Irvin was on the the Fan just now and said it's mind boggling to him why we don't use certain WR sets and formations to beat the blitz and help the receivers to get open quicker.

He said we should use bunch formation and more rub routes to help the receivers get off the line when CBs are allowed to play aggressively against our receivers.

He mentioned AZ doing this all the time to help their receivers get open and it's almost impossible to cover Dez if we employee more of these types of formations.

He also said that we don't have a "system that beats a system" type of offense like Bruce Arians and Chip Kelly has but more of "man beating man" type of offense.

This is why he feels EaGirls can let go of D. Jackson and the "system" will still function well but we need to sign Dez for the long term since we don't have a "system". I thought that was interesting take.

HE IS 100% RIGHT! I jus said in another thread that it is NOT the gameplan. It is the structure of our passing game. Our WRs went up against CBs that were just as big as they were...and the struggled to get seperation. Our passing game makes it EXTREMELY difficult on our QBs...our OL.....AND our WRs. To get guys wide open we have to have the run game working...so we can go with play action. When our run game is not working...our ENTIRE team/scheme/players can be exposed.

I mean...are we the ONLY team that cannot run a pick play? Because it is run on us ALL the time!!!!!!!!!! The great Tom Brady and Peyton Manning...they utilize it ALL the time.

You want to know how PREDICTABLE our passing game is....EVERY time the ball was directed Dez way...there were 3 Cardinals within a 3 yard radius.

A lot of the big plays we make in the passing game is Romo improvising when a play breaks down. This is NOTHING new...this has been the case for years!

What is even more shocking was the continued use of bad route combinations especially on third down. Did they not learn from last week against Washington? Irvin is 100% correct. Where were the drag routes? Crossing routes? Bunch formations? WR screens? Use of screen passes were inexplicably ignored after gashing them big with Dunbar.

Linehan isn't impressing me at all. Garrett as Head Coach should have demanded all this be used more prominently.

Most of us have been saying this for years. Teams have been nickel and diming the Cowboys defense using bunch formations and rub routes for years, but we seemingly are the only team who fails to implement these tactics offensively.

I would right now fire Garrett and make Michael Irvin the head coach. I wouldn't even hesitate. Give Irvin a good defensive coordinator like Marinelli and an offensive coordinator like Linehan. Let Irvin set the overall strategy and motivate the troops.

When Michael Irvin speaks, players listen. And I guarantee you his pressers would be watched. No BS press conferences from him.

The tendency to be predictable and overly simplistic has long been a criticism of Garrett; however, if you'll recall, Jimmy Johnson employed very simple offensive and defensive systems. If you get the talent right, simple systems are ideal for winning at any time and place regardless of circumstance. Offenses that are more systemic in nature fall victim to being figured out, and once that happens, they are virtually useless.

Having said that, I agree with Michael that there are certain things Garrett could do to make life easier on his quarterbacks.

Translation: We got outcoached and couldn't adjust. Great. :(

P.S., Irvin needs to be a coach.

P.S.S., I like the fact Irvin schooled Marshall Faulk last week. He said Marshall was out of town and off set the weeks when Dallas was winning, especially when they beat the Seahawks. But when the Cowboys started to lose, Marshall reappears on the set as a critic.

Yes. We have to incorporate some of these pick plays into our offense. If we were called for them though I may lose my mind.

Yeah, maybe.

We probably should incorporate some more of those type plays, why not.

Doesn't change the fact that guys were wide open on numerous occasions and Weeden didn't even so much as glance at them.

I've whined and cried about all of this for years since Jason Garrett has called plays.

It's just bland but our running game has helped a lot.

We see teams run natural pick plays all the time and for some reason Dallas won't use them.

That's Weeden's fault.

I know I'm not the only one who noticed Weeden staring down his first read several times yesterday. All the defense had to do was read his eyes.

Romo is really good at using his eyes to get guys open.

Is Michael Irvin calling out Garrett's crappy offense now? You know it's bizarro world when this happens...

Linehan isn't changing the offensive. The play-book and progressions are the same.

There is some merit to what Irvin says but the bottom line here folks is that Weedon was just BAD. Telegraphing. Inaccurate. Can't win games like that.

This offense had a lot of free runners to the QB last week when Romo was in. It was something we never adjusted to and I thought it was all scheme.
