I said next April referring to the draft but I believe it's scheduled for the second week in May.

The search for the next longterm starting QB must begin now. We don't want a repeat of the 2001-2004 years when the Cowboys had not gotten any real replacement for Aikman.

I agree the Cowboys have to start looking but not in the first round. The day the Cowboys take a QB in the first round will signify Romo's time in Dallas is just about done. Jerry isn't about to burn a #1 pick on a QB who's going to be siting for awhile. The Cowboys under Jerry started Aikman as a rookie and Quincy Carter.

Sometimes you can tell about a person after a year or two, and I knew a long time ago. This game is too big for Tony, and I'm not being mean, it's jut fact. I would move up to get Johnny Football and I wouldn't care what anyone thought about it. If you can throw 2 picks at Claibourne, then I would throw picks, players, and some fans in the pot to get him. I think J Football, who has a strong arm by the way, will be unstoppable. He has 1 good receiver and a couple of good linemen, but other than that, he has NO defense, went up against a bunch of people who will be first rounders in the NFL, and the rest was history. People say he just threw it up for Evans, I wish Romo had just done that with Dez the other night. It's not physics, if you look over and see a giant on a midget, what do you do?

Unfortunately, no one will want to trade out of the 1 spot to get him so we may as well try to get Romo and make him a pure pocket passer because he's lost a couple of steps in his quickness and agility. Our best bet is to get him rolling in this new offense.

I agree 100%. Johnny F would bring some swagger and much needed ENERGY and CONFIDENCE back to this fanbase that has been beaten and battered like an abused wife since Romo has gotten here. Eventually this 8-8 tease every year has to stop and you have to just accept this core of Romo-Witten-Ware were not meant to be here in Dallas and just move on. If the "tease" happens again this year then we need to start the transition process. For once I hope Jerry is guided by the money and media attention and goes after Johnny F. He is still young so we can afford to sit him for 2 years if need be.

If you do move on from that core, then Garrett who has been a key architecht of some epic disapointment, has to go too and we let a new coach get his QB.

If you kick those 3 to the curb then you get rid of the other consistent source of disappointment the last half decade and let the new guy pick his offense and his QB.

Completely right. He is the only realistic option I'd consider to Romo. He will be an nfl star. Book it.

Stats are a very important way to evaluate a player. It is humorous that people belittle his stats. Oh Superbowls are more important? Then Rypien was better than Marino.

Sorry buddy.

When Romo leaves, more likely than not the Cowboys will have a repeat of the Henson-Testaverde-Carter-Leaf-Hutchinson years.

You might as well become a Packers or Ravens fan.

I've been very critical of Romo in the past, but the game IS NOT too big for him.
I just feel Romo's entire career has been mismanaged.
We've never put a great offensive line around him.
We've never really given him a running game, and when we did, we really didn't feature it.
We never really managed his Farvian qualities, and now when we're trying to do it, it's almost too late.
I should correct myself and say we did have one season where we put everything around him to succeed, and that season we got summarily bounced by the Giants.
I hope I'm wrong, but I fear this team will be mediocre for a long time.
And I feel because of bad management, we've wasted the careers of Romo, Witten and Ware.
As for Johnny Manziel, I'd be willing to take a chance on him. No one knows for sure who's going to be a great quarterback in this draft class. But I'd be more willing to take a chance on Manziel's intangibles.
Here's the thing though: I don't know whether he can thrive in Dallas. Jerry will try to market him, and I just don't know if Dallas would be a good place for Manziel to be.
Maybe with a more disciplined franchise like the Patriots. But Dallas? I think there's a complacency, a laziness, an entertainment-mindset here that wouldn't be conducive to a Johnny Manziel.

I'm not a big fan of Johnny but man it would attract a pretty big fan base of rowdy A&M fans to come watch the games locally. Also, why would Johnny have to sit 2 years? He can do better right now than what we have in there.

Hey at least Marino carried his team into a Super Bowl along with multiple playoff wins...

I'm UT alum but I love the kid. I said 2 years only to appease Romo for a year or two. I don't care if he starts ASAP. He'll bring swagger back to the franchise like we had in the 90s. You're not going to see him moping around on the sidelines, no philosophic answers to the media, everything is going to be done off the cuff. And you're right it, the fact he and his family are generational Texans, he went to A&M, heisman winner, etc....this would bring Jerry so much money in his pockets. Nobody buys Romo jerseys b/c he's viewed as a laughing stock by outsiders, Manziel on the other hand will break the jersey sales record. I hope....I PRAY jerry doesn't let this opportunity pass him if we fail again this year.

Yes you've got me there. If by carried you mean having much worse stats than in the regular season and that includes a 77 passer rating. 8-10 record.

Um, next I guess is a clever thing to say so

There is only one and that is Johnny Manziel. No matter what everybody says, that his game won't translate into the NFL, I don't buy that. The guy is special. Look what he did against the Bama defense.

You mean the two interceptions?

Johnny Football? Sure, lots of mobility and swagger but without arm strength he might be at a big disadvantage. Risky pick,,,
