Is Back Up QB the Biggest Concern?

Does anyone really have faith in either of our options at QB should Dak go down? Word is from Broaddus that neither Rush or White have shown the ability to command a huddle to the point that JG had to scold White for not being able to run the huddle. Very concerning IMO. Should we explore bringing in a vet? I mean if we are truly all in should we not ensure that if Dak has to miss a game or two that the boat doesnt completely sink?
Could you give us the link for "Word is from Broaddus that neither Rush or White have shown the ability to command a huddle "

I get it. Your request is understandable. But do we really need a link to know what would happen if Dak got injured? It would be game over.

The intent of OP is concern of the back up QB and BB quote saying they can't run a huddle, everyone thought it was a disaster when Romo went down in 2016, who knows what will happen but back to my point, just like to see in black and white in context.

It's not the biggest concern. Bigger concerns before backup QB (in no order).

- Safety concerns, especially SS
- CB play opposite Jones
- Improved pass rush from a team that was middle of the pack last year in getting after the QB
- OL health, specifically Smith and Frederick.

These all will have much bigger impacts on the season than who the backup QB is. The reality is that for almost all teams, save for a very small handful, if they have to go to a back up QB, they are screwed.

it's on dc.com

What team has an adequate backup QB? There aren't 32 starting quality ones in the league.

With Foles and Frank Reich, the exception became the rule. Any quality backup QB is a luxury item and a damned short lived one...…. if he gets to play.

we need someone who can win a few games should dak get injured. not likely we go into the season with more than 2 qb's on the roster. too many wr's, d-backs, o-line and d-line personnel who would justify keeping another player. concern might not be the best word choice. but certainly top priority.

First off anything from Broaddus is a steamy pile of manure. That said its obvious backup QB is an issue. Watching Garrett and Co. try to work with Casell still keeps me up at night. Backup QB is certainly in the top 3 of issues with the team. K and SS are the other in my opinion.

Actually there were plenty of us that watched Dak in preseason and didn't think Romo's injury would be a disaster. We were probably over confident fans, sure, but hope was there based on pre season. I have yet to see that from either of our two backups. You could be right. But everything I have seen from our two backups scares me. Dak never scared me, he impressed me in pre season.

Yep. You have Belichick in NE who I guess could probably muster some magic from a backup QB. After that, you might have a team or two or three at max that has a backup QB who can right a ship and still push the team forward. That's not to say we shouldn't always been on the lookout to upgrade Rush or White, but it is what it is not just for us, but for 80-90% of the teams in the NFL.

This also reminds me how many people thought Mike White was a gem. LOL.

I don't honestly know what the percentage of teams is that have a decent backup QB but that's kinda beside the point to me. To me, the real problem is not what percentage has it covered. To me, the real issue is, how many of those teams have a real shot at winning a championship? Thats the real "Fly In The Ointment", to me.

no, because if we have to rely on the backup, our season is over, just like every other team in the NFL.

Its a big problem.

A veteran QB was NOT brought in over the offseason for political reasons. You cannot have a proven veteran QB behind Dak if he continues to struggle.

The last thing Command wants is a QB controversy.

Don't believe this?

Go back to the 3-5 start in 2018.

I said absolutely to the OP without realizing it was asking if this is was the BIGGEST concern. I agree that it's not the biggest one but it is a concern in my view. I would like a backup that could potentially win a couple of games if Dak went down for a short time. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be anyone available who fits that bill and I have no faith in our current backups. If Dak gets seriously hurt, we are screwed as are pretty much all teams.

Probably not many.

Where are the bring back Romo people on this...
They’re still compiling their analytics, which will prove that:

Every Cowboys win during the Romo Era was the result of Tony carrying the entire team, while every Cowboys loss during the same period was the result of his teammates’ failure.

The stats are out there...it’s just gonna take a while.

No link it was a video on youtube. This may or may not be the vid I saw it on. They were discussing offense and later discussed defense.
