one thing u guys seem to miss is what reggie brings to his offense. Reggie is a part of what everyone else manages to do as well. Whenever he is on the field teams have to account for him. The maurice jones drew comparison is way unfair because theres no way teams gameplanned for drew the same way they gameplanned for reggie in his rookie year. I think more teams gameplan centered on bush this year than maybe any rookie ive ever seen.

Defenses did not center their gameplan on Bush. They tried to stop McCallister and Brees.

There have been several rookies that received a lot more attention from defenses their rookie years than Bush did this season. Earl Campbell, Eric Dickerson, Dan Marino and Randy Moss are just a few of them.

i love celebrations....like butch johnson shooting his guns.....the skins fun bunch....the givens electric slide....the ickey shuffle...etc.

I hate when people dance after every freakin play...like a tackle after a 3 yd gain.

Ok I can see celebrating after a sack, safety, turnover, or TD if you are the defense....but not on normal tackles and such. It's dumb and a waste of time.

On offense, I don't mind endzone celebrations at all.....I like them, even the staged ones from TO, Horn, Ocho Cinco, etc....

However, when you are losing....dont taunt the opponent. When you have all the momentum in a close game, dont taunt the opponent. You taunt a man or group of men on their home turf.....and they will find a way to make you pay....

Bush should have saved his celebrations for the New Orleans crowd......not at Chicago.....

I dont care what you say....NO had all the momentum until that stupid Bush taunting........immediately after, the Chicago Bears onslaughted the Saints for 23 unanswered points.

were you even watching that game? New Orleans still drove the ball down their throats from the 18 to the 30 after that..it was a missed FG and a safety (a result of Sean paytons bad playcalling) that turned the momentum clearly. The saints missed a fg that wouldve gave them the lead after bush's play. I think its hilarious people are tryin to pin new orleans loss on one of the only people on their team that made a play that day.

I would say the safety changed the game against the Bears. Chicago gets the 2 points and the ball in which they were able to score again. I agree Bush was one of the few bright spots in the game for the Saints.

interesting point but ive watched the saints a lot this year (region im in sucks) and if the guy got the rushing touches he would have broke 1000 on rushing alone this year easy. His YPC are bad but mostly from the beginning of the season. Running backs need rhythm, and carries over the course of the whole game. Reggie would sometimes go a whole half without a carry.
I think hes a future hall of famer and if deuce gets traded i think hell have a few years where he breaks 2k total yards.

wow..funny how opinions vary so greatly. i dont think he has what it takes to be a every down back. I dont think he will ever be a thousand yard back.

lol yea. turned out to be an interesting discussion with many different viewpoints. the only viewpoint i dismiss is that reggie bush cost the saints the nfc champ game.

Emmitt was as short, kinda stocky back with more smarts then athletic ability. I'm not saying Emmitt wasn't athletic. He is one of the most underrated backs ever as far as how good an athlete he was. You don't play 15 years in the NFL and be just an average athlete. But he was able to see the field and he was so smart with the football.

Reggie Bush is kinda tall and skinny and one of the best athletes you'll see in the NFL. But he doesn't have half the smarts Emmitt had.

the day after the game, there were several stories about how Bush got the D fired up; and it is true. The saints did put together a good drive, but you could SEE the Bears D come to life and start to really hit and put in the effort. And that was due to Bush.
Bush is NOT as good as Westbrook or Faulk at his peak or any of the other top scatbacks like them. A LOT of what is said about him is HYPE. everytime he makes a big play the mediots ignore the 5 other plays where he did little.
Now he might put it together and make it to the top- but he is NOT there now. ANd frankly, comparing him to Sayers is a JOKE right now.

I like Bush but see him more as a utility player (Kick return, punt returns receiving and rushing) in my opinion he is not the same type of back as a Smith or in today’s NFL Tomlinson

I agree. Eric Metcalf type player. Only better.

I can name you two rookies, who have proven more this season, then Reggie, and one of them is in the SB

Joseph Addai, and Jones-Drew

Addai, got 1000 yards, without starting a single game. He score not 2 or 3, but 4 TD's agianst Phili, with extended playing time.

Jones-Drew was the single reason why the Jags, almose beat the Pats, and why the Jags even had a winning season.

Jones-Drew and Addai, are some of the best young RB's out there.

Reggie May be able to go out and catch a flare pass, and run a screen for a TD, but Like in the Phili game, when the defense sniffs the play out, its Lights out for Reggie.

You Reggie lovers can say all you want about him, but in the end, Addai, Jones-Drew, will be having productive careers while reggie is gonna be a poor man's Barry Sanders

I would agree. I do think it is early enough in Bush career that he could become more than just that. We are talking a rookie and I expect he will bulk up some and work to increase his lower body. I think if he does that then he has a chance to be more

It is hard to know what kind of player he will develope into but I try to keep an open mind knowing that through hard work Bush has a chance to be more than what he showed as a rookie.
