Harper in 92: 35 catches 562 yards 4 TD

Noah Brown this year: 43 catches 555 yards 3 TD

Novacek in 92: 68, 630, 6 TD
Schultz in 2022: 57, 577, 5 TD

Pretty comparable #s all the way around from the #2 wr and TE spot

Honestly I do think novacek was underappreciated and probably a better TE than Schultz.

I think Harper was overrated by virtue of the fact the cowboys were a top team and also he benefitted from playing with a guy like Aikman who could fit the ball into windows that few people can. Tampa Bay probably agrees. They picked him up with the intent of making him a #1 wr and he pretty much disappeared. After leaving Dallas Harper had 3 touchdown receptions the rest of his entire career. Total. 3

That was Aikmans #2 in 1992. A guy who scored 3 TD total after leaving Dallas. Let that sink in. Troy elevated those around him. He's underappreciated IMHO
pretty comparable numbers in two different era's.....this year top passing offense had 5000+ yards, in 1992, top passing offense had 4000 yards. that's 25% difference. in fact 9 teams this year had more passing yards than the top team in 1992.
those numbers for brown tell me how much he sucked. and how much schultz sucked. in this day and age,

Don't know how Troy elevated Harper when he was nothing but a bus driver. That's what I've been told. Novacek was much better than Schultz. Actuality you can trace the Cowboys decline to about the time he got hurt. That's when the Cowboys offense started to go down Hill. Novacek was Aikman's security blanket. I still don't think much of Schultz and Brown. They aren't why we lost Sunday though. We could have had Jerry Rice out on that field and Dak would't have been able to get the ball to him.

This could also be coming from the QB only looking at 1 receiver most of the time and defenses picking up on it. That would account for many of the INT's too.

Makes you wonder how different this offense would have been this season if they could have kept him on the roster.

Nope, Dak has NEVER hyper targeted a wr. This year blew away any past record he had for one wr being target dominant.

Now if you look at yards of separation CD is somewhere below the top 25 or so and both Noah and Gallup are ranked 120th ISH.

This is why we needs more talent/better scheming.

1992 Cowboys:
Irvin, 78 catches for 1396 yards and 7 TD

Every other Cowboys wide receiver combined: 67 catches for 921 yards and 7 TD

How was Aikman able to win in the playoffs with that lack of depth at WR??
Run game!!!!!

I knew this coming into the season. Sadly, they never put in the effort to develop any of the guys they had on the roster. I thought we had some good prospects that apparently just never rose to the occasion, so, yeah, I agree they need to address the WR situation this year. It would be ideal to have Hilton back next year at the start of the season, as well as drafting a guy who can go immediately and/or adding a vet who fits the offense.

Exactly, the goal is not to have a pro bowler at every position, is to play effective football. With this QB having two 1k yds WR and double digit TDs is almost impossible. Also we rely a lot in the TE and running game for scoring.

If we had kept AC numbers would be a bit better but not by that much.
And yet, still, he would have disappeared in away games.

But did you know that we would still finish with B2B 12win seasons and make the 2nd round??

No you didn't, you were one of the bunch with similar take on the offseason, FA, saying we would be 8-9 or worse than dak going down saying no way we would get to 7 wins..

Ironic all this i knew it nonsense with continued negativity and hate on here after our last loss, It doesn't include how we have won more games in the last 2 regular seasons, than any team in the NFL. Somehow with all these allegedly bad deals and bad moves we are still a top 6 team in the league. Crazy huh...?;)

right lets blow it up we are desperate.

and yes
Gallup will be better with a full TC and 18 months removed from acl surgery, I cant guarantee it but my gut says he will be a lot more effective this coming season.
If Gallup gets back to his pre injury form he’s still no good enough.

You can’t compare numbers from two different eras.
yes, you actually can if you have an open mind, those payers were in fact on better teams surrounded by HOF so in Essense was easier to get those yards,. But you do not call Gallup not good enough if hes back to a 700-900 yard 2?? and Noah was as productive as ced and cheaper and pays STs does the dirty work blocks etc. he did good job for what he was asked to do.,

we can't afford Dalton but hes a very good player, steady and solid., Furgeson will take his place and maybe has more upside.

Run game!!!!!
OL and OC is where that went south. We had good run game a top run game during most of the RS, it became tough when steel went out , peters couldn't play much and Tyron was older , Biadsz was banged uop and Mcgovern not physical enough, then pollard goes down before the half and we dont even try Davis.

16 runs, ughh Moore!!!

HOF OL and RB and coaches is why Troy was able to be so efficient, even so 165 tds and 144 iNTs not that impressive given all that talent :)

Stats don't say that

Sorry

As I noted in post above Harper left Dallas to go be a #1 and scored 3; TD the rest of his entire career.

3

Total.
How many do you think Noah Brown will score for another team? My guess is 10 in the CFL

I always love the segment of fans who say dak sucks (not agree or disagreeing just observing) then get mad when people suggest to get more wide receivers/weapons…..if the quarterback sucks shouldn’t we want as many threats as possible to help the guy out and make his job as simple as possible?

The rebuttal “he’s got enough help he just sucks “….ok I agree, he’s not an elite top tier quarterback but he’s also not going anywhere anytime soon sooooo again why not stack his roster the best we can
This bs sounds like a strawman poster that doesn’t account for most. Keep beating on them easy bums champ. Dak is trash and probably makes the wr look worse than they could be with a better qb. Who isn’t for more WR? Most say Dak needs alllllllll the help but his salary is a hindrance to that.

Dak basically targets who his early read is. That’s why he consistently sucks against zone coverages, unless it’s soft prevent and he’s outside the pocket.
