Irving not playing

Skipped OTAs. Didn't work out of the offseason at the Star. Not playing tomorrow.

He may be done for good.

Hope he plays, we will need him.
Collins injured, and always seems injured. Irving not ready yet. Was hoping he could get a handful of plays in.
I know people hate him or are down on him. But he is still far better than the 53rd guy. Once he gets on the field. Probably next week.

Collins was questionable too. So if he made the trip , maybe at least will be a game time decision for him to play.
One of Irving's biggest fans and supporters here, but he should have taken care of his shitz like yesterday. Inexcusable to still be missing work today in October because of it. The only reason he's still on this roster is because of his freakish talent, but even that is starting to wear thin. You can't help your team if you don't play, you can't play if you don't practice, you can't practice if you don't show up, and you can't show up if you don't take care of your shitz at home. Should have been all taken care of already.

David Irving lost so much money because he’s an idiot.

A lot of it is that these project guys simply don't love football. That is pretty clear to me. They gotta go and I hope the organization rethinks their position on taking on these type guys. Not sure they are worth the time/resources at all. Freakish talent or not. As frustrating as it is to us, I can't imagine how bad it would be to the coaches and owners. They are masochists.

Mark Ingram

Nope. Not even close. Ingram was playing in preseason games.

You’all can’t come up with one name of a guy who missed all camp, all-pre-season and then joins the roster mid-season and is immediately ready to play.

Did anyone even expect Irving to play? One practice after missing all preseason? The chances this guy would come off suspension and be in football shape were the same as a snow balls chance in hell! And some of you wanted a first round tender on this fool.

I'd have been happy with a 6th round tender on him.

I agree.

Same thing happened to Gregory.

To me it's whatever.

Look at Gregory.

He started out quick with a sack in his first game..

nothing since.

Obviously he is out of shape and flagging after 4 games.

D Irving will do whatever he can do.

No reason to dislike the guy.

No reason to dislike Irving, the player? Good grief, have you been living under a rock?

The player and the person are one and the same.

One day these guys are savior's and the next they are bums and thoughtless.

As a longtime fan..

I have gotten used to it.

The fact that Irving didn't bother to show up in Houston definitely won't endear him to the FO nor the fans.

He was being counted upon by the team to serve a pass rush role in the defensive rotation, all to no avail.

Evidently, this organization will forgive literally anything out of their desperation to get necessary help.

It was a big ask for irving to be ready given he has not practiced or played in a while. Is there something else besides the tweet above or why are people pissed at him?

Uh, that's the problem. This dude ALWAYS has something going on that prevents him from practicing regularly. Between that and the constant suspensions, he's simply not worth the headache.

He's literally the anti RKG.

Yep he sure is showing every NFL team what he is. Oh well, it's his life not mine. Of course I've never walked in his shoes but if I did I would buy a pair of "hush" puppies and make less noise

The team said it was beyond his or their control as to why he missed practice and did not make the trip.
I don't disagree with what you say, but just saying what was tweeted. I do not do twitter so cannot post it.

Clarence Hill tweeted it.

Not sure it was posted on here, but not going back to read through all the posts to see.
I am not surprised though it has not been posted. But still doubt it reduces any angst from the usuals. Maybe they don't wan to post it. LOL.

He missed practice because of a mandated meeting with the league medical director. I'm wondering if missing this game is in any way related to that meeting.

I believe you are confusing Randy Gregory with David Irving. Gregory had to fly to Chicago to meet with the mandated league medical director. Irving's absence is for something else personal (family) like @jazzcat22 mentioned.

I saw the tweet. If to be believed, it's understood to be beyond his control, but come on now. Is he going to keep getting distracted from his job as a player the remainder of the season? Pray all works out for him and his family, but he needs to get it all under wraps already.

Ok ok let me get this straight.

He fails multiple drug tests and gets 4 game suspension.

He goes to rehab for his “weed addiction”.

Misses OTA to get his “personal life together.”

Then he is out of shape.

Then he posts pictures of him conditioning.

Serves his suspension over 4 weeks. And now when he should be itching to jump back into practice he isn’t even gonna make the trip with the team? It’s in Huston, right down the road.

What’s the deal with this guy? Is he just trying to see how far he can push. He has to know that no other team is going to pick him up. As good as he is I think that he thinks he can just decide to play football and teams are gonna grab him up.

No one picked up his second round tender last year and now they won’t even give him a look.

Paid the man 2.9 million for the year. That’s 181,250 a game. He has already missed out on 5 paychecks. Biggest contract of his life.

I was a big supporter of his but he has pushed the limits with me. If I am JJ then when no one picks him up next year then I offer him the same deal. But if he is suspended again then I cut him. He is a game wrecker, but you have to be in the game for that to happen. He thinks because JJ was so patient with Gregory that he will do the same with him. And he is likely right.

He has had plenty of time to get his life together. Now I am not going to pretend to know what’s going on in someone else’s personal life and how it effects them but this is getting over board. He is a good player but not if he isn’t helping the team. This is the culture JJ has created. And we have to deal with it.
