Is Austin the new #1

He's got to be close to the record for any two consecutive games. He has the franchise record for that, but someone on another team probably had more than 421.

I was really hoping he would get the additional 29 yards for two consecutive weeks over 200 yards. That has to be a pretty rare accomplishment.

There's no doubt... He is the clear an unequivocal #1.

At least we have a great downfield blocker in our #2.

Dude this is sig material.

I only wish playing time was dictated by performance. Jerry is going to impose Roy into the equation even if RW was the 3rd or 4th best option.

Roy would play better if he had to *earn* his keep. The poor guy is in a difficult situation because jerry made a bone-head trade. Williams can never live up to that trade.

guys don't be hard on bleu star. His heart and soul are still tied to T.O., now lost in the snows of Buffalo.

Nope, I hope Hurd saved his money. Jerry has the same man love for Ogletree he had for Stanback.

I don't think so - Stanback was a draftee and those guys are always seen in a different light. The higher the draft pick, the more leeway they are given before production on the field is expected.

Yet another misguided soul. Need a map?

On a serious note, it's refreshing to see Mile stepping up. The Roy trade wreaked of a pungent aroma from the onset. Thank goodness Miles is providing that balance to our running game.

Miles is good.

Roy is garbage.

There's no TO in either of the two sentences above.

I just wish Roy Williams would work with Irvin.
Same type of receiver, in fact Roy is more talented.
Maybe if some of Irvin's heart and work ethic caught on Roy we'd be set.

Jerry Rice went for 442 yards over the last two games of the 1995 season. I didn't do an exhaustive search to see owns the record.

People always act as though talent is innate but work ethic and character are learned traits - I do think this is somewhat of an illusion and false dichotomy. Roy's "laziness" is as innate as Irvin's "work ethic" was. He has been this way for his whole life so I don't think it is within him to change.

Austin isn't the #1. But I don't think it makes any difference in the number of catches he makes.

I did ... at least since 1960 (which is as far back as the search goes).

Here are all of the receivers with at least 400 yards in back-to-back games --

450 Chad Johnson, 2006 (260, 190)
448 John Taylor, 1989 (162, 286)
442 Jerry Rice, 1995 (289, 153)
421 Miles Austin, 2009 (250, 171)
413 Flipper Anderson, 1989 (336, 77)
412 Terrell Owens, 2000 (129, 283)
410 Jerry Rice, 1995 (121, 289)
400 Sonny Randle, 1962 (144, 256)

Rice's two instances came in three straight games (121, then 289, then 153).

Chad Johnson and Miles Austin are the only two guys on that list who ever had two straight games of at least 170 yards. Rice never did it in his entire career. The closest Owens ever came was 171 and 166 in 2002. Austin also is the first Cowboys player to do it.

Yes...along with Jason Witten. Those are the guys Romo looks to. For good reason too.

As of now, yes, he is our #1. I hardly ever know Crayton is on the field. I do notice Roy because he drops the ball as much as T.O. does. Does Hurd even have a catch this year? Witten is our #2.

I'd rather have Spiller.

Spiller is going to be a top 15 pick. I dont think we would have a shot, or draft a RB anyway

I just can't believe he did it two weeks in a row.

Jets wanted him....Bengals wanted Bennett.....is this a trend? !

Don't forget who told people that Austin was probably our best receiver during training camp.

*pats self on back*

:D

If you mean is he the guy Romo will look to more often then right now yes. As for where we have him lining up as Romo said Garrett has the WR line up differently though out the game so while Austin may be the X WR on one play he could very well be line up in the Z spot on the next.
