Traded texts with Dez. His tweet is a reaction this this column, not about actual negotiations: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2143743-should-dallas-cowboys-pay-dez-bryant-like-a-top-5-wide-receiver…

I think Dez is a top 5 caliber WR but I also hope Dallas gets back to their old ways like when Irvin wanted Jerry Rice money, Jones told Mike to put up Rice numbers and he would get it and Mike did and Jerry paid as such, he did the same with Emmitt when Emmitt wanted Barry Sanders money.
Hmmm not exactly. Emmitt held out for two games which they lost because they didn't have Emmitt. When Jerry came into the locker room to address the team, Haley threw his helmet at Jerry but missed and punctured a hole on the wall. He yelled out "pay him!". Thus Emmitt's deal was signed.
Yikes!

Thats what Ben Rogers says.. The way Dez worded things didn't seem like a response to an article though..
That just sounds like something his agent told him to do. Bet it goes back up when the extension is signed.
An extension for Dez Bryant is about the surest thing going in the league right now. He's the face of this franchise, Irvin re-incarnated, and he's good and he's young. There's no way Jerry lets him leave, and no way he's going to want to play anyplace else. A career-ending injury is the only way his deal doesn't eventually end up getting done. (knock on @Wood).

No way I give Dez 14m+ a year. I would go somewhere around 5/60m. Play out the Romo years, but if that isn't enough, tag him and start drafting/looking for replacements or even a trade.

Yes.
Dez was 13th in the league in receiving yards last year. Keep in mind, that was only about 190 yards from #5 AJ Green.
However, he was 2nd among WRs in TDs with 13.
I realize TDs fluctuate more than yards from year to year and are less predictable, but 13 TDs is a ton.
I'd never hire you as a GM.
I didn't know I interviewed for your Pee-Wee team.
I agree. Bryant's popularity is growing by leaps and bounds among NFL fans. He may eventually unseat Jones and Romo. However, that time will only become true when Bryant's face literally starts to dominate sports stories, television promos, game lead-ins, etc.I don't think Dez is the face of the franchise. Unfortunately I think that would be Jerry. Romo probably on the player side. I like Dez a lot though. He's just not the face of the team to me.
