So coming to a team with an awful QB and a broken Offense is going to improve him?
Let me preface this by saying I'm not a big fan of this move, knowing the glaring needs of this team today, and moving forward. I can't help bit wonder what type of RB or DL we could've picked up with that 4th.
I don't see this as a move for today. Mingo has tremendous, untapped potential. Carolina is a dumpster fire. I'm not a Dak supporter and I've spoken at length as to why he shouldn't be retained...but he's light years ahead of Young, and any other QB they have on that team. Up until this season, the Dallas offense has been excellent, numbers wise, and Dak was an MVP candidate last season. To compare Mingo's previous situation to what he's walking into isn't being honest.
I don't know why he isn't producing this season, but Carolina benched Young in favor of an ancient Andy Dalton. That tells me all I need to know about the state of their personnel department, talent development, and coaching in general. They've been really bad for awhile so either their scouts suck, they can't develop talent, they have no idea how to put their players in a position to succeed, or all of the above. Our scouts were high on this kid, and despite all of the faults of our team, I trust our guys way more than the team in Carolina. If they think they can make something out of him, I'm fine with rolling the dice, even if a 4th hurts, and it's not a glaring, immediate need.
