent for a change, they would be all over the place if they didn’t get smacked yet again.

Cowards. They should stay in whatever hole they crawled into.

Cooper was let go because they were paying No. 1 receiver money to him and didn't feel he was worth that for various reasons. I agree that he wasn't. But he was worth the $5 million or so that they would have been paying him with a restructure.

You may not agree that it was because of the money, but that's what Jerry said. Everything else is just speculation.

While making an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Jerry Jones talked about the trade and the reasoning behind it. He said that Cooper's contract was the main reason behind trading the talented wide receiver.

He went on to say that Cooper is a very good player and that what he does on the field isn't the reasoning behind trading him.

“The issue with Amari Cooper was how much we were paying him, and what we could do with that money. Completely. Amari Cooper is a real good player. Top player.”

And I feel for those who make up their own narrative or read into things what they want to see.

There were multiple issues with Cooper.

We paid him to be a No. 1 receiver and he didn't play up to that level.

He missed too much playing time because of injuries and other reasons.

His approach to the game is laid-back so it makes it look like he doesn't care at times.

And you could probably throw more in there. How much of a role most of those things played hasn't been said. Could be a little. Could be a lot. But bottom line is if we hadn't been paying him $20 million, we wouldn't have cut him.

Yeah you can feel however you want but doesn’t change the facts of what I said about you. I know how this goes esp online because people are sensitive and can’t stand being criticized since they’re sooo perfect they have to come back with a similar response. Shrugs but yours doesn’t even fit to be honest. Didn’t make up nothing went exactly by your own post unless you have a ghostwriter writing your post.

As far as Cooper and all these “multiple” issues have been a thing but now it’s a problem? Like I said you’re a naive person my friend.

You've pretty much said nothing of substance. I've provided information for why Cooper was cut. All you've done is try to insult me. Maybe that's just all you've got.

Jerry Jones didn't say money was the only reason Cooper was traded, but he did say it was the main reason. You don't believe him? Then, provide solid evidence for your belief, not speculation.

Here's another quote from Jones where he addresses some of those other reasons, but again notice that it comes back to money:

“We lost three really highly profile players,” Jones said. “Those players were in the top 10 of our players that make the most money. When you get into that spot, I can tell you, your standards go up. Your bar is higher, your conduct is higher, your attention to the team is higher, not just your own performance but everything.

“Those decisions were made more about the availability than ability and they were made as to how you arrive at not being unavailable at times.”

Emmitt, the GOAT. We have Zeke, the Low Key Faded. Huge difference.
