I've been very critical of Romo in the past, but the game IS NOT too big for him.
I just feel Romo's entire career has been mismanaged.
We've never put a great offensive line around him.
We've never really given him a running game, and when we did, we really didn't feature it.
We never really managed his Farvian qualities, and now when we're trying to do it, it's almost too late.
I should correct myself and say we did have one season where we put everything around him to succeed, and that season we got summarily bounced by the Giants.
I hope I'm wrong, but I fear this team will be mediocre for a long time.
And I feel because of bad management, we've wasted the careers of Romo, Witten and Ware.
As for Johnny Manziel, I'd be willing to take a chance on him. No one knows for sure who's going to be a great quarterback in this draft class. But I'd be more willing to take a chance on Manziel's intangibles.
Here's the thing though: I don't know whether he can thrive in Dallas. Jerry will try to market him, and I just don't know if Dallas would be a good place for Manziel to be.
Maybe with a more disciplined franchise like the Patriots. But Dallas? I think there's a complacency, a laziness, an entertainment-mindset here that wouldn't be conducive to a Johnny Manziel.
