What's everybody's preference? My iPhone 6s went for a swim with me this weekend. So, I went down and checked out some phones. I've enjoyed my iPhone but I must say, the Samsung Galaxy S8 was impressive. Beautiful resolution and the camera took excellent pictures. I'm starting to think about getting it. It just sucks that all my cords everywhere (work, home) are all iPhone lightning cables. lol

I've just had 4 iPhones now and the iOS they run on, while solid, have pretty much been all the same. It wouldn't really feel like getting a "new" phone if I grabbed an iPhone 7.

Just looking for opinions! Thanks!

Ford and Chevy. Biggest issue is one can have storage added to it by you the other requires paying a premium and hoping its enough. Beyond that I find both phones are good for what they do. For the record I am an android user, my first two smart phones were apples then switched to samsung Note 2. now I have Samsung S8+ 64GB unlocked version with 256GB microSD card.

Yeah that is another awesome feature, to be able to expand your memory.

Beyond that pretty much both have access to the same mainstream apps. I think the only plus with the iphone is that you can carry stuff over to an Apple PC much easier.

I prefer Google phones. They work with all carriers and they come with vanilla android and none of the bloatware that you get with other manufacturers / providers.

As for Apple vs Android. Just ask yourself. Do you want a pocket knife (Apple) or a swiss army knife? (Android)

I just got the Moto G5 Plus from Best Buy. $240, and unlocked, so you can run it with any major carrier.

If you want a phone you can personalize, if you like to mess around and change things around on your phone, if you like multiple options, if you like to download multiple ring tones from zedge but don't want to hook up to itunes on computer to transfer your ringtones, if you want the cheaper ability to add more storage in SD cards, If you want the ability to use drop and drag or copy and paste when moving files from phone to computer or computer to phone...go with the samsung or android.

If you want a phone that severely limits what you can change and go in and do, or you like a phone that is basically simpler to use to the point of being more of a grandparents phone vs a regular phone...go with apple.

My parents switched from a flip phone to a smart phone that happens to use android. They have NO CLUE who to use any other option other than the calander, contacts list and phone (nope not even texting). They still buy cards for minutes deals.

If they ever switch to a cell service without the cards, a regular monthly fee service...I would tell them to get an Apple phone because there would no reason for them to get an android with all that android can provide and they would have less chance to screw up the phone.

There are two main differences with android and apple....The ability (and that is starting to shrink on andriod) to have removable storage (if it does not have SD card ability it is a deal breaker for me....and the iphone is simpler and better for those that do not want to use the phone for much beyond a phone and texting. It can do much more but just not as flexible customization as an android....aka apple has turned into a grandparents phone IMO. And there is nothing wrong with that, if that is what you want.

You might want to borrow a friends older android phone and try it for a few days. Some people who have used iphones just do not translate well to android. My wife never could after trying and moved back to iphone.

I hate working on the wife's or her families Iphones when they need something changed. I am so used to android. Something as not having a back button is so hard to try and deal with when you get used to it on android but not being on Iphone...drives me crazy. Same as being able to remove multiple lists or tasks that are open at one time but I think newer IOS has worked on that.

I'm due for an upgrade. Did extensive research and found out the APPLE rules all phones. Now, I have the Samsung s5. So many bugs I can't stand it anymore. The phone cost me over $700 and it should be bug free.

Had the phone 5 months and (thank goodness I had insurance) it just died. They sent me a refurbished one immediately. So, I just spend $700 for a refurbished phone. Can't stand the Samsung, period. Also, where you plug it in underneath is very frustrating. If it's not lined up properly, you'll have a hec of a time trying to plug it in. Plus Samsung phones batteries have been known to explode. Another bug. Ugh, hate it! Going with LG next. Not into Apples. I prefer Oranges. ;)

I prefer Samsung phones. I find the Android OS easier to get around in and I feel I have more choices with it. My inexpensive Note 4 takes better photos than my mom's iPhone 7.

I steer people away from Samsung Android phones. While some of their customization are cool, most are bug riddled and trash. Not to mention they are non-standard which means when you switch phones. You're likely to lose it disrupting your expected experience.

Pure vanilla Android is the way to go and the best place to get that is straight from Google.

Thank you very much for that great input. I think I may just go that route, Google.
