You really should look up the rest of his articles. If you're ever wanting something negative on the Cowboys, he's the man to look for. I wouldn't say he's a hater, but he definitely leans that direction.

I used to think he was an idiot. But then I figured out that this was his schtick, and he's actually pretty funny (at least, I think so).

But then again, I could be overthinking it - maybe he is an idiot.

. Has Campbell's rise been as meteoric as Romo's? No, but he's steadily improving,

No, he's not... at the start of the season, he had three rather bad efforts, which resulted in a quarterback rating of 69.6... then he had his best game of the season, against the Lions, putting up a rating of 125.3...

He followed that career effort up with 4 more bad to awful games, which resulted in a quarterback rating of 65.4... it could be argued that those 4 games represent the worst 4 game stretch in his 17 games as a starter...

Then came the last two games, better statistically but each marred by critical turnovers on his part late in the game... well, I don't call 3 bad games, 1 good game, 4 bad games, 2 good games "steadily improving"...

He isn't even all that improved from last year:

Quarterback rating-- 2007, 80.7; 2006, 76.5...

Yards per attempt-- 2007, 6.6; 2006, 6.3...

TDs to ints-- 2007, 11-8; 2006, 10-6...

That ain't what you'd call a quantum leap forward...

and playing better than a heck of a lot of QBs in the league.

There might be 10, maybe 12 quarterbacks in the league that he's playing better than...

He's 20th in quarterback rating... 24th in completion percentage... 17th in yards per game... 24th in yards per attempt...

A top 20 QB, he's not... and since there are only 32 teams in the league, that means he's not a good NFL starting QB... not yet...

Bear... you're saying exactly what I've been thinking about Campbell.

Seriously, all stats aside... I remember bad QB's like Ryan Leaf, Quincy Carter, Joey Harrington, Patrick Ramsey... and they all had decent stretches and decent games where fans thought they were seeing improvement.

Heck, I remember announcers of games going off about how good so-and-so is looking and how he's really taking a step up... and then they really don't ever take a step up. They just keep playing mediocre and losing games.

A good QB, first and foremost, wins games. They find a way to lead their team to victory. To snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, so to speak. Every good QB can do that. They perform under pressure and don't fold like a cheap suit.

Campbell, while he's thrown the occasional nice pass, and had the occasional nice game... simply continues to blow up under pressure, and continues to make critical, game killing mistakes at crucial times.

There is just something missing from his game and it's very hard to define it... just like Romo has that extra something that is hard to define. Campbell just plays like a guy who isn't going to ever be a good QB. Decent? Maybe. Like a Dilfer, at best. His accuracy is off and he's slow to read. Give him wide open guys like we did on Sunday and he'll hit them and make pretty quick decisions. Give him some tough choices and no max protection and expect him to beat the blitz with a quick decision? Oh boy... I wouldn't.

Clearly, neither would Gibbs. He may not be a very good coach anymore... but he's not an idiot. He sees Campbell in practice every day and knows he better give him few choices and a lot of protection.

Anyway... it seems pretty clear from watching him (yes, I too have seen an awful lot of him) that he's making some decent throws but is lacking in too many places to ever be a lot more than a journeyman.

It took this clown till week 9 to find his WRs for a TD......WEEK 9!!!

With Moss and Randle El, he took 9 friggin weeks to throw a TD to a WR, and neither of those guys even caught a TD till they played us. It was Thrash who caught all 3 TD passes last week, but he got hurt. Moss finally found the end zone against us.

JC impressed me with 1 pass....the one handed catch by Moss over a tight covering Reeves. That was a great pass. Other than that one, all his other passes were to wide open WRs and TEs. Our zone was softer than the Pillsbury Doughboy.

there you go again using stats to 'prove' your point. Once agains stats dont show the entire picture.

Romo has had statistically some of the worst QB performances i've ever seen. He has made atrocious decisions in the past you know it. I've seen Romo throw picks and people look around like what did he just do?

Romo's worst game is 10x worse than JC's worst game, but look how romo turned out, he's good now.

All of the talking heads on espn (mostly former NFL players)Dan Marino, Steve Young,Sean Salisbury,Troy Aikman, Jimmy Johnson some of the biggest names associated with the NFL have nothing but praise for JC.

They dont look at stats and go 'well his completition percentage is this so he's not good"

None of those former NFL players (safe to assume they know a tad bit more than you about football) share your opinion.

I could compile some stats that would make Romo look like sht but i wont do that cause i know Romo is a good player and stats dont show the entire picture.

I'm finished on this topic, I"m not going to change your opinion and that's fine. My advice to you is to take 'stats' with a grain of salt. Stats show that JC lost to GB and had a bad day throwing the ball, but if you watched the game he had an excellent day throwing the ball. they literally had 8 dropped passes that game, nowhere in the 'stats' does it show that.

See ya buddy, btw i love the way those 'boys are playing this year

I think it is still a bit early in Campbell career to know what kind of QB he will become. Not all players develop at the same pace and I don't think he has played enough games to know for sure what he will or will not do in his career.
